Right. So I'll be entering a monotype tournament using water pokemon, so I naturally decided to create a rain dance team. I have a few ideas, but still need a lot of help building a usable team.

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

JIRACHI
Posted Image
Timid
252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 Spe
Serene Grace
@Damp Rock
Rain Dance
Thunder
Water Pulse
U-Turn

Jirachi will be used to set up 8-turn rain quickly. From there, its Serene Grace will let me paralyze and confuse my opponent with Thunder and Water Pulse respectively. U-Turn will be used to scout out opponent pokemon, and will allow me to bring out something like Kingdra in order to sweep.

KINGDRA
Posted Image

Adamant
Swift Swim
@Leftovers
180 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Spe
Rain Dance
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Outrage

Basic Swift Swim double dance Kingdra. Use Rain Dance if necessary, then one or two dragon dances, and sweep with Waterfall, or if necessary, Outrage.

VAPOREON
Posted Image

Bold
Water Absorb
@Leftovers
188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe
Surf
Ice Beam
Wish
Toxic

Basic Vaporeon, which has always been in all of my teams. Gets a boost from the rain, of course. Provides wish support, and uses toxic to poison enemies.

BRONZONG
Posted Image

Impish
Levitate
@Damp Rock
252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Def
Rain Dance
Explosion
Hypnosis
Gyro Ball/Stealth Rock

Bronzong comes in as a mid/late game rain dancer. His bulky typing will allow him to get it off with ease, and in the rain, Bronzong has no weaknesses. Haven't decided whether to give it Stealth Rock or Gyro Ball, however.

The last two I haven't decided on. At the moment I'm thinking either Swampert, Ludicolo, Suicune, or Kabutops. We're allowed to have two pokemon that don't fit our team's typing, and I already have them both in my team. Any suggestions for additions/changes?

Hmmm.....might use Dewgong just because it can rest and wake up in the same turn in the rain.

hmm mono-type teams means you will come accross other mono-type teams right? And is this on wifi?

Anyway I would suggest having CB azumarril and mabye non-choice starmie or SpcesJolt on here.

CB azumarril's rain boosted aqua jets will hurt. Bigtime. He can easily come in on scizor's BP or heatran's FB and do some serious damage. If they switch out Focus punch is gonna hurt anything that comes in. Or you can have brick break to garuntee a hit at T-tar who kinda ruins a rain dance team. Aqua jet and ice punch are pretty standard. Double edge for the last move. Unless you don't like recoil. If you want you can also just go with leftovers. Azumarril is pretty bulky so yeah.

SpecsJolt will cover your electric weakness. Thunder/ shadow ball/ HP grass and signal beam should be good.

On Bronzong take off hypnosis. 60 accuracy just sucks. I would have both gyro ball and SR on him. Shoot I just realised you can only have 2 wildcards. So I think you should just get rid of zong and give SR to jirachi instead of water pulse to be able to get another sweeper in there. But thats just me,lol

I would actually take out vaporeon for dugtrio. Vaporeon just kind of gets in your way. Cause once you have rain up you wanna just go for the kill. Dugtrio gets rid of T-tar and blissey who can really be a pain. It also get rid of tentacruel and the odd E-vire that tries to take advantage of any thunder attacks coming his way.

Yeah my suggestions are really vague and all over the place. But I need to be looking at the full team to really see what can be a problem and what can't,lol

EDIT: so im thinking so far

Jirachi/ Kingdra/ Azumarril/ Dugtrio or SpecsJolt/ Starmie (non-choice with rain dance as last move)/ludicolo?

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely use Azumarill. So get rid of Bronzong you say? Easily done, but I can only have one of the two - Jolteon or Dugtrio... And I liked Bronzong in there just as a guaranteed 8 turn rain dance. Swampert would also cover the electric weakness. But I was also kind of hoping for another swift swimmer - like Luicolo or Kabutops. And like I said, the Dewgong idea would be pretty cool, aside from its mediocre stats. Though Phione would also work in place of Dewgong....

I'm still not 100% XD
Thanks for all the ideas though. Will you let me know more once there's a full team to rate?

EDIT: Didn't see your last edit. Sorry about that. That seems like a pretty good team to me. You really think I should get rid of Vappy though?

swampert will mean grass mono-teams will have a field day.

Yeah I realised I went overboard with the wildcards. I would get ludicolo as the last swiftswimmer/rain dance setter up. Why? Because speed boost is always good. His typing is really good. And he is immune to leech seed. Any mono-grass team will just subseed you all day.

Jolteon vs Dugtrio is a bit of a toss up. Personally I see SpecsJolt doing massive damage in this team. And dugtrio can't really switch into any attack other than electrical attacks. Which kinda limits his revenge killing abilities.

dewgong is just no. SR weak + there are alot of better options.

Okay then ^_^ I'll go with your ideas. They all seem really good to me. I'll take it that Phione's a no as well then XD
I just have to work on getting a Jirachi, Ludicolo, and Azumarill now. I have none of those O_o;

will you know which team you will be going up against? You might have to alter your team slightly depending on which type you are playing against. And yes phione is a no,lol

I would suggest trying to get Ghostface's opinion on this since he is really good with rain teams. But finding him online is gonna be hard,lol

Idk, I was never impressed by Azumarills power buts thats just my opinion.

This may sound crazy but maybe a scarfed gyarados would be a nice poke somewhere on your team to function as a heavy hitter with out needing the rain to function. With adamant nature and scarfed it will have 383 atk and 392.5 speed and if the rain is out then thats even more power for waterfall. Without stealthrocks it cannot 2hko the standard blissey but in the rain it does.

The moveset I would use is Waterfall/Earthquake/Stoneedge/Ice Fang

Naturally don't switch it on anything that may use electric attacks and don't keep it in on anything it cannot kill. Keep it as a revenge killer.

Flame covered a lot of what I was going to say so I'm not going to repeat but I don't like Azumarill.

if you go for the ScarfDos I would not max speed. Just try to outspeed Akakazam and co so 373 speed. Unless you really hate weavile for whatever reason. The extra HP is always helpful. But I guess if you wanna tie LoDDdos after 1 DD then that makes sense too.
