Yes… I’d sell the souls of all humanity to the devil if I thought it’d get us a happy ending.
She can do this Chinedu thought determinedly. At this point she was the only one available to be able to handle it among the assembled persona users at the time. And yet...

He still wished that there had been some other way. Perhaps he could have gone with her at the time to double up their potential. To give her some closer backup in case bad things went down at the drop of a hat. Despite the situation so far seeming stable, he couldn't keep worrying about her. He wanted to admonish himself for not being focused on the mission at hand too, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Plenty of time to worry about that after this is all said and done. I'll have to do... a lot of thinking. Chinedu kept his ear's open wide as he heard 'Ryou's' voice answer Atsuko's own. It certainly didn't sound like a normal, calm conversation one would normally hear; then again with their little shared situation that wasn't too far from the norm. I wonder if it's possibly for Persona users to share normal conversations often.

Wei didn't pay attention to their conversation. He didn't know these people, and their emotional problems didn't really register as significant to him. He moved to his next hiding place when he was certain that Arakawa was looking away. This was taking longer than he thought it would, and it was beginning to irritate him. He was perfectly capable of waiting, and would continue to do that if he had to, but it was beginning to become a struggle.

Now?

He considered.

No.

Ugly Crying
Atsuko was able to suppress her feelings of worry. Ryou looked like he was ready to pounce. He looked like a cornered animal ready to fight to his last breath. She just had to be careful. She tilted her head in response though, out of habit really. "Huh? But I should worry. You're my classmate, and I'd feel really sad if you had to stay home because you're sick. Believe me, I know all about being stuck home because of illness!" Atsuko said with a giggle. Maybe if she just stays kind, he might calm down a little.

"I just needed... To clear my head. A lot has happened today, but I'm sure you don't want to hear all about that. I probably shouldn't walk around at night, but I'm sure it'll be fine!" She said. If he inquired more, she really needed to come up with a believable lie first. She decided to shift the conversation. "A job, huh? Where do you work? I know the school doesn't like us working, but it seems most of the students do anyway. I personally work at my parent's restaurant. It's called the Haremashita Diner, have you ever been there before?"

(Ok this is getting...)

He tried to put on a brave face, but it was becoming too much for him... the girl opposite to him was trying to be accommodating. Under normal circumstances he might brush it off, maybe even restrain himself and see this forced pleasantry as nothing more than a small annoyance, but in his current state it was draining. She seemed to go on and on with this forced concern, all of it absolutely wasted on him. He'd never understood why people chose to go to these lengths, and for what? Out of some concern for a classmate who went out of his way not to talk to anyone in class? This was especially galling when nothing about his person denoted a want of being here, or wanting to listening to Atsuko... really everything about this.

His eyes narrowed as he spied the path he was originally on before being stopped by Atsuko, and began to tap his foot through Atsuko's attempt to establish some sort of rapport with Ryou. "Uh-huh...." he said noncommittally to her comment about wanting to clear her head. As soon as she asked about his job, he made a simple gesture with his hand, pointing at the general area of the Adyton behind him, without explaining anything about it.... and oh great she's asking more questions!) Flustered, he shook his head, fully intent with powering through this conversation in as curt a manner as possible, ... and somewhat answering her question regarding her own place of employ, ... Hameshita or summat....), he snorted.

Before she could say anything, he rose his hand before him in a 'stopping' gesture, looking very very tired and annoyed and almost pathetic in his pleading for some manner of reprieve from this! "I need to get home, we can catch up some other time...." he added, offering no chance at reply as he began lurching back toward his destination intended.

All their efforts seemed to finally have overstayed their welcome. From what Chinedu could hear Atsuko's attempts at keeping Ryou complacent weren't working any longer, and the shuffling of feet after their target's last utterance could only mean one thing: He was fixing to make a run for it. That simply wasn't acceptable! Chinedu only saw one option ahead of them now, and it was the one step he wished they didn't have to do. His fingers danced quickly on his cellphone as he shot out a group text for all involved before they missed their chance:

Group Text

Need to move now, he's trying to get away from Hiroyuki-san. We won't get a second chance.

His phone buzzed, and he checked it. Time. It was time. They probably should have come up with a strategy that involved boxing him in, but there was no sense agonizing over it now. He sent back the ":D" emoji, and slipped his phone into the wire-lined pocket in his coat -- the better to protect it from any electrical discharge that he might produce.

Wei cast sukukaja on himself and dropped down into a runner's starting crouch. He was going to tackle Arakawa and silence him, then deliver the instruction about the ring -- Imoto had made that clear. It was time. It was time.

He launched himself forward, moving fast and low. His appearance would be unsettling to a normal person -- a figure in a wicker mask, his exact dimensions obscured by the long coat he wore, skittering out of the darkness. While he wasn't thinking, it was probable that the direction he was coming at them from might force Arakawa toward the park.

Fully turned away from Atsuko, he grumbled something unknowable beneath his breath, before awkwardly shambling through the street. His feet leadened by -what felt to him- several sleepless nights in the ruins, seemed to only lift through sheer force of will. He commanded them to follow, and like all good equations, they did; beginning with the parenthetical function of relaying the burden of movement, imposing will and greatly allaying the miraculous process through which locomotion was achieved.

(GREAT! now we just repeat until we get home), he reminded himself, not that he -needed- the constant assurance that he would indeed end up home, but it helped focus his mind. Unfortunately he was forced to stop, and take purchase of his surroundings -and he'd nearly gotten across the street too!- as a presence made itself known to him. Imperceptible at first, he mistook the padfoot sounds of someone approaching for Atsuko trying to flag him down.... only the stepping was decidedly less frantic more -decisive-.

The realization hit him too late, as a masked figure sprinted toward him; bounding close to the ground, like some manner of strider. It kept to the in-between of the long shadows cast by the buildings at night, even in the pall of the streetlights, the darkness elastic quivered about their person, enshrouding them aggressively. They knew to run, to leap, to keep cover; and it was working too, as for all his attempt to ascertain the direction they were coming, he could only see the faint outline of them skittering through the dark "Hiroyuki -RUN!-" he growled, thinking the figure was out for the two teens... -well- until he saw its target intended.

It was unmistakably him, though for what purpose, he couldn't even begin to discern. And he wasn't going to, because the priority was to get away fast. A little late to the race, he felt a warmth wash over him, as his attention focused singly on getting away from the immediate danger. He spun in place, starting into his own late sprint toward the park... he knew the trails, he could probably lose them there... or so he thought. The errant longing for home home turned into a retreating memory, that shrunk further into the distance, as more pressing notions occupied his mind.
