Chijirou did a double take as he entered the store, making sure he didn't see anyone he recognized from school. The coast was clear. He moved around the store, quickly and discreetly, hunting his target. He looked at the flyer had clenchid in his hand. Today is the right day... And this is the right store... I hope they haven't sold out already... he thought. The information on the flyer was correct, there should be a limited edition signed copy of the most recent volume of 'Project Super Mahou Princess Z!', on sale here. Chijirou despised the name and cover of this manga franchise though. It was a shoujo supernatural romance manga, not his usual reading, but he had stumbled across the first issue a while back, and the plot was so good and the characters were so compelling, he had to keep reading. His only concern was making sure nobody saw him reading that bright pink book. He tucked the flyer back into his coat pocket and kept searching the store. Edited by Tobita, Oct 9 2017, 11:08 AM.

Senjirō walked with his eyes fixated on the floor. He had never been to a place that was both as spacious and full of people as Tanjiro. He hated it. His habit of being attentive to everything that happened around him was backfiring, the noise and the restless pacing and chatting of every visitor quickly overwhelming him. He had to get used to it if he was to stay in Nagashima, but for now something as simple as buying his school materials proved to be torture. He escaped into the first relatively empty store in the aisle. It was... a bookstore? No, it was specifically a comic store. Senjirō had never really been interested in them, but if he was to cool off, no harm would come from browsing the shelves until he could calm his nerves. Even if he found something that interested him, he didn't have any spare money right now anyway. He walked to the back where he could be alone, and coincidentally, on one of the shelves there a sign read "Fantasy & Science Fiction". Right in the middle, a bright pink manga volume with golden lettering caught his eye. That was not something he'd expect to find in that category, and intrigued, picked it up. "Mahou Princess Z..." He couldn't think of a name that could possibly be more generic. Despite that and the average cutesy artstyle, it seemed to be popular enough to have a "special edition". It was even signed, and sealed in thick plastic. "Who reads this stuff?" he wondered out loud, turning the small book around to read the synopsis, with no particular interest. Girls. Girls read this stuff. |

Chijirou thanked the employee who had directed him to the comic store and went on his way. He alertly walked down the isles and reached his destination. He entered a section of store without many people, checking the numbers and letters on the shelf. He found the isle that should have it in the back of the shop. He turned the corner and saw a boy about his age checking out the shelves. His mind raced. I don't think I've seen him before... But then again I've only been going for a short time... Better not risk it. he thought. He backed out of the isle and turned the corner so he was out of sight, and listened to see if it seemed like he would move anytime soon. |

A sudden movement in the corner of his eye made him jump; someone had walked into the aisle and immediately stepped back. "Sorry, I'll just put this back..." He quickly realized that if it was staff, they would have walked up to him instead of away. And the staff probably was used to the strangest customers too, and wouldn't judge him for just looking at a weird manga. So was it because it was Senjirō? Maybe someone he knew and was embarrassed to be seen there. It'd be hilarious if it was his dumb neighbor. He walked around the shelf to check... but he crashed into a stranger instead. He recognized the combination of colors that had blurred out of the aisle, so he knew it was him who'd walked in before. His worried expression reflected his own. "Shit! U-um," He stepped away, scratching the back of his head. "I mean... Sorry? I was just... yeah, leaving." He started to walk away, not realizing he was still clenching the colorful manga in his hand. |

"Oh, no problem. I was just heading to the action section." Chijirou said, kicking himself mentally after remembering the action section was in an isles on the other half of the store that he already passed. "Have a nice day!" he said as he watched the boy pass by. He quickly moved into the next isle over that wasn't the one he had been watching, grabbed a random book off the shelf and pretended to read the back to appear busy. |

"Hey, you're going to pay for that, right?" Senjirō froze right as he was walking out the door. Behind him, a young woman -the cashier- glared at him, upset, and a few feet away security was looking at him. "Shit. I'll just..." He blushed a deep red. "I'm not buying this." "Hey, no need to be embarrassed." The cashier softener her expression and put her hand on his shoulder. "Guys way older than you buy this manga. It's pretty good." He could see she was trying to ease his embarrassment, but Senjirō was actually worried about having been caught shoplifting (by accident) and all the attention he was attracting because of that. The woman dragging attention to the pink manga in his hand wasn't helping. "I-I'm not taking this, ma'am. Sorry, I'll go put it back." The cashier let him go, puzzled. He almost sprinted back to the "Fantasy" aisle, only slowing down when he was out of sight. The guy from a moment ago was standing there. He had been so startled from the crash, he'd forgotten the reason he had gone to check on him was because he had run away after seeing Senjirō. The way he'd wished him a good day had been also... sort of strange. He approached him cautiously, and cleared his throat. "Hey, do you know me or...?" |

Huh, this actually looks really interesting. I might have to buy this as well. Chijirou thought before looking up from the book at the source of the noise. The same kid from the isle was back again. "Uh... I don't think so? Do you go to Taiyoutono or something?" he asked. He noticed the manga in his hands, but made an effort not to react to it.

"No, but..." The boy was acting like nothing had happened, including the little scene Senjirō and the cashier had made a minute ago. Was he really that enthranced by his read, or he was pretending because it was Senjirō? He was being paranoid. "Okay, it's just that you saw me and hid behind the shelves. A-and then when I went because I thought you were someone I knew, th-then you-um." The boy would start getting concerned if Senjirō kept talking, so he stopped; this was not his usual self. He closed his eyes and breathed in an out very slowly, feeling the tension slide off him. When he opened them again he saw that the boy was still there, thankfully; last thing he needed was to be banned from the mall. "Sorry. I guess I am kinda scary, right?" He was a lot calmer now, but still embarrassed for being a total weirdo in front of a stranger. He noticed the teen glance at the manga in his hand for a second, and saw the perfect opportunity to change the subject. "I almost stole this. By accident." he quickly added. Oh no. He drew attention to it. Act naturally. Chijirou thought. "Oh." he said. "Are you uh, short on cash?" he asked, now worried that they were in high demand if people were trying to steal them and wherever like whether or not he'd get a copy. |

He was his age, and he was absolutely not making fun of him for holding a girly manga. Not that he minded to be made fun of, but he found it very strange. The teen didn't look like a regular otaku, so that meant he was simply very polite. Or very good at hiding his power level. "Yeah, I'm short on-wait, that's got nothing to do with this..." He collected his thoughts. "It was an accident, I sorta... forgot I had it in my hand." He let out a small embarrassed laugh. He then walked to the shelf and slid the book back in its place, taking a last look at the golden letters. "Would've sucked for them to lose this one. It's signed and stuff."
