Loud chartreuse from head to toe. It was almost like a beacon in the middle of the night, especially contrasted against the more subdued and neutral colors the bench or the fountain behind it. He didn't really try to stand out, but he also didn't especially care if he did. That was the kind of mindset that has a man decide to go grocery shopping in a tracksuit This shade with a a pair of evenly spaced white stripes down the side of jacket and pants alike. Wearing sneakers almost the same shade, with black as a secondary color emphasized the outfit even further. But it was fine, it was his day off and he was freed to spend it however he liked and wearing whatever he liked. That was his reasoning for sitting at one end of a bench with one leg crossed over his knee at the ankle and an arm leisurely rested against the back of the bench and keeping a shopping bag full of shoe boxes well in hand. He let his head tilt back until he was staring up at the shopping center's ceiling. He never bothered to notice that array of skylights and hanging lamps that kept the place lit before. His mind was freed to wonder. It was time to consider lunch. Did he return home and make it there or just eat out? It was kind of a shame to waste such a nice day indoors… You couldn't tell to look at him at the moment, but this man was a perfectly respectable school teacher, and who worked at a less than respectable highschool. |

Civilization could fall, the oceans could burn, and the world could end, but Momo Makoto would still be out at the mall, shopping her stress away. She'd never shop for food or pick up a meal in an establishment like this - she wouldn't be caught dead eating some of the crap they served in the food court. For sheer convenience and number of stores, though, Tanjiro couldn't be beat. She'd been clothes shopping, picked up a new appliance for her apartment kitchen, and even nabbed a couple of knick-knacks to give to Ryuunosuke and his friends as presents the next time she saw them. The trip had left her laden with a good number of bags, though, so Momo plopped herself down on the bench, unaware of how loudly she sighed as she did so. It was a bit uncharacteristic of her to make such a disheveled gesture in public, but she had not been having an ordinary month. Magic existed, apparently, her little brother was not doing well at all, and also him and all of his friends had been risking their lives for no real reason that Momo could understand. It was a lot to take in, and it showed in the bags under her eyes. Momo let her bags drop to the floor in front of her, leaning back and not noticing Hideyoshi sitting next to her. She closed her eyes and rubbed the bridge of her nose, grumbling, "Ugh..." |

His mind was pulled back from wherever it was left to roam and rooted firmly back onto the ground and into the presence by the arrival of the unfamiliar woman. She sat down hard and didn't even seem to know that he was there. She had a lot of shopping bags from various places. Retail therapy, he suspected. After he had a good look at her, he raised a hand in an easy greeting and smiled, a little encouragement went a long way when a person was suffering from a bad day like that. "Good afteroon, miss." |

Her mind kept going back to the meeting she had at Taiyoutono where she divulged the nature of Ryuunosuke's illness. They had agreed to have the dorm manager check up on him frequently, and Ryuunosuke had assured both her and the staff that he was in no immediate danger of... that, but every second Momo spent away from her little brother still hurt. Anxiety clutched at her innards every moment when her eyes weren't on him, able to make sure that he was safe and sound and... "Ugh." The sound came out involuntarily. Ryuunosuke was supposed to be the one with emotional issues, not her. Momo was his older sibling, but regardless of what she did, she couldn't do a damn thing to make his problems go away. The sudden greeting caused Momo to jump, straightening her back and removing her hand from her face. She turned to see a stranger sitting next to her, having gone unnoticed just before. "Oh um, good afternoon," Momo quickly said, bowing her head. "Sorry if I bothered you. Just... feeling tired." |

He smiled broadly at her and shook his head. "Oh, please don't mind me…though you do seem pretty hard time of it." She was a total stranger to Hideyoshi, he didn't even know her name. But when a situation arises where someone is clearly distressed in front of you there are two paths you can take: You can either ignore it and shy away, or you can attempt to do something about it. Obviously, he was going to take a crack at the latter. "What seems to be the problem? It's a bit odd to ask out of the blue, but perhaps talking to someone about it might help?" |

Momo chuckled stiffly. This stranger didn't know the half of it. "Ahah... yes, you could say that." He pressed a little further, surprising Momo. She didn't know this person at all. Why was he so interested? She just shook her head. "I appreciate the thought, but it's... a bit of a personal issue." Some stupid, sarcastic imp in Momo's mind immediately giggled at her choice of vocabulary, but she paid it no mind. She wasn't going to get anywhere listening to the advice of strangers... though, to be fair, she also wasn't getting anywhere solely on her own insight. Ah, what the hell? It wasn't like she'd ever see this guy again. "Well, actually... it's about my little brother." She turned to Hideyoshi and cracked a little smile, joking, "You don't happen to have any insight into the mind of teenage boys, do you?" |

"I see." He was being a bit too forward. Being a good Samaritan was one thing, but most people weren't ready to spill all their problems to the first stranger that they bumped into on any given day. That was exactly normal, after all. Perhaps it was simply best he moved on? But about the time he had that thought, the young woman seemed to have changed her course quite abruptly. He smiled knowingly when she asked if he happened to know a thing or two about teenaged boys. "As it so happens, I teach at a high school, so I might know a thing or two." A concerned big sister. It sounded like a major issue to her at least, so he was ready to do his best to help her. "I'm Hideyoshi Wada, by the way." |

Momo blinked. Oh, wow - this guy might actually have some sort of insight. If he was a teacher, he probably dealt with angst-ridden teenage boys all the time, right? She smiled and bowed again, deeper this time, when Hideyoshi introduced himself. "Momo Makoto," she responded. "Conveniently, my little brother is a high school student. Um..." Momo hesitated again - would Ryuu mind her just handing out his personal dilemmas to a stranger? And for that matter, how was she even supposed to word all this to someone who might not even know about the world of persona users? About the fact that magic existed? When Momo thought about it, the fact that she didn't know until about a month ago just felt... absurd. "He's been feeling really down lately," Momo eventually settled on, immediately feeling how much of an understatement it was the second the words came out of her mouth. "I mean, in, like... he's depressed. He's got a lot of problems I don't understand. It feels like he's in a world I just can't touch." She looked over at Hideyoshi, gauging his reaction. "Do you understand what I mean?" |

He listened attentively as she gave him a summary of the situation. He had sat up properly as he listened and allowed her to finish before he said anything. That…was not a great deal to go on. So he focused on what was there. She said that it was like he was in another world. An obvious source of distress for her. "So, what do you know about his current situation? I get that the situation sounds dire and there is a great deal of uncertainty. But right now, all I can really tell is he's mixed up in something that could lead to trouble." |

Momo opened her mouth, then closed it. That... was a complicated question. Not necessarily in what he was asking, but in what she could actually tell him. It wasn't as though she could just go around and talk about persona users to any random person. "Well," she started, "A... a friend of his died, a few months back," she said. "Since then, he's been going off and getting into... fights." She technically wasn't lying. "I can't understand why he does it, but he's promised me he'll stop, but I still don't know how to help bring his life back around. He's still hurting real bad about everything..." |
