lol obviously, man. With my constant use of curse words, jokes, and crude analogies. I sound like your typical Nietzsche and Frost all thrown together haha. seriously, stop trying so hard. I'm right, you're wrong. Shit's done. |

No, I'm not wrong. You're the one who has got the concepts wrong. If a person opposes tiers, it doesn't mean that that person need not be a good battler. In fact, I know enough about the tiers to oppose it. Moreover, you most know about Pokemons and their movesets and not about the tier. I really wonder how you can 6-0 top players when you do not know the basics. |

How can you disagree with tiers? If you don't like BL, UU, or NU, play OU. If you don't like OU, play Ubers. It's not resticting ANYTHING. You can still use your Sceptile or Tangrowth or Charmander or whatever you want in OU. You know what removing tiers does? It prevents people from playing with their favorites like Butterfree or Kanghaskhan that just wouldn't cut it in an environment with Pokemon 'strictly better' than them. It maintains balanced levels of competition for almost all Pokemon. |

lol you really are an idiot. Once again, it's not the tier statement itself, it's how stupid your argument is. If you have a stupid case, you're probably a stupid person. Stupid people often aren't very good at this game. And I assure you I know more than you when it comes to tiers, movesets, and the game in its entirety. Considering I've been analyzing and breaking the metagame since I started this game (I've been down since ADV as far as online competitiveness goes). You can call me "vet" if you want. I may not be as good at battling as I was in my prime, but I still manage to know more than you do when it concerns theory. What's more is that little "vet" title gives me the right to call you a scrub no matter who the fuck you are. |

I wonder whether you know more than me. I'm also playing competitive Pokemon.
I know that you've also mentioned a few more things but it doesn't really matter if you know more than me about tiers. Tiers do not influence a real good battler. It is people like you who follow the beaten track by reading the Smogon guide. When you read guides and build teams according to that, you lose your own style. |

lol dude, read my fucking posts for chrissake. I HATE smogon. I've pointed that out so many times... Also, I said the game in its ENTIRETY. All of it. ALL. OF. IT. You seriously are one of the dumbest people I've met when it comes to Pokemon, for sure. So that's another credential you have. I highly doubt you have your own style. If you do, it's just gimmick bullshit, too. edit: hahahahahahaha http://www.smogon.com/forums/member.php?u=18761 you had Jabba helping you, and you seem to think you have an original style? Hahahaha. Well, Jabba and I just had one session and he did only 2 changes to the team that I made. I didn't want a tutor to actually teach me but I wanted a team building partner. I wanted some more ideas, that is it. This happened in September, 2008. And I can say the same thing about you as well. "You seriously are one of the dumbest people I've met when it comes to Pokemon, for sure. So that's another credential you have." I really can't care less what you think because I know that I'm successful and I've no idea to what extent you've been successful. |

I agree that this is half of the competitive battling standard out there. :P I don't mind Smogon so much as I do any other site. It's just a page in my web browser that tells me about pokemon. Hell, I have the same, if not more regard, for Marriland or Serebii than I do Smogon. As far as sets go, I hate Smogon sets. They told me to put Flamethrower on my Scarf Flygon when he's fully capable of learning Fire Punch... The Smogon moveset crew is plenty enough retarded IMO, but sometimes they get it right, and I use some of their models as templates for me to mess around with when I'm lazy. As far as their forum community... couldn't give a shit, I don't use their forum. |

Theory: We have a Walvin alt on board. I remember 3 years back, me and Tim used to spam Smogon up and see how many posts we could get before we got banned. Good times. As for what I think of Smogon, they're a pretty typical kind of bunch, you get some pretty cool people, and some... who clearly aren't. If the attitude of some people gets on your nerves, just steer clear. =\ Well, it's nice to see a new topic here even if it is full to the brim with butthurt. |

Okay this topic has been very amusing and I was going to stay out of it but...I can't keep quiet for too long anyway. lol I'm going to first say that I cannot comment on the Smogon community itself because I am not a member there, have never been interested in the community there, and nor will I ever be a member there. So you all can think whatever you want about the people there, doesn't matter to me. What I CAN comment on is the tier portion of the discussion. I will say that I've never been much of a fan of tiers in any game, only for the fact that it makes me feel sort of bad if I like a character, or in this case pokemon, that is classed in a low tier, it makes me feel like I shouldn't use it. BUT, a couple of things about that. First, a low tiered pokemon doesn't mean it shouldn't or can't ever be used. And secondly, NOT LIKING tiers and disagreeing with the actual tiers themselves are two different things. I may not like tiers in general, BUT I don't disagree with them. It's kind of hard to disagree with them, really. I mean, honestly, you would be hard pressed to find a Butterfree or Beedrill in a battle with pokemon like Blissey and Tentacruel, or really just most pokemon in general. Unfortunately, not all pokemon were created equal, or comparatively competitive with each other, and that's just the way it is. And I....Agree with Sheed, that you can still use a UU or NU classified pokemon in an OU battle, I don't think anyone would get mad at you for not having a fully 'OU' Pokemon team. I think a lot of people would agree that strictly 'OU' pokemon battles are dull and boring anyway. Better players would be able to mix in UU pokemon with other OU pokemon on a team, and strategize and coordinate the pokemon together to be able to defeat any other team of pokemon. So if there are players on Smogon that think the only proper way to battle is to use only OU pokemon, then maybe you should find somewhere else to battle people, people who don't want to only follow the 'Smogon' rules and movesets. If they're saying you're bad for trying to use a UU pokemon in battle with OU pokemon, then they're idiots, because it actually would take more skill to be able to coordinate lower tiered pokemon mixed in with higher tiered pokemon, and it's just more enjoyable, becuase you CAN use some of your favorites in lower tiers if you team them with the right pokemon. Granted, there are always going to be instances where you have to use OU pokemon that you may not necessarily like, but they're just too good of a battling tool that would be beneficial to other pokemon on your team, perhaps some pokemon that you DO like, that you wind up having to use it. For example, I have a Togekiss, which is classified as OU. I HATE Togekiss as a pokemon, I think whoever designed it had been struck retarded before drawing it. BUT, dammit if it isn't way better than the Pidgeot or Noctowl I'd RATHER be using. It's just a better pokemon, and has to be in a different class than the other two birds I mentioned. But I do disagree about having an 'Uber' tier and just a 'Normal' tier for every other pokemon, because there are clearly pokemon that were made at a lower level competitively. It does suck when you have pokemon you like that you'd want to use in battle and they're just not up to par with most other pokemon, like your Butterfree's and Beedrill's and Beautifly's, but sadly that's how things are. Personally, I like Lumineon, but hey, it sucks dirty balls. I could never honestly use it in battle, because my opponent would use 'LMFAOROFL' on me and embarrass me out of the battle. The only thing that Lumineon has over Butterfree and Beedrill is that it might qualify to get an evolution next gen (please!). But until then, there are just some pokemon that are clearly at lower levels of competitive ability, and therefore the tiers, while you might not like them, they're there, and they're not really that debatable. -BBM |

Ahaha, why thank you kind sir. Well, 'sirs', George for 'QFT'ing me, too. I figured I needed to speak with a level head, considering Brian is spreading enough dissent to Silva already that he makes North and South Korea look like best friends. AND I needed to prove that contrary to what everyone thinks I'm not ALWAYS 'roid raging over everything. And George, I thought I'd point out that your presence in this thread has not yet annoyed me. It's actually been refreshing to see you post in here. |

BLAH. Pokemon. Serious business. There's a poster saying Pokemon. Serious Business, with the capture rate formula shown as the image, I just can't bother finding it :P Enjoy your competitive battling, I just stick to the basics (gotta catch em all, ya know?)
