"Mrionk mroink? " "No, we're going straight home. No more onigiri from the convenience store." Andre the pig let out a disappointed grunt as he continued trotting alongside his human. He normally enjoyed these walks with Kaya as they jogged about the town. Recently however he couldn't help but sense a change in her. Her head pats were far more stiff and their walks were filled with less chats about films and food. Either way, she was still his human and... "Oh hey, piggy!" Kaya and Andre turned their attention to the voice to see a foreign looking girl who cooed as she saw the pig looking up at her. The girl spoke in English, which considering the inordinate amount of foreigners in the city should not be all that uncommon. What was uncommon about the girl however was the strange metal gauntlet on her right hand that ended in sharp Claws for each of the fingers. The girl noticed the attention that Kaya gave to her Talons. Holding it up for her, the girl answered again in English, "You like?" While Kaya's command of the language was somewhat limited, she still knew enough to know how to answer. With a nod, she answered with a heavily accented, "Yes. Is very sharp." "Well, I'm glad to know that. You can call me Kat, and that pig is cute as hell." Edited by Vect, Sep 7 2017, 02:46 AM.

The magician's arms had been full with bags of groceries. He was tired, and the bags were starting to weigh down on him, but it was definitely something he could manage. It was on his way home from work that Jin received a call from his mother. The boy had snagged an early, short shift to enjoy lunch at home with his family. Usually when his mother called with this precision, it didn't bode well for him. Did I forget to do the laundry? Was it the trash...no the trash was two days ago. He was clueless on what his mom was calling for. Now, technically his thoughts were correct, but it wasn't as bad as he made it out to be. She just wanted him to go grab groceries for lunch and that night's dinner. Not too much to do. The request wasn't really bothersome in and of itself; it wasn't hard to do, nor did it require much effort. It was just that Jin hadn't slept much the night before, and his arms were sore from shifting around heavy boxes loaded with art supplies. "Yup! On it," he replied as he changed directions from home to the super market. It wasn't too out of the way, so he couldn't complain much. Jin was just tired. Flash forward approximately an hour or so. Here Jin was, approaching a corner on his way home. Now, the boy still had a bit left to go, but he was far closer than when he started out an hour ago. When he stopped, Jin saw two things that were out of the ordinary, and the sight of one lead to seeing the other as he approached: the first, a girl with a pig for what seemed to be a pet, and then a girl with a metallic looking hand. With regards to the pets, Jin wasn't exactly surprised as he had a friend with a pet snake, but it had been his first time meeting a pig outside of a farm or zoo. "I kinda want to pet it," the magician found himself mumbling as he walked closer and closer to the pair of girls, intending to pass by them. Maybe she'll understand, most people do when I ask to pet their dog. As he got closer, he was able to will up the courage to ask the stranger, Kaya, "Do you mind if I pet your pig?" It came out somewhat hurried, but Jin couldn't really help that. After all, it was something he'd decided on at the last moment. Initially, he wasn't much of an animal person, but since he'd decided to try an adopt a pet, the boy had started attempting to get used to the animals he saw all over the place. |

Kaya turned to see a person with a hand full of groceries asking to pet Andre. She turned her eyes toward him with an inquiring look, which he responded by trotting up next to Jin and looking up at him while making his typical grunting noises. "Well, if he's OK with it, I don't mind... Oh wait, let me help you with those bags." As Kaya offered to take care of his oversized bags of groceries, Kat gave the boy a smile and a wink as she gestured to herself and answered as best as she could with what little she knew of the Japanese language. "I am name Kat. Nice... meeting with you." |

It went better than expected. Yes, I could've been less of a weirdo about asking to pet a pig, but I mean she isn't running away yelling 'creeper' or anything. Pluses. That, and he got to pet a pig. It was on the note of being able to pet an unusual pet that Jin thought, I wonder if Yumeko would let me pet her snake. She said he was pretty friendly... At the girl's offer to help with some of the bags, Jin was somewhat hesitant to start. He wasn't used to asking strangers for help, especially when it seemed like he might be imposing upon them. Maybe just this once, he'd let it slide. Jin relented, handing the girl a few of the smaller, lighter bags as he said," If you're absolutely sure you don't mind, then thanks!" It was as he was prepping himself to attempt to pet the pig that Jin was greeted by the girl with, from what Jin could tell, the gauntlet. Ah...huh, don't know how I managed to forget about her. She doesn't exactly blend in with the crowd. To an extent, he felt bad about initially ignoring the foreigner. After all, it was hard to get friendly with people if you occasionally ignored them. "Hello there, Kat. My name's Jin. It's a pleasure to meet you too, as well as you miss..." Jin felt a bit more awkward as he didn't know the other person's name, but was slightly relieved by that fact that he didn't necessarily need to to start. They were strangers, so it shouldn't be as awkward like it was when Jin forgot the names of his classmates. As Jin listened for the girl's name, the boy squatted down as he tried to politely get the pig's attention so that he could pet him. |

Kaya shrugged as she set the bags aside and answered with, "Well, it's not up to me. It's up to him." Andre grunted in joy as he trotted around Jin's legs, deciding that this person was in-fact a good person. Not being one to resist the charms of a cute animal, Kat knelt down next to Jin as she offered a hand for the pig. The non-clawed one, of course. The pig took a whiff of her only to immediately back off and try to hide behind Kaya's legs as he let out a panicked oink Well that was a bit of a kick to the face, thought Kat as she bit her lips in quiet frustration. Looking up at Kaya, she quipped in English, "Hey, I dunno about you, but your pig's kind of an asshole." |

Her statement made sense. From what research Jin had done while deciding upon a cat or a dog, most animals could judge people by certain scents as a sort of thread detector. Not long after Kaya spoke, the pig seemed to take well to Jin from what the boy understood. It was actually about the time that he reached out to pet the pig once it settled down that Kat crept down to their level as well. The pig made no time to stop for Jin's attempt to pet as he ran for cover behind Kaya. I....that's sad. Mr.Piggle ran off before I could pet him, he thought. Then the girl started speaking in a language that Jin had detected as English, and even then he was only roughly familiar with it because of the English classes offered at Taiyoutono. Of everything that she said, Jin could only make out: "Hey, I....you...your...an..." He was rusty to say the least, but he was curious about what the girl was saying. One thing that Jin did know was that Kat was definitely someone to be careful around. Especially so, if the pig ran off the way it did. His reaction to the girl, Kat, was a simple blank face. The boy had no clue what was going on now. "Maybe Kat-san scared your pig with sudden movements or something?" Jin said, not entirely sure that he believed what he was saying. All he knew was that he felt uneasy about something. |

Kat stared at her hand for a moment before taking a whiff of it, unsure if it was something she ate. Might be those Pork Cutlets. Kaya picked up Andre and dangled him in her arms like a sack about to collapse, curious as to why he reacted so strongly to a stranger. He was typically so friendly to everyone, even her mother in her bad days. She brought him up to Jin, hoping that at least he'll get another chance to properly pet the pig. She turned her head to Kat, answering in rough English, "Sorry. He is nice boy. Healthy." Kat answered back with a shrug and told her, "Meh, I've had worse experience with animals. Speaking of, hold still..." Taking out her phone, the girl repositioned herself to an angle where she could see the three of them on her camera. Sticking her tongue out and rolling her eyes backward, she took an impromptu group photo that she looked upon with a smile. " Hmm... Not bad. That pig adds character. Like dimples or a black eye from daddy. Erm, Arigato." Kat twirled her phone around, ignoring the fact that Andre was currently spasming in Kaya's arms from the flash. Complete with Kaya struggling to control her pig, it looked more like an elaborate dance from a stroke victim. |

The boy watched as the Kaya snagged up the pig like a small child might hold their toy. It was somewhat awkward to watch, as Jin wasn't sure if the posture was bothering the pig or not, but it was also a somewhat adorable sight. After watching Kaya gather the pig in her arms, Jin actually had the opportunity to pet the pig this time. Thus, he did so, going about petting the pig gently. He's so squishy. The boy had no idea what to go in expecting the pig to feel like, so he was pleasantly surprised. There was more conversation that followed in English, and again Jin could make out more of what they were saying. He wasn't used to speaking english, so some of the verbal prose was slowly, very slowly coming back to him despite how often they learned about it in school. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not studying hard enough, or if it's the native accent that's throwing me off, he thought as he furrowed his brow. Not long after Jin had finished petting the pig, for whom he had mentally changed his name to Mr.Squishly, a camera had gone off. A picture? It seemed like both a strange time and place to take a picture, especially for one with strangers. With that over, Jin simply watched as Mr.Squishly started squirming around without control in his owner's grasp. As this occurred, Jin felt more and more awkward as he was not really sure how to help. I don't know what to do, people don't like it when you pick up their animals without permission. At this moment, the boy felt useless. Jin had no clue what he really should've done, but he asked Kaya, "Is there a way that I can help with your pig?" |

As Andre squirmed around in her arms, Kaya forced out a grin towards the boy as she answered with, "Oh, this isn't the first time. He'll usually just tucker himself out. That usually-" *Crack* Kaya heard the all-too familiar sound of fist hitting flesh and noticed how Kat was shaking the hand without the gauntlet. Looking up, the foreigner responded with, "No need to thank me. Wait erm... I help you with pig." Looking down, she saw that Andre was now unconscious and sporting a prominent bruise over the eye. Well this is certainly made things more... interesting. As her eye began to twitch uncontrollably, she gently set the pig down to the ground as she contemplated her next action. |

He seemed relieved as the girl, Kaya, spoke about how the pig would just tire himself out. Well, that's good. It makes me feel less awkward about sitting around doing nothing. This train of thought was derailed the moment the gloved girl cracked the pig just above the eye. In almost every country, Jin was absolutely sure this was, to some degree, animal abuse at its finest. Despite his desire to speak up on this, all that came out was an awkward squeak. Even with the high pitched squeak, it was barely audible. Jin was just too quiet as a whole. I...uh, did that just happen? Did that just really happen?? Why would someone just deck a piglet in the face? That's just rude, and for the most part uncalled for. He wanted to do something about it. After all, the girl without the glove, Kaya, was friendly and did nothing wrong. She even offered to help Jin carry his groceries, despite him being a stranger. I...uh...first thing to do in a potential fight is try to deescalate the problem, but I don't think that is very likely at the moment. This girl next to me seems really attached and caring for her pig. Thoughts were racing through his head as the magician tried to figure out a solution to the problem at hand. He noted something in the distance, but it was close enough to grab if he absolutely needed it. The shape was long and slender with a slight curve towards the top. From what the boy could immediately make out, it was either a branch or a rusted pipe. Hopefully, he didn't need to use it, but it was definitely something that would be kept in the back of his mind. Jin walked up next to Kaya, "I don't know what you are about to do, but as long as it's within the legal confines of the law, I am absolutely happy to lend a hand. I can also bear witness in a case of self defense." If absolutely needed for whatever reason, he had some grasp of hand to hand combat. However his knowledge of it was extremely limited and would likely result in hurting both himself and whatever would come into his clutches. It was almost unneeded to say, but Jin's fight or flight response had been triggered, and his body was edging on the choice of the former. |
