The Battle Spike is the second-tallest facility in the Battle Frontier (the tallest obviously being the Battle Tower). In this facility, trainers can't issue specific commands to their Pokemon - they have to trust in their Pokemon acting on their own to see them through! There are two modes that you can choose from in the Battle Spike: Single Mode and Double Mode. In Single Mode, you will pick your usual team of 3 Pokemon. You will then engage in single-battle against 7 consecutive trainers with random teams. The trainers start off easy, but get harder as you go along, and they will fight under the same conditions as you. Your team will be fully healed in between battles, to keep yourself at full strength for the next battle. There is a catch to battling here, though: you cannot give your Pokemon specific attack commands! When you send your Pokemon out and command it to battle, it will use a move on its own. This is dependent on many factors, such as the Pokemon species, what it is thinking, its disposition, and so forth. (You are allowed to switch your Pokemon in and out during the battle as normal, though.) Victory will depend on not only your skills as a trainer, but your faith in your Pokemon. Double Mode is virtually identical to Single Mode, except you will be bringing in a team of 4 Pokemon instead of 3, and you will be engaging in 4-Pokemon Double Battles, instead of 3-Pokemon Single Battles. Your team will be fully healed in between each match. Once you have cleared 7 battles in a row, you will be taken back down to the Battle Spike lobby, and awarded with Battle Points (starting with 4, and increasing in proportion to your winning streak). Should you lose, you will have to start your streak over from the beginning. Once you have cleared a certain number of battles and have shown your prowess as a trainer, you will be challenged to battle by the Frontier Brain here, Spike Dominator Rudy. (You can only fight him in Single Mode.) Information about Rudy is detailed below. ___________________________________________________________ ![]() Rudy is the Frontier Brain for the Battle Spike. He is a close friend of DNA, who personally appointed him to his current position to replace Fredrick. He's a very nice and exciting guy to be around, and always loves to have a good time. When he battles, though, he is very serious regarding the matter at hand, and he puts all his trust in his Pokemon to see him through. The first time you fight Rudy will be for the Silver Spirit Symbol. You will battle him after you defeat 20 trainers (your 3rd run through, and he'll be the last trainer). This is the team he uses against you for the first battle. Monsensei Lv. 50The second time you fight Rudy will be for the Gold Spirit Symbol. You will battle him after you defeat 55 trainers (your 8th time through, and he'll be the last trainer). This is the team he uses against you for the second battle. Garchomp Lv. 50Once you defeat him both of these times, you'll be renowned as one who puts his full trust in his Pokemon to achieve victory! |
