Team Vex

To vex means to annoy or disturb, and that is the battle plan of this team. It is based around moves that vex your opponent into submission, most notably the paralysis, flinch, serene grace combo that spreads havoc among the opposing team. Please rate and fix. All changes are big and the color gold.

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special Attack)
IVs: All 31
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Attack / 12 Defense / 8 Speed
~ Stealth Rock
~ Earthquake
~ Bullet Punch
~ Explosion

Metagross is without a doubt one of the best leads in the OU metagame. It is assured to set up Stealth Rock against a non-taunt using opponent and will also take a big chunk out of the opposing Pokemon's HP. Occa Berry helps it survive super effective attacks (i.e. lead Heatran's Fire Blast). It's EVs are set up to make it bulkier ans to help it hit harder with its STAB priority attack Bullet Punch with its powerful Earthquake and Explosion for type coverage. Here is a quick threat list for leads:

Blue: Minimal Threat
Orange: Minor Threat
Red: Major Threat

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Impish (+ Defense, - Special Attack)
EVs: 240 HP / 160 Defense / 76 Special Defense / 32 Speed
~ Body Slam
~ Iron Head
~ U-Turn
~ Wish

Jirachi is the first paraflincher. With Serene Grace the secondary effects of its attacks are doubled. so it is the crux of this set. Body Slam gives Jirachi a 60% chance to paralyze the opponent. Iron Head has a 60% chance to make the opponent flinch. Since paralysis drops the affected Pokemon's speed Jirachi will be able to attack first to pull off a flinch. Refresh and Wish are there to keep up Jirachi's HP and status. Impish nature, Leftovers, and its EVs are to make it bulkier to survive until the set up is done. I switched Refresh into U-Turn because I really did not have a lot of use for Refresh in my matches and U-Turn lets me pass wish and scout.

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Calm (+ Special Defense, - Attack)
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Special Attack / 252 Special Defense
~ Thunder Wave
~ Air Slash
~ Nasty Plot
~ Roost

Togekiss is set up similar to Jirachi. While Jirachi was a physical wall, Togekiss is a special wall. They both however have serene grace to enhance the chance of filching which is accomplished through Iron Head and Air Slash . They also both have recovery moves in the form of Wish and Roost. Togekiss does have a set up move, Nasty Plot, instead of Refresh for extra attacking power. These two Pokemon are two sides of the same coin and are the basis of my mid game strategy to spreed paralysis

Posted Image
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Bold (+ Defense, - Attack)
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Special Attack / 252 Defense
~ Thunder Wave
~ Leech Seed
~ Grass Knot
~ Recover

Celebi transitions the team from paraflinching to a cele-tran-water combo. Celebi also spreeds paralysis and is aided by Leech Seed recovery and Recover. It's attacking move is a STAB Grass Knot. Leftovers, it's EVs, and nature are all to help it be bulkier so it can continue to spreed paralysis and such. I have done some great stall work with this in battles. It's ability to restore HP and sap opponents HP while having a good attacking move had turned what was a 5 vs 1 battle where I was going to lose into a win for me. I wish I had recorded it to show.

Posted Image
Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Naive (+ Speed, - Special Defense)
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed
~ Fire Blast
~ Earth Power
~ Explosion
~ Hidden Power [Electric]

Switching gears is Heatran, the ultimate revenge killer is OU. He is the second part of the Cele-Tran-Water combo. His moves give him great type coverage so he can come in and finish off a few weakened foes. He can also absorb fire attacks which is this teams biggest weakness.

Posted Image
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Bold (+ Defense, - Attack)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 4 Speed
~ Surf
~ Calm Mind
~ Sleep Talk
~ Rest

Suicune finishes off this team. Its water typing helps bring a new type to the team and also helps against fire type attacks. When the opponents team is all paralyzed I can bring this in to Calm Mind up and Surf. Rest lets me heal when needed and Sleep Talk lets me attack when I am asleep. This can also serve as a sleep absorber against a spore for hypnosis.

Threat List

Blue: Minimal Threat
Orange: Minor Threat
Red: Major Threat

More of the Threat List is coming soon. Stay tuned folks

Hope you feel better soon. Your team is very good from this noob's point of view. =P

...and it would be highly vexing to me. Why can't anyone make a "Team Pushover" other than me.

I'm not feeling very well at the moment so I'll leave off here for now. A threat list and some other things are coming soon. In the mean time feel free to rate rate, fix, etc. Thanks a lot!
WANTS to make a stall team without it looking like a stall team but it is one and so yeah.

To Bonkenhi: Thanks it is running pretty smoothly. Like me PM said I'll be happy to help you fix up your "pushover" team. Make a Rate My Team thread and we can fix it up there.

To Purapura: Yeah this is my first attempt at doing some stall. Couldn't totally tell what you were tying to say, but I'll take it as a complement.

To Xepher: Why would you suggest a Cresselia and who would I replace with it?

Also more changes have been made to the original post. I did a lead threat list and am currently doing an overall threat list. Let me know if there is anything I forgot or could fix. I am also trying to get one of the team builder charts located here:

http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond_pearl/team_builder/

into my post but I can't figure out how. I also could use some battles to further test this team out if anyone is interested. My Shoddy name is TheOedipusRex and I play on the Smogon server. Thanks a lot for your help guys.

By the way, your big problem is that stalling REQUIRES you to have spikes/tspikes if you want true success.

SR only affects flying/ice/bug and if you're lucky, you'll get some more damage with dual typing, but you really need to cover the entire spectrum.

Thunder Wave is good, I guess, but the whole point of this is not to make your opponent give up, it's to bring down the team without actually having to attack it. So stuff like sandstorm, things that burn, things that poison-- that's what you need.

I haven't actually taken a good look at the actual team, but with a quick look I knew you were going to have trouble stalling

To Purapura: I see what you are saying about needing spikes and toxic spikes. I originally tied using a Foretress for it but it did not work out well. I had too much of a fire weakness and Foretress did not have the time to set up. The more I began to play with it an tweak the team it really became more offensive than stall. As you know, Metagross, Jirachi, Togekiss, and Heatran are not used to stall. Metagross is my suicide lead, Heatran does some great revenge killing, and Jirachi and Togekiss are paraflinchers. The last two stall elements on my team and Celebi and Suicune who are both also used aggressively to take down water and fire threats to the team.

All three of those can be used in stall. o.o

Anyway, here's a battle story of mine from a while back when platinum came and I wanted to make a stall team (totally forgot about that until I was looking at this xD).

^In agreement^

Tentacruel is amazing for a stall team. I just dunno what to replace on your team. Either Jirachi or Togekiss would probably be it, but Jirachi seems better here, and if you keep him in, you've got 3 Fire weaks, and 3 Fire resists, a stark contrast. It's really up to preference.

I'm not too sure about it but I would be willing to try out Tentacruel. I would probably replace Suicune as they are similar. Maybe I could replace Togekiss if not Suicune, but Togekiss is part of the paraflinch strategy. One of my concerns is that a Pokemon will be poisoned when I need it to be paralyzed. Regardless I found two sets for Tentacruel that I like. They are:

Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
Nature: Calm (+ Special Defense, - Attack)
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Defense / 136 Special Defense
~ Surf
~ Toxic Spikes
~ Sludge Bomb
~ Rapid Spin

This set has more utility than the one after it. It has Surf and Sludge Bomb as STAB attacks. Toxic Spikes is still there to induce poison and Rapid Spin can blow away entry hazards.

Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
Nature: Calm (+ Special Defense, - Attack)
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Defense / 200 Special Defense
~ Toxic Spikes
~ Surf
~ Sleep Talk
~ Rest

This is set more defensive. It still has Toxic Spikes for poison and Surf to attack but Sludge Bomb and Rapid Spin are replaced by Rest and Sleep Talk to improve Tentacruel's durability.

On another note I switched Refresh on Jirachi for U-Turn. Refresh was useless in my matches and U-Turn lets Jirachi scout and pass Wish. I also changed up the EV spread.

Yeah I have been busy. I've been play testing a lot with Shoddy. You'd do well against me Shaun. Care for a battle to prep for the tournament?
