Right. This here thread is for posting your characters for the Council Of Wardens rp. I'm going to ask that you reply in a set format, since it makes it easier to check over the characters.
Right. Name, Age and Gender is obvious. Physical Description is how they look, both in terms of actual "look" and things like posture, usual clothing styles, etc. Mental Description is their personality, way of thinking, and so on. Talents, Skills, Etcera are those things your character can do; are they good at running, or firing handguns, or crochet, or what? Possessions are what yor character owns; this will probably be easier if you split it into their stuff, and all the stuff that the Council provides for their use. Finally, Merits is where you stick a bulletpoint summary of everything that is good about the character, and then Flaws is where the bulletpoint summary of everything bad goes, in order to allow people to see at a glance how well they can do different things. (It also helps to kill any Mary Sues, although from what I can tell so far there's none of them in here yet.) Also, if you want to play a supernatural i.e. anyone who isn't fairly normal human being, then be ready to justify it, simply because the majority of the supernatural out there wouldn't be interested, and I'd prefer to avoid the All-Drow-Are-Chaotic-Good-Rebels-Throwing-Off-The-Chains-Of-Their-Race cliche. (Yes, I know it's a double post, but it keeps the main character stuffs out of the informativeness up there, so it's kinda handy from my point of view.) Name: Douglas Braeden Age: 42 Gender: Male Physical Description: Douglas generally looks very neat and tidy, and takes care in his appearance. It's rare to see him outside of a suit, although he has had most of his suits modified to take into account the nature of his work, which tends to make them a little more bulkier than before. He used to wear small professional looking glasses, but switched to contact lenses soon after he began working for the Council due to the nature of the job continuously dislodging them. Despite this, when reading in private he will generally still wear glasses instead of contact lens simply because they are more comfortable. His face is fairly worn, and he still has a lot of small scars from the various small and not-so-small injuries he has sustained over the years. Douglas keeps his dark black hair short but still long enough to convey a sense of presentability to it; the concept of shaving it to near baldness seems like a ridiculous thing to do. Physically, he appears a bit taller than his 5 feet 10 inches would suggest; this is primarily due to the way that he always holds himself straight, rather than slouching. The only other pieces of notable clothing that Douglas wears are his thin leather gloves (with the grip roughened to make it easier to keep a good grip on whatever weapon he is currently wielding) and his shoes, which while still neat black shoes, do make a steel toe cap and sole in order to protect him from debris and aid in kicking down the occasional door. Mental Description: Victorian would be too simplistic, although Douglas certainly gives off that air. He likes to speak fluently, and will use certain turns of phrases that most other people would consider somewhat archaic. He can respond to changing situations well, and tends to not notice injuries until such point as the danger that caused them has passed, sometimes being a little too focused on the job at hand. He's had enough experience now not to get scared easily, and tends not to back down from conflicts unless it's obviously a bad idea to start fighting. He tends to be somewhat studious when dealing with life; it is part of the reason that he is considered one of the Council of Hand's better in-the-field researchers. Anything of import normally ends up in one or another of his journals, each of which is a small black book which is kept along with a fountain pen and two spare cartridges in his inside pocket. Douglas does not enjoy violence, but accepts it to be a physical reality and a necessity when dealing with things that try to kill you first. Socially, Douglas is friendly, but always keeps a little distance due tio a combination of a sense of personal space and the knowledge that the career he and others like him have chosen is not well known for receiving the Queen's telegram. Talents, Skills, Etcera: Douglas has a number of these. Firstly, he is very observant, noticing small things others may not. Secondly, he has learnt proficiency with a wide range of weapons, if not necessarily mastery; against a normal opponent, about 80 - 90 % of his attacks would hit. Douglas is also very well read, capable of dredging up obscure pieces of information from all over the place. Finally, Douglas has the ability to survive somewhat more than most, partly as a result of the frequent injuries he has had over the years, and partly due to his demeanour (a kind of "never mind, it happens" attitude to injury) and focus. Douglas has also dabbled a little in alchemy, specificially in various elixirs of strength, wisdom and so on, albeit with only marginal success; the only vials he tends to keep with him are his alchemical elixirs of rejuvenation, since they can keep him going for a couple more hours when the night drags on. Merits: x Resistant to injury x Minor alchemical skills x Near-encyclopedic knowledge, espescially occult x Wide range of weapon proficiencies x Friendly demeanour x Several supernatural contacts (some of whom may even be willing to act as allies should he really need it) Flaws: x Somewhat overfocused at times x Tendency to take unnecessary risks x Holds to a much stricter social code than modern day morals (opens doors for women, politeness, etcera.) x Prefers to ask questions first, shoot later, which sometimes gets him in trouble Possessions: Douglas himself owns the following :- Small country house in the moors Several suits Car - middle level estate Double barrelled shotgun Magnum .357 revolver Hunting rifle with scope Gun licenses for the above three weapons Douglas has been "given" the following by the Council :- Several different types of bullet and shotgun shell (from silver to armour piercing). Crossbow + Stake Arrows Modified suits (inlaid with protective plate aluminium) Small alchemical laboratory Various alchemical ingredients Access to the Grey Knight Mansion library (a library which has one of Britain's largest private collection of occult related texts) Edited by Ben Miff, Mar 7 2008, 06:02 PM.

Sounds like "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". How about a stereotypical brash American backwoodsman, would you like one of those? Either that or the spooky spirit medium lady. Let me know, and I'll work whichever one you like up. |

Either one will do (I don't mind), although I should warn you that for the spooky spirit medium lady, depending on which way it is taken it could get... risky. In the setting, black magic is dangerous enough that the Council wouldn't hire anyone who used it without some serious justification, since black magic corrupts the very nature of a person (and while different people go different ways, it's never a pleasant way.) As a result, you'd probably be the white magic type of medium, which is much more protective and communicative than commanding spirits to go torment some person or another. (Protection, in this case, does involve a little more than just shielding people from spiritual attacks, though it can do that too; rather, if you happen to have spirits on friendly terms with you, then you can get them to shield you from harm as well; a poltergeist can stop bullets, while a kami might offer healing, and so on.) |

*shrugs* She would've been a kind of grey spooky spirit medium, but it doesn't matter. I like the brash American better anyway, so I'll work him up. When he's ready, I'll edit this post to put him in it. |

Name: NB: I'm probably going to work on this piecemeal, as RL has been jumping up and biting me a lot lately. Sorry about that. If it makes you feel any better, I'm woefully behind on every last one of my boards, not just this one. Name Luke Forchet Age: 25 Gender: Male Physical Description: Luke is tall, lanky, and raw-boned, with something of an unfinished look about him, as if whoever was molding him left off before getting to the fine details. He keeps his shock of carroty hair shorn in a conservative short cut - above the ears, above the collar - which only serves to emphasize the square strength of his jaw and the high, narrow bridge of his nose. His skin is light and bears a thick crop of freckles, along with a few random scars picked up over the course of an outdoor life. He has pale grey eyes with irises rimmed in black, the gaze of which can be disconcertingly intense. Under normal circumstances, he can be found in worn blue jeans, hikers, and either a t-shirt or a plaid flannel shirt, depending on the weather. For more formal situations, he will don chinos, cowboy boots, and a Hawaiian shirt - the louder the better. As for suits, he will only wear one when made to, and will appear horribly uncomfortable the entire time he has to wear it. Mental Description: Talents, Skills, Etcera: Merits: Flaws: Possessions: |
