Let's get some opinions, flaming and links to random game sites going. I'm with Sony all the way. The controls are simple and i've been a playstation fan since... playstation. I'm really anti-xbox. I don't like the console and don't let my mates play theirs if i'm around. Also I think their fanbase give gamers a bad name. (ZOMG HALO, GUNS, HALO, BLOOD, HALO!) |

I'm with Playstation too. I've never played an Xbox though but have played Playstaion since PS1. I think the controls on Playstation are simpler aswell and most Xbox fans say Xbox is better because of the games it gets when most PS3 exclusives are better. |

E3 2009 favoured Playstation. White Knight Chronicles aswell as the first upcoming PS3 MMORPG and FFXIII (And versus). Also there were some other games that looked pretty cool. |

Let me start off by saying- fuck you to all the fanboys out there, you're the people who give Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo a bad name. Okay, I'm starting off with Sony. First off, I am completely satisfied with my PS3. I have never had any problems with it (unless you count the time I forgot to set up the network options, and I couldn't sign in to my account xD) The games. No, I'm not talking about exclusives. Who the hell cares about the exclusives? It's what games I can play on this system that matters, not the games that only this console can play. I have six games- Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Mirror's Edge, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, and Uncharted. All awesome games in my opinion. The Playstation Store. I like it. Looks sleek. Easy to find things. Fair prices. Actual money used, as opposed to points, which you need to memorize how much of are how many dollars (why?) The controller. Yes, I need a section for the controller. After intense video-gaming, I have discovered that the controller does not pick up sweat as much as, for example, the Xbox 360 controller. The Xbox 360 controller is more comfortable, but damn it, I'd rather have a semi-comfortable controller that isn't slippery than a comfortable controller that is. Also, usb charging <3 Microsoft. Console problems. RRoD. Such a hassle D: Other than that, nothing. Design. Ehh, it kind of has a child-like appeal to it, what with the avatars and bubbles and green, etc, etc. Not saying it looks bad, but... it's a gaming console, not a toy. Games. Why am I gonna critique the games again? Pretty much the same thing. You know, everybody prefers good games, so obviously... Shop. Eh, again, the points, that's my main critique. The organization makes it seem like an archive instead of a menu. But that's not a biggie. Online. I just don't like how it costs money >.< Same as PS3, but it's not free. Nintendo. Great portable games, but personally, not a fan of the consoles. Don't get me wrong, the Wii is good. I just prefer not to have it. It definitely targets families instead of gamers, though. Games... Well, there are shitty games, and there are good games. Just like on any console. Moving on. Friend codes. Pointless and a hassle. Really not much else to say as I only played it once =P |

Fuck Sony lol One of my friends brought his PS3 over and we literally had to wait 20 minutes for the game to make a stupid save file and install. What kind of shit is that? I'd love to just pop a game in and play it lol Also, the PS3 is such a fucking monster. So much bulk. I feel like I'm carrying an elephant (=P). I do like the blu-ray. That's the only plus I give. All the games I play for the 360 are available for the PS3 except for L4D, which is another minus for you guys =P HALO *drools* =P I don't even like the game. L4D all the way, baby. |

PS3 is a real gaming system, if you want a cheap knockoff with some other alternate features go for the 360. I've had no problems with both of my PS3's, but all of my friends who have 360's send theirs in at least once every 2 years because they get the RRoD. They also complain about not having xbox live when they don't pay, luckily i don't have to pay for internet access. I have a wii too, but it's really just a gimmick. It's fun with a lot of people and you want to play party games. But other than that there's hardly any good games to want to "game" on with a wii. The system could have been a lot better, but Nintendo fails to modernize and embrace online game play. They still try to keep the "kid friendly" label which really limits the wii's potential. Also ruining a lot of the franchises by aiming them towards "Family" standards. Which is really hindering the growth of many games (Animal Crossing City Folk and SSBB are examples of games that could have been so much better, if nintendo didn't try to aim towards families and all age play.) PS3 is a real gaming system that has failed to embrace its full potential. Sony hasn't done shit to prove it can outsell it's PS2, which was an epic system. The 360 was an improvement over its predecessor not only graphic wise, but sales wise. It's so successful it caused Square Enix to release FFXII on the 360 as well. What does that tell you? 14 is just for butthurt Sony fans. |

Nothing's ever going to beat PS2, PS2 was just badass. And i'm no video game genius, but I don't think that's why Square brought out FFXIV XD. |

I personally like the PS3 over the Xbox 360. - PS3 has Blueray, that speaks for itself. - I don't like the Xbox 360 controller. It's way too bulky, and it just feel awkward when you're holding it. - PS3 has superior online gameplay than Xbox 360. PS3 has bluetooth and is free, while Xbox 360 requires an ethernet cord and costs $50 for a year. - I have no reason to have an Xbox 360. All of the games I could possibly want for it are also for PS3. |

This whole generation is a joke. WARNING: HUEG RANT AHEAD LONGER THAN I EXPECTED IT TO BE Sony: Broke away from the playstation marketing model and is suffering due to it. The PS1 and PS2 were successes for similar reasons the Wii is a success: It was cheap. It was the weakest console in both generations, but it was dirt cheap, easy to develop for and had a very simplistic approach. Now we have the PS3, which is still the most expensive console in the last two generations, absurdly expensive to develop for, absurdly difficult to develop for, and has a more complicated approach, which puts off the more casual gamers, who were the original reason for the playstations success back in the 90's. Those who claim nintendo created the casual gamers doesn't know their recent gaming history, I'm afraid. Also their marketing team is a joke. It's insane price was advertised as a good thing, and they just don't know how to price stuff even now. PSP GO! for 250? Absurd. Less features, higher price. Microsoft: Rushed, and it shows. Poor internal design, buggy firmware and faulty hardware plague the system even now. Its roughly as powerful as the PS3, which is good, but it was marketed to the "hardcore" and to one side of the casual market for too long, and now its desperately trying to go for the other side while struggles to hold onto the other two markets. Its on its last legs anyways, its only a matter of when the Nextbox is announced. Nintendo: Broke away from their market model just like sony did, but it worked for them. The NES, SNES, N64 and GCN were all more powerful than their same-gen counterparts (NES vs Genesis notwithstanding, as well as N64 Vs Saturn. Both of those are different gen consoles, its like comparing the 360 to the PS2), and once the 3D games started coming, nintendo started hurting. So, they throw together a cheap console (much like the PS1/2) built on potential (just like the PS3) with an inexpensive control scheme that radically changes gameplay. Hell, the Wii wasn't even supposed to do anything more than hold Nintendo over until the next console, it wasn't supposed to be the smash hit of the last decade. Now they have a runaway success on their hands, and so far, its pretty clear that nintendo doesn't know what to do with it. End result is the kiddy image with great games few and far between. At least developers are finally taking it seriously. Gaming in general: Simpler and easier. Once consoles took the reins, the PC market dwindled, and we of the PC Master Gaming Race (PCMGR) are stuck with dumbed down console games on our PC's, with really great, complex, in depth PC games few and far between. Thankfully, those few games really are marvelous, PC ports can be modded for added gameplay elements (The savior of Fallout 3 as I see it) and older, awesome games can still be played (Deus Ex, Thief, Age of Empires, Elder Scrolls, System Shock, etc). Of course, there are notable exceptions to the plague of casualing games. Mass Effect, Bioshock (to an extent, System Shock 2 was much better and BS2 looks terrible), Fallout 3, Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, Assassins Creed (<3), Twilight Princess (to an extent), etc are all standout games of this generation, gameplay wise, squashing out pitiful shooters like Halo. If only every developer looked to these games for inspiration, then I'd be a much less cynical person. Edited by Semianonymous, Jul 16 2009, 11:26 AM.

I have to agree with what Semi has said, and as an add on, Nintendo also decided to not work on upgrading the graphics, clamming that they're going for the New, Advanced gaming experience. But, as for the original question......I can't decide. I like them all pretty much equally. |
