Game Set Up

This is a game in which we as a forum operate a gym leader system like the ones found in many other Pokemon games. As I am sure you already know, a gym leader system consists of

~ 8 gyms each with a unique gym leader and a unique theme to that leader's Pokemon team
~ 1 unique badge per gym, 8 in total, which are gained by beating the gym that holds that badge
~ An Elite Four trainers which can only be fought after all the badges are obtained.
~ A Grand Champion who has beaten all of the Elite Four and the Champion before him/her.

The goal of the game is to become the Grand Champion!

Rules for all Battles

The following rules MUST be adhered to in all battles

~ Evasion Clause must be ON
~ Extended Game Clause must be OFF
~ Item Clause must be OFF
~ Level Balance Clause must be OFF
~ Little Cup Clause must be OFF
~ OHKO Clause must be ON
~ Random Battle Clause must be OFF
~ Sleep Clause must be ON
~ Soul Dew Clause must be ON
~ Species Clause must be ON
~ Strict Damage Clause must be ON
~ Timed Battle Clause must be ON

~ No Uber Pokemon

~ Unless the option of a WiFi battle is offered by the Gym Leader, Elite Four member, or Grand Champion and requested by the Challenger any battles must take place on Shoddy Battle, preferably Smogon University Server.

~ If a battle is over WiFi the aforementioned clauses must still be adhered to.

~ If any of the clauses are broken on WiFi, the clause breaker automatically loses the match

~ If the challenger when challenging over Shoddy fail to activate and unactivated the correct clauses when Challenging the Gym Leader, Elite Four, or Grand Champion the Challenger automatically loses the match.

~ All Pokemon used over WiFI must be game play legal, but may be obtained by using an external device (i.e. Gameshark and Action Replay)

Special Rules for Gym Battles

~ Gyms are number 1 to 8
~ Each Gym has a specific theme as noted in the Gym Leader's information section
~ The Gym Leaders must battle a team that follows the theme of their gym
~ The Challenger may use whatever non uber team they chose, but it is preferable that they use their favorites not the strongest.team.ever.
~ If a Challenger win then they obtain that Gym's badge and may continue on their challenge and they also get their name recognized on that gym leader's page with the date they won
~ If the challenger loses then they may continue to re challenge the gym
~ The way that a gym leader conducts the order in which they do their matches is up to them, but lets not be lazy and lets be fair

Numbering of Gyms

~ Gyms are assigned a number from 1 to 8
~ This number is based off a seniority of being a gym leader
~ The most senior gym leader will be gym # 8
~ The 2nd most senior gym leader will be gym #3
~ The 3rd most senior gym leader will be gym #2 and so on until...
~ The least senior gym leader will be gym # 1

Gym Leader Tenure

~ Once you are a gym leader you are forever tenured as a gym leader unless
~ You step down as Gym Leader
~ You are severely moderated (suspensions, bans)
~ You purposely break the rules or cheat
~ You are unable to fulfill your duties as gym leader for an extended period of time (1-2 week) without letting the players, Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Grand Champion know. You can notify them by posting it in both your Gym thread on the main game thread (aka this thread).
~ You are unable to fulfill your duties as a gym leader for a very extended period of time (2-4) weeks without letting the players, Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Grand Champion know and without naming a substitute. You may let the players, Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Grand Champion know of your inability by the same method noted above. The substitute you choose is at your discretion but they must be able to fulfill your duties as Gym Leader for your absence and may not be severely moderated during their substitution. They must also use the same theme team that you do, give out the same badge you do, etc. They may not name a substitute for themselves or take extended leave.
~ You are unable to fulfill your duties as gym leader for more than 4 weeks.

Gym Leader Replacement

~ If a gym leader spot becomes open I must be filled within one week time by a secret ballot among the Gym Leaders.
~ The ballots will be sent to the gym leader of gym #8 by PM
~ If a simple majority is reached by the votes then that person becomes the new gym leader
~ If a simple majority is not reached the gym leader of gym #8 appoints one within one week of the vote.
~ Every gym leader shuffles up on spot until the spot is filled (i.e. if gym leader # 5 steps down, gym leader #4 takes gym #5, gym leader # 3 takes gym #4, etc. and the new gym leader would take gym # 1.
~The current gym leaders, although they have new numbers, do not choose new themes
~ The new gym leader does choose his theme after he has been voted in or appointed
~ This theme may not be one of the current gym leaders

Special Rules for Elite Four Battles

~ Elite Four are given numbers 1 through 4
~ In order to challenge an Elite Four member you must have beaten the lower number members first (i.e. in order to challenge member #3 you must have beaten the current #1 and #2) and have all eight badges
~ The Elite Four member must also have a theme, different than the other Elite Four members and Gym Leaders
~ The Elite Four members must use a team that is based around their theme

Elite Four Tenure

~ Elite Members are chosen on a cycle system where the most current dethroned Grand Champion is Elite Four member #4 ( the last one you battle) and the second most current dethroned Grand Champion is Elite Four member #3, etc.
~ When a new Grand Champion is crowned every Elite Four member cycles down one spot and the newly dethroned Grand Champion becomes Elite Four member #4
~ In the case that an Elite Four member is unable to perform his/her duties for an extended period of time (1-2 weeks) he/she must notify the Challengers by posting it on both their thread and the main thread.
~ In the case that an Elite Four member is unable to perform his/her duties for a very extended period of time (2-4 weeks) then the current gym leader with the highest seniority substitutes for them.
~ The substitute must do the duties of the Elite Four member.
~ If after 4 weeks the Elite Four member is unable to do his/her duties he/she loses the spot
~ Besides the above cycle, the only way for an Elite Four member to be replaced is by being severely moderated (suspension or ban)

Shoddy is just so much easier these days. We've never gotten Wi-Fi to work as a community, so I'd say Shoddy is the best for this.

Xepher's compromise with Shoddy and WiFi is good with me. Let it be at the Gym Leader's discretion to allow it and the challenger's discretion to ask for it from that Gym Leader.

I would be ok if there was a non type on the team. I mean, in my Standstorm team I might want to lead with a Metagross. That would be ok because if you still looked at the team as a whole you could say "oh that's a sandstorm team". If I could look at you team with porygon z and and still know it's a bug team that's good. We just cannot got extreme and have three fire types on a water team or something.

Edit: I can probably get at least one more person. I have two people in mind. I can text them tomorrow when it isn't super late at night.

You gotta know that gym leaders never really worked by strategy. It was more of a typing team. So you can't have a "Sandstorm Team". It'd have to be something like a Ground or Rock type team. Overthrown over here has the right idea with the whole Bug-type gym thing
