Takes place immediately after Going Down

Yuki passed trough the fissure shortly after Akio did. The difference in both sights and just general atmosphere of the place was disorienting. After the relative darkness of the area they were in, it took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the flood of emerald light of this new area.

There was something about what he saw that left him very uneasy. He couldn't articulate exactly why, but the city felt very off to him. He took a few careful steps towards the edge of the sloped platform they were on and was met with a rather jarring sight.”It would appear we're rather high up.” The alignment of the horizon and the tall building's place on it already suggested that. But looking over and seeing it was a rather long way down confirmed it.

It probably would have been a rather bad time to discover that people in their group were bad with heights. At least they had a means of going back to the gloom and ever-mounting phantom pressure before if things got bad. The absence of both, and surroundings that followed a seemingly consistent and less skewed pattern suggested that they weren't in No Man's Land anymore.

And if that were the case, then that would also make sense if Shadows could also been lurking close by. He didn't relish a fight on such footing, but less so if their enemy got the drop on them. Perhaps he was just being too cautious, but better safe than sorry. ”Keep your eyes open, just in case.”

"Hmmm..." Gally mused as she took in the sights with the camera. "Welp! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!"

With that said, she looked around to see where she could walk, then started in that direction. This entire place was definitely something they haven't experienced before so it'd be good to get it all recorded. "Good thing I'm not afraid of heights!" Gally commented aloud to no one in particular. She was well trained in keeping her wits about her; one of the perks of having an ex-military person as her father. "Mmm.. Well are you guys coming or what?"

Might as well explore and see what's there! Gally thought to herself as she found a pathway. It was built into the pillar they were on, spiraling down the length of it. Taking her time to make it down, Gally pressed onward to check this new area out. If push comes to shove, she can always run back.

Well, this was interesting.

After Gally entered the crack on the wall, it didn't look long for everyone else to join her. Yuu had her partners right behind her, her hand holding her hat in place as slowly walked towards the other side. The strange emerald glow they perceived earlier turned out to be not from a small object emitting the light.

But rather, a city.

"It would appear that we found Emerald City."
Yuu commented, as they looked the skyline of the city. It was a rather strange discovery to make in the Ruins, considering how the location was underground. But then again, they came through the No Man's Land, a place that has little to no regards for spatial logic or anything, so this could either be another location of the NML, or a different place entirely.

And yet, the dense atmosphere they felt earlier was... gone. It almost felt like weight was taken out of her back, and now she could breathe normally. If this wasn't the NML anymore, then where were they?

She stared at the city in a contemplative manner, to the point that Gally's question caused her to snap out of it. "Right. Let's get going." She nodded, as she followed the older woman, keeping her scanning up in case any Shadow tried to ambush them. If this wasn't the NML, then she felt an enemy could very well be right around the corner.

Akio was honestly kind of surprised that the sight sprawling before their eyes in almost every direction hadn't gotten a stronger reaction from any of his fellow explorers - he himself had definitely be more than a little captivated for the past thirty seconds, his mind racing and reaching in every direction to find a reason why such a thing was even there to begin with.

Maybe there wasn't one.

He cleared his throat and looked away, bringing himself back to the state of rational observation and analysis he was familiar with like a pair of old, comfortable slippers. He sent a glance down - they would have quite a long ways to go until they reached the ground, though he was more apprehensive about the necessity to climb back up once they did.

He did feel a lot fresher than a few seconds before. Was that just an impression?

He followed behind the others, filming the pillar as they went down. It was easy to think they weren't in No Man's Land anymore, but he couldn't be certain - it wasn't as if one could make broad judgements about this place without risking the possibility of being wildly off the mark.

Yuki's primary concern wasn't the spectacle before them, or even trying to grapple with what it meant that there was evidently even more underneath the streets they tread upon every day than anyone could have ever guessed. His primary concerns were much more mundane and grounded than that. Since it was apparent they were exploring the place, top on the list was to avoid anyone falling to their deaths on the way down.

”Wait. We stay together, and watch your footing.”

He followed after Gally, who had no problems pushing on just to see what was out there. He gave the path in front of them due attention, even as it seemed to reliably thread around the pillar downwards, with the width and reasonable reliability roughly equal to a paved road. Still, as they went around, he was able to get a more full view of their surroundings.

If he had to use reckoning, he would have guessed the pillar they were moving down wasn't at the center of this place, The further down and around they progressed, the more rotations they did, and more apparent it was that one side of the city was closer to the wall of unworked stone on the side and another had more buildings going off in the distance towards the heart of the city.

Perhaps it was his imagination, but he also thought he saw motion occasionally. In the shadowed windows of buildings, or something between them. It wasn't always in the same place and the distances suggested random action if there was anything of that sort out there.

As they went along, something caught the eye of Yuu. The pillar itself had an eclectic design, but she though she saw a glimmer of a similar green crystal as the sort that was lighting their way. Just a single sliver, if that. But clearly there.

As they walked along, Gally made sure to capture everything of note with her camera. She also made sure to watch her footing as she saw how long a way down it was. Good thing she wasn't afraid of heights! Regardless, Gally seemed to be nonplussed about any danger they were in, but in reality, she was paying close attention to everything around her. While it wasn't oppressive like No Man's Land, she knew not to drop her guard.

Every so often, she'd catch a hint of movement which bothered her as she never caught sight of what it was she saw. "Hmm.. I don't think we're alone here." Gally spoke after a short while of walking in relative silence. "Stay sharp."

Hmph. Don't you think that goes without saying? Crazy Diamond spoke to her.

Aww come on, CD. Sometimes it needs to be said! Gally mentally thought back, cracking a smile.

Once they reached ground level of the construct they were on, Gally let out a soft whistle. "Quite the place here, close up!" She comments, then narrows her eyes. Something... something wasn't right. She couldn't place her finger on it, but something seemed off somehow. It wasn't the bizarre place, per se, just a feeling.

Despite her best efforts, her scanning came up with nothing immediate, all she could feel were presences with no clear location. Almost if they were all around them, although it could just be some alien atmosphere caused by this new area, there was no way to tell for sure right away, so all she could do was be on her guard.

As they descended however, her suspicious would come true, as she started nothing something strange in the buildings: Like shadows out of the corners of their eyes, there were silouettes moving around them, and every time she tried to focus on them, they'd disappear as quickly as they came. Gally already noted the team about them, and Yuu silently tried to find more, while carefully moving with the team.

The surprised wouldn't end there, as Yuu would take notice for an odd light once they reached the ground. It was rather similar to the one they saw a moment ago, and this one was a bit less intense, but it was there. Maybe it was an effect of it, or maybe it was yuu's natural inclination to investigate, but she felt the need to check out what it was. "... Is that the light from before?" She said, as she slowly took a step towards it, stepping out of the group formation, while checking if the ground is stable.

Truth be told, Akio wasn't remotely surprised that this place, contrary to the No Man's Land, would have been home to something. "Well, it's a city." he said in deadpan, smiling lightly to himself. "It doesn't seem too surprising that something would live in it." He wondered if what he was seeing would align with what the others were seeing, or if it was just a mental trick from this place, something to keep all of them on edge.

The light was there, alright, lighting the way - either it was to show them something, or to show them to something. Both options were possible, or perhaps both were true. He was already dreading the fact that they'd have to go back up eventually - sore legs would be on the menu for sure.

"We should keep in mind that we might have to go back through the No Man's Land after we're gone charting here." he said, preferring to err on the side of caution. "We don't want to collapse just before we reach the exit."

”You mean that?”

He had been paying attention, as keenly as he were able to. But the question of a light didn't go beyond the network of crystals that bathed the chamber in a dull verdant glow. He hadn't noticed any of those sort of rocks or strange minerals any closer than the dizzying heights of the ceiling, though.

When Yuu approached it, the crystal receded back into the wall. It left behind a piece of parchment that was tightly bound up, it tumbled end over end as it fell to the cracked concrete and fell to her feet.

"Huh." Gally commented as she stared at the parchment that was revealed when Yuu approached. Part of her itched to snatch up the parchment and read it, but that was something she withheld herself from doing that as it was an rpg impulse. Looking around, Gally took in the entire area with the camera she had, making sure the batteries were holding up.

Taking a few steps ahead, Gally smiled in a carefree sort of way as she looked back at the group. "Let's see what else we can find here!" She says before starting down one of the paths in order to check what else they could find in this unusual place. Gally made sure not to lose sight of the group and committed the way back to memory in case they got lost.

Still, this place was too interesting to leave unexplored! Hopefully if there's nothing dangerous here, they might make a breakthrough in their expedition! Already they've found out enough to give some good intel to bedlam, but maybe they'll find more? Only one way to find out!
