Well basically I'm wondering why people hate on the new generations. I still don't understand why people continue to hate on the new pokemon generations because they are different from R/B/Y or G/S/C and the style of pokemon was different. Usually I see people complaining about how much Sinnoh sucks compared to Johto or something of that sort. I really thought that Sinnoh was a unique region and I liked the fact that you had to cross through Jubilife a lot so it didn't feel inconvenient to go there when you wanted to use the GTS. While I really thought the Gym Leaders were odd, I still liked most of them. Sinnoh also had its own Icy region which was a first for pokemon, we never got snow :D The pokemon designs were pretty nice and different, I didn't like them at first because they were very different from R/S/E's pokemon but they eventually grew on me. I liked all of the Pokemon games so far, I really don't have much complaints about them because they all had their own memories with me. I disliked how in R/S a bunch of pokemon were left out and unobtainable by legit ways and how the time system was removed, but that's about it. So what do you think about each generation, feel free to post your thoughts instead of just saying "Chimchar Sucks /endthread" |

I think ruby/saph was the worst. I went back to play gold and silver to see what the magic was about and it wasn't as amazing as i remembered it. D/P is a very good game, but i think some of this generations pokemon r stretching it a little. IMO Sinnoh isnt that original because in most of the pokemon games there was one big town you would cross through. G/S had Goldenrod R/S had that electric city. The maps arent very original and i think overall pokemon from generation to generation doesnt make many improvements. On the other hand i like getting more of same cuz with pokemon theres never too much. |

I really liked Sapphire, it added a lot of my favorite pokemon. I liked the more tropical region, advanced berry system, natures, abilities, and just the layout of the region. It was cool that for the last two badges you would have to go out to sea for them. Also the big town in Sinnoh is Veilstone. |

Basically, niggas be hatin'. Blue is my favorite, but I still have all the games (er, at least 1 from each gen of the main series), and play the newer ones more. Some people just have to be stuck up and tell people how hardcore they are by stating that the old ones were better. Bah. |

I agree with Elhanan for the most part. The maps just lack originality, and that's sort of a set back for us who want to see something new. Part of the reason G/S/C was so cool was because of all the new stuff that was introduced. Yep. |

A lot of people always ignore how much each new generation adds, I can't even bring myself to play my Crystal version for more than an hour to feel bored. Its so outdated but it would be a lot better if they updated it and made a new version. I hope generation 5 blows us all away. |

I don't hate the 4th gen, it's still great, but compared to other generations, it's meh. Most of the new Pokemon are pretty bad, I didn't like Sinnoh much, and nothing from the game really stuck in my mind. Sure, it adds a whole bunch of new features, but the towns, the pokemon, and everything else wasn't that memorable. |

Each generation adds alot, but most of the stuff isn't that ground breaking. You mentioned how you liked berries, natures, abilities. None of those things defy the norm of an rpg. I don't think adding 2v2 battles or abilities r that original. Its all been done. Well pokemon is a good game and you make a pretty fun arguement for it. My final verdict? Great game but its all old. Rehashed rpg elements from other games, battle mechanics strictly based on the ones prior, I could go on for a little while about even more stuff. Pokemon is a great game, but it certainly is not original (only original part was the creation of the first game). And now im going to bed. G night all :D |

I'd probably have to agree that Sinnoh has the least memorable towns and cities for me as well. I liked them but you don't really have to spend much time in them to get bored with nothing to do. I used to spend hours in Johto and Hoenn's towns. |

My thoughts at the main gameplays in the gens 1st Gen: Take over Silph, get a crapload of cash...and after that...uhhhhhh 2nd Gen: Whip the crap out of pokemon, cut off slowpoketail, make magikarps not so pathetic, and take over the radio tower to get the boss back. By far I loved it. 3rd Gen: Emo leaders that hate the world, and try to summon Groudon and Kyogre to destroy the world...including theirselves. 4th Gen: Slimiar to the last gen. Instead, makes a new universe to live in while the Earth dies in a fire. Favorite is 2nd Gen...if that can't be figured out... Edited by Endy, Sep 27 2008, 03:46 PM.

My favorite of all was Crystal. It first introduced the female character (which I took advantage of, hehe), it held my favorite Electric type, Ampharos (even though I had to trade for it), and the first monkey poke'mon I actually like, Aipom was introduced, and I loves me my monkeys. It also introduced the "Name the town upon entry at the bottom of the screan" feature, and the select item feature, which actually cannot be done G/S, as far as I remember (correct me if I'm wrong). Plus, it was the first game until Emerald to feature animations for poke'mon upon entry to battle. My second favorite is D/P, mostly because of Infernape (they combined my two favorite things, monkeys and fire lol). But it had many unique features and a nice playing style slightly different from the other games that I grew to love quickly. I found my favorite main ghost type, Mismagius in this one. Finally, my third fav is Emerald, because it introduced most of my favorite poke'mon. Breloom, Shedinja, Rayquaza, all of the were so cool. I disliked R/S and RBY. R/S contained so few poke'mon, and no way to legally obtain any of them until FR/LG came out. Yellow was an epic step down from its R/B brothers. Sure, it got better drawing of its poke'mon and you started with a Pikachu and got all three starters, but it was just... too easy. To be honest, I prefered the original Green version over all the old games, it was such a challenge. You actually had to train on wild poke'mon for maybe two levels sometimes to get to the right level to fight the trainers. The Elite 4 were levels 70s, it was great, I actually had to work for it. Yeah they are, I think they released Blue in Japan as an updated version of the original Red/Green. Then Yellow of course. |

No there are two versions of Red. When Pokemon first came out I think they had Red/Green versions which were the ones with lower quality graphics and harder gameplay. In the US we got Red/Blue, which was an updated version with better graphics and easier gameplay. Then they re released blue in japan as an updated version of the original two. I think we didn't get green version as a color because blue is a more popular color here. |

I wish I had a chance to play the original green, its sprites were horrible but maybe it would change my outlook on the first gen. If the DSi has a points system like the wii then hopefully they will add it for downloading. |
