"Hehe!" Makiho put her hands on her hips when Emi told her not to sell herself short. Not in front of another young girl, she would never! "I know how to work myself. But you, look at you! You are a perfect Japanese beauty." And okay, that was probably too much. Not only for the words she'd said -heavy, perhaps even uncomfortable- but because her voice had gotten a bit too loud; she was getting too carried away with this. Makiho blushed, embarrassed, and covered her mouth with one hand as she gave a step back. Nobody in the store seemed to be bothered, but she still cleared her throat as an apology. "Oops," was all she said in a very small voice, more to herself than anything, and decided to focus in Emi's now accesorized outfit. The discreet red in the belt provided a good splash of color without being disruptive; the result being an eye-catching outfit that still appeared to be monochromatic. An effective fashion cheat. Makiho smiled, full of pride. "Hmm yes. Perfect. This is absolutely you, Emi-chan!" When she heard Emi say "soon", she gasped and lifted her eyebrows. "Oh, you're meeting your friend now? Ah, I wanted to shop for a little longer..." Makiho sighed, but shrugged and smiled immediately after. "Well, what can you do? She stepped aside, leaving Emi's way open to the acessories aisle. "They have a good selection of bows here, so don't fret if you want to try on something else." Unfortunately, Makiho couldn't help with choosing this piece in particular, as she knew nothing of this mysterious friend of Emi's. A white bow didn't tell her much. Emi was forced to turn slightly away from Makiho as she delivered her next line. The red in her face was apparent despite the neutral expression she forced onto her face. "Now you're just flattering me." She didn't seem to notice just how loud Makiho spoke. At this rate she was more focused on NOT having a large grin on her face. "You think so?" Emi looked down at her outfit. She normally didn't go for violet...Still, it DID look good and it was about as eye-catching as her usual. It was just less....aggressive. "I think I'll get this then." She nodded to herself. She'd probably grab a bag for her old clothes. Hopefully she could get the stains out... "My apologies. I'm supposed to be meeting Eun-san soon." Emi hesitated a moment. "If you'd like, we can continue this another day. Maybe pick some outfits out for you next time?" As for the bows, Emi went right towards the lighter colors. "Eun-san is pretty small and cute. I figured a small white bow would fit her perfectly." Emi idly explained her choice as she pulled out a similar looking bow to the one she'd bought previously. Though Emi could tell at a glance the material used was of a higher quality. Naturally that meant it would be more expensive. She checked the price tag and scowled. For fuck's sake, that was ridiculous. Still, she was gonna get Eun a gift if she had to rob this fucking store. |

This girl was adorable, Makiho thought. What she was showing wasn't the forced humbleness proper Japanese behavior mandated, but a legitimate struggle to accept compliments and trying to put on a tough front; but not enough that she'd avoid gushing about hair. What a strange girl! Makiho shook her head to let her know she didn't need to apologize, and her face illuminated with a smile at her suggestion. "I'd love to. I was itching for a chance to know all the best stores in this city!" Her mother was just too busy, and that aside, Makiho did want to meet new people in Nagashima. She had been very fortunate to run into Emi, even with the ugly circumstances. Makiho walked closely behind her new friend, looking at the bows and ribbons that caught her eye; it seemed a white bow was the gift she was determined to get for her small, cute, and Korean friend. She did notice her groan when checking the price, which was... not that bad, in her opinion. The prices here couldn't compare to what she was used to. "Can you afford these right now?" Makiho spoke up, pointing at the bow and outfit Emi was wearing, "I can take care of it. I'm not going to condone putting yourself in danger, Emi-chan, but you did hold that man up for the police." She winked at her and lowered her voice, "And truth be told, I'm glad you messed him good, so let me spoil you a little." She didn't even wait for her reply before she started to turn to the girl at the counter. When that was done, she turned back to Emi. "Do you by any chance attend Taiyoutono?" She fished out a white phone from her bag, two small crystals hanging from it. "If not, let's just exchange numbers and plan something next week, if that works for you." |

"Well, you definitely found the right tour guide." A bit of pride crept into Emi's voice as she spoke. "I've lived in Nagashima my whole life. I pretty much know the city like the back of my hand." Given all her wanderings, that was pretty much true at this rate. Emi's eyes trailed down towards the ground as Makiho offered to pay for the outfit and bow for her. She wasn't one to accept handouts, but it definitely could be her 'pay' for dealing with her harasser, even if it was only for a moment. Ugh, who was she kidding, rationalizing it certainly didn't make it any better in her book. "I don't know about that. Letting you pay for all this seems..." Emi trailed off, the word escaping her. Before she could protest any further, it seemed that Makiho was already paying for it all. Geez... When she turned back around, she'd see Emi holding out enough yen for the bow, a defiant look across her face. "At least let me pay for the bow. It's a gift for Eun-san, I want it to be from me one hundred percent." After a moment she hesitated. "I can pay the rest back next time we meet." "Nah, I'm at Reitaku." She sincerely doubted she'd be let into Taiyoutono with her record. Besides, given how prestigious it was, she assumed it was full of rich, smug assholes. She preferred the company of broke and angry assholes. They were at least a little easier to deal with. "That works for me." She stated, holding out her phone. It itself was pretty plain, though there was a large crack across it. She'd whipped it at people's heads on more than one occasion. It still worked, so she figured she could go a little longer before replacing it. |

Makiho's eyes sparkled when she saw Emi's extended hand, and the way she was looking at her. Makiho would have loved to simply gift her the things, but whether Emi's motive was pride or social obligation, she still was willing to pay for her own. She really, really liked this girl! Makiho didn't insist and grabbed the bills with an elegant movement of her fingers. "You're right," she told her; thought she had the bitter fleeting thought of the girl having to pay an actual 200% due to the subway man. She should probably pass by the station later and ask how the situation had resolved... The stores would be open for a good while. Makiho slid the bills in a small pocket inside her bag. "You can pay it back whenever you're able to. I won't be needing that money soon, so please don't worry about it, okay?" She gave her a reassuring smile, which kept up even when she learned where this stylish girl studied. Was she that low-class...? Leaning forward to focus her eyes on the small cracked screen -geez, how could she use that thing?- Makiho wrote the number down on hers, and tapped the call button. When Emi's phone started to buzz, she hung up immediately. "That's me," she stated with a chirpy voice, and dropped the device inside her bag again. "Leave when you have to, I think I'll look around this store for a bit. They have such lovely things..." She looked around the store careful not to give her back to Emi, her eyes scanning for the pastels. She then added, with a smile, "Oh, and bring your friend Eun-chan when we meet, if she wants to come!" |

Emi simply gave a slow nod as the money was taken from her. At least Makiho didn't put up resistance in that front. "Mmm..." She gave yet another nod as Makiho told her to simply 'not worry about it.' Of course Emi would anyway. She wasn't really a fan of owing anyone anything. She'd get back the money as soon as possible. Emi quickly entered Makiho's name into her phone. It seemed her list of contacts was growing at an exponential rate. Haru, Senjiro, Eun, now Makiho. She really wasn't used to all this socialization. She wasn't sure if she really liked it yet, though this experience certainly was a positive one. "I think I'll head out now. I don't want to be late." Maybe she'd get some wrapping for the bow too...Or is that going too far? Emi pondered this as she turned to leave. She suddenly hesitated and turned. "Oh by the way...Thanks Makiho-san." She gave one last nod at Makiho's last words. "Maybe I'll do that...Just don't tell her I called her small and cute." And like that Emi walked out the door. Hopefully the rest of the day would be smooth sailing. |
