Ugly Crying
|
Tanjiro seemed to always be full of people. It could be hard to get to your favorite store when it was packed full, but Atsuko didn't mind. She enjoyed the endless wave of chatter, cheerful yells of children playing, and the large crowds. It made Tanjiro seem full of life. She always found it relaxing in crowded, loud places for some reason. Of course, she didn't want to experience it alone, so she invited Hideki to come with her. They hadn't done anything together for a while now that was outside the Ruins, so she felt it was good to just be normal kids for once. She leaned against the wall outside of the store that sold candy and dug through her bag. "I can't wait to try all these when I get home!" She said happily. "Did you grab anything, Hideki-kun?" It was a little crowded in there so she didn't actually see if Hideki grabbed something or if he just roamed around. "Let's take a quick break from walking around. Who knew running around Tanjiro when it's packed could be so tiring." She said. Atsuko waited for a response and looked out into the crowds of people. Maybe she would see something interesting. |

Indeed, it felt good to be normal. "Normal" was something he hasn't experience for a good while after all. The whole 'Miss Yellow's Key' provided Hideki with an opportunity to not be a User for a while, as he knew the entrance was barred for him, unless he wanted to confront her directly. Right now, all he could do was wait for Naoya to deal with it and the key copy he gave to him, and the meantime, all he had to do was just be a normal person. He was Hideki Tachibana, Second year student at Taiyoutono High School, club member of the Drama Club, and part timer at Kaneshiro Metalworks. It was perfectly normal to have this many responsibilities. Kinda. But he didn't just have responsibilities, he also had friends. Friends such as Atsuko Hiroyuki, whom he was spending time with at the moment. While the reunion was mostly to distract himself from his predicament, he also wanted to honestly hang with her, as they haven't done that for a while. and right now, they were having a trip inside of Tanjiro, with their lastest stop being a candy store. "Yeah, I got me some nice gummies." He said, as he held s tiny and colorful bag of gummy candy. He wasn't 100% hungry at the moment, but he couldn't say no to some gummies. ""Phew, sounds good to me. I tend to forget how taxing it can be at a moment like this." And with that, he leaned next to her, letting out a small sigh. Unlike Atsuko, Hideki wasn't looking at the crowd, or anything for that matter. His eyes looked at nothing in particular, as he merely took in the scenery in front of him. Tanjiro was still as horrible as always. The things he endured just to pursue his goals... Senjiro was curled up on a bench far in the back, his heels up on the seat and knees in front of his face, eyes struggling to focus on the small screen of his phone; all of this to try and block the restless crowd from his view. It didn't work, but even if it had there was still the noise. That, and he was running out of distractors; after running out of sites to check updates for, the green-haired boy let go of the small device letting it slide down to his stomach, and pressed both hands against his ears with a groan. Why in the hell did the landlord take so long to call or text back?! He doesn't understand, inconsiderate prick. There was a saying, "third time's the charm". Meaning this time for sure, Senjiro would completely flip out and do something drastic if he had to spend one more minute in that goddamned place. Edited by Parorou, Jun 2 2018, 12:34 PM.

"It's a lot easier than our usual activities, though!" Atsuko joked. She would take mobs of people in a mall over crowds of Shadows in a crumbling laboratory. At least here you could buy things you like. Atsuko wondered if there was ever going to be a time when they wouldn't have to worry about the Ruins and the angry Black Hoods who hated them. She was thinking of going to an art school somewhere else in a few years after graduation, but she also didn't like the idea of leaving the city when the Ruins were still active. 'Guess I'll have to work extra hard to help solve the mysteries of the Ruins then.' She thought. Her eyes landed on a guy around their age sitting alone on a bench, not looking too happy about being here. "I've seen that guy in the halls of Reitaku." Atsuko said. "He doesn't look thrilled to be here." She looked at him for a few moments, then Hideki would notice her eyes lit up. Like she had an idea. He would probably realize what Atsuko was about to do. Atsuko was already walking towards the guy, a big smile on her face. She looked at the boy. "Hello!" She beamed. |

He couldn't help but let out a nervous chuckle at her words. Yes, in comparison to confronting Shadows and the Black Hoods, going to a particularly crowded area of Nagashima felt like it was a cakewalk. People might try to mug you, but not kill you. Of course, he knew that it was only going to be a matter of time before he was thrust into that world again, by confronting the big woman herself, so he might as well enjoy the moment while he could. However, he had a lapse in judgement that day, and forgot that Atsuko was, indeed, Atsuko, and noticed some random boy sitting all by himself. "Oh? So he's a classmate?" Indeed, the guy looked rather down. Maybe he had big things to worry about? Or maybe he didn't like being there at all? Hideki didn't know, and Atsuko wasn't going to go home with the doubt, as she went towards him. "Ah, wait Atsuko-san, I dunno if he'd like to be dis-" He started, as he followed the girl, only to clam down when she greeted him. Edited by Silverion, Feb 24 2018, 12:17 PM.

It took him a second or two to realize that the voice he'd heard very close to his side was indeed, directed at him. He lowered his hands and turned his face to the girl, who looked... kinda like him on his worst days; pale and weak, but had eye-catching orange hair. Now that he thought of it, he might have seen this peculiar girl before, though he couldn't remember where. Her cheerful greeting was still baffling, as they were definitely not friends, neighbors, or even classmates. Senjiro straightened up a little, just letting one foot slide down to the floor. "Um. Hi," he greeted her back, his eyes shooting to the side as he had just noticed her friend standing close. "You need something?" His nerves were still a mess, but Senjiro tried to offer them a sincere smile which came out a bit shaky. |

'Uh oh. He seems nervous, I better be careful. Use the same techniques you used for Kiku.' Atsuko thought. In hindsight, it probably wasn't the best idea to approach him immediately and say hi. Too late for that now. "Nope! You just looked a little uncomfortable and I was checking up to see if everything was ok!" She explained. That probably didn't help calm him down. She smiled at the boy. "Let me guess. You don't like busy places like this, huh?" Atsuko said. "I don't blame you. It can be overwhelming at times!" Based on his demeanor before meeting him, and his nervous reply, she assumed that this guy probably didn't do well in social settings. Nothing wrong with that, but this probably wasn't the best place for someone like that. Then again, Tanjiro could be calm on the right days too. "By any chance, do you go to Reitaku? I've seen someone who looks like you in the halls there." She asked. "I'm Atsuko Hiroyuki, second year!" |

Well, that at least showed that she meant well, although Hideki didn't know that such a reason would resonate well with someone like Senjirou, who indeed looked like he didn't want to be bothered. Sheepish, meek, nervous, it was like staring into a mirror, or at least, Agni thought so. He stood next to Atsuko as she tried to guess why he was there. "Maybe you were sent on a small errand? There are a lot of places to check out here after all." He spoke up, in an attempt to not look like some sort of speechless henchman of hers. After all, he already had to deal with being Gwyn's 'henchman.' And then she started with the introductions. It'd be rude to not speak up, so he did. "And I'm Hideki, Tachibana. Second year as well. I'm actually from Taiyoutono, but I don't recognize you." |

So this girl was just a kind soul that was worried about him, and Reitaku was where Senjiro had seen her before. "Yeah, Reitaku first-year. Senjiro Chigusa. And, um. I'm okay, don't worry." If Atsuko had picked up on his reclusive nature at school, it could explain why she had decided to approach him: was she simply trying to be a good senpai? Other than the expected use of honorifics, Senjiro didn't know much about school hierarchy dynamics, but he wasn't going to complain; she and her friend were already helping by giving him something to focus on other than the crowd. On his part, Hideki seemed conflicted about being there though more out of shyness than indifference, as he was being just as pleasant as the girl. More at ease, Senjiro lowered his other leg to the floor and shifted on the seat, so he was facing both students directly. "Nice meeting you, Hiroyuki-senpai, Tachibana-kun." He bowed only slightly. "You're both right," he said, "I hate this place, and was sent to get some stuff for someone." With a little frown, he grabbed the phone on his lap and lowered his head to stare at the screen. "Stupid client won't call me, though," he muttered to himself. After a small groan, Senjiro shoved the device into the bag next to him, and finally stood up. "Anyway, you like places like this? Bunch of people do. Um, obviously..." He gave a deep sigh, his eyes shooting to the side and looking at the crowd for a split second. "Guess I just gotta get used to them." Atsuko laughed. She liked being called "senpai", it made her feel cool for some reason. "I personally enjoy crowds, Chigusa-kun! But, I understand why you wouldn't like them. Too much people would make anyone go insane." She said. Poor guy. Tanjiro definitely didn't seem like the best place for him. He was probably just ready to go home. "I wouldn't say you have to get used to them. But, learn how to cope with it. Try to find a less populated area, come during times when it's slower, and try to find a nice spot where you can calm down if things get too intense!" She suggested. That seemed like a good thing to do, especially since Tanjiro was essential to go to, at least in her mind. "Hmm. I don't feel right about leaving you here to find these areas by yourself." She said. "Oh, I know! Why don't Hideki-kun and I show you around? We'll help you find the best spots in Tanjiro! And we can get to know each other better! How about it, Chigusa-kun, Hideki-kun? I wouldn't be a good Senpai if I just left my underclassmen stranded here, so let's go together!" She knew it might be a bit much for Senjiro to handle, and she did feel bad for dragging a stranger into her and Hideki's hang out. But she felt she needed to help her underclassmen, that was her duty after all! |
