If they'd have kept the voice actors they had, and never replaced Misty or turned Gary into a nerd, I think the show would have a much bigger fanbase. Despite the no Misty or Gary, Hoenn did have some good things. The first 2 seasons had good openings. The Storm Posts: 367 Group: Members Member #16 Joined: Jan 19, 2008	I mostly saw Johto and Hoenn when I was younger, and sometimes I would see Kanto reruns on too. I don't care much for the newer voice actors. They sound like cheap knock-offs to me (which is essentially what they are). I haven't seen much of the Sinnoh Anime, but I don't have a big interest in it anymore.

PeachesRgood Posts: 801 Group: Members Member #25 Joined: Jan 19, 2008	Yeah it's a shame that all the voice actors were replaced because Pokemon USA wanted to save some money and replace them with cheap knock-offs that are supposed to sound like the original cast. The anime just sucks now because they didn't feel like negotiating with 4kids so these last two seasons have been done by people not even familiar with the anime. Luckily Gary's voice was done by an independent actor so they didn't replace him. Although, I do agree they did a good thing by getting rid of Misty for a character that was more interesting. She really lost her personality because Togepi really drained it. Misty really didn't have a point to travel with the group, if she wants to be the best water pokemon trainer she can just work her way up at the Gym and challenge the Elite 4. Plus now they can show more pokemon types now that the new female character isn't limited to just Water types. May though was kinda random to see her go so soon, she was only in two seasons but I guess there was nothing else they could do with her since she wasn't a newbie with pokemon anymore, it would be kinda annoying if they made her go dumb like Ash does at the start of the D/P season. I guess you can like Dawn, and it's nice they went back to the 3 person group again. Piplup is turning into a Pikachu clone though, because the Japanese kids love that thing. Also to mention it doesn't want to evolve like Pikachu. Hoenn was a different series from the first two, which was a nice change of pace. It was weird that Ash didn't have a real rival, but Gary wasn't mean enough anymore to continue being Ash's rival. It's nice that there is Paul now and somewhat Barry. Paul's an asshole which makes you want Ash to beat him, even though Ash hasn't beat him in a formal battle yet (Which is kinda sad since he's gone through so many things already) It would be nice if Ash was an experienced trainer again, like he was in Hoenn. He seems as much of a newbie as Dawn this season. Barry is just another friendly rival that you can't take seriously. Team Rocket has also gone more stale nowadays. I used to love them in Hoenn and the earlier series, their plans seem to have gotten dumber and less original than they usually were. They also lost a lot of their personality once the new voice actors came in. It seems like they just steal a pokemon with a random machine or net and run away. Then Ash and Co. find them and destroy their balloon/machine and they blast off again. The only interesting thing they have ever done all this season is have Jessie win a contest for once. I'd like to see them interact with Ash and Co. in a good way occasionally like they did in the past. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doGpQ4dZofs The theme songs also fail nowadays, the last good one was Advanced Challenge's theme. Advanced Battle was just too kiddish in my opinion, Battle Frontier sounded really gay, and the D/P theme songs all suck really bad. The anime sucks now, hopefully it will get another "voice actor change" back to the originals but I highly doubt that.

But I would have liked to have seen Ash get all 3 starters like he did in Johto. Mudkip was wasted on Brock. Actually I think he's gotten boring now. He was always aiming to be a breeder but in the earlier series atleast he had a few battles. Gotta diasgree with what you said about Misty. After she got Togepi she was playing the motherly role in the group, but she was like that with Pikachu anyway. And she still kicked Ash's ass now and then near the end oh Johto.

Whenever I don't have anything productive to do, I'll sit in the living room and watch it with her lol Good jesus, the voice acting is horrible.
