Name: Miyu Sasaki Gender: Female, despite first appearences Age: 24 Class: None Clubs/Occupation: Law Student/Part-Time Bartender Personality: Miyu is a laid back calm type of girl who manages to take life in strides. She's calm, collected, and friendly to everyone even if they aren't exactly in her good graces. Her ability to communicate through entire conversations in smarm are unparalleled, though often in good jest. That said, when doesn't particularly enjoy someone's company she enjoys making it clear through very back-handed and cleverly disguised versions of her regular humor. Her willingness to roll with the punches and penchant for offering people drinks make her and outgoing and receptive girl, though one that often doesn't want to talk about herself and more often others. She also retains a powerful sense of humor, even willing to crack jokes about things like her boyish looks despite her self-consciousness about how often people mistake her as a very pretty man. Despite her relaxed demeanor, she has a strong sense of justice and refuses to sit by when things that violate what she thinks is right. She often tends to try to mediate such things and hope to dissuade any further conflict, not being an overly confrontational girl. Her extensive knowledge of the law and general wit make her a pretty savvy negotiator in that regard, though she'll only say such things herself as a joke instead of as an actual boast due to her desire to not bring to much attention to herself. Miyu's interests include crime dramas, hockey, and the general idea of organized crime. She finds a homely vibe with the romanticized ideal of police officers while and simply can't shake off enjoying the brutal and enjoyable simplicity of hockey. As for organized crime, she has a personal interest in understanding the minds and reasoning behind criminals. This ties in with the romanticized idea of a cop she enjoys so much, as she loves nothing more than the image of a hard-boiled officer of justice taking on a dedicated and honorable Yakuza. It is admittedly largely due to the escapism factor, knowing how cruel and unlike both sides of the law really are. Her studies into criminal mind led into her developing a hobby for collecting blades, since it's the next best thing behind guns and that's not exactly allowed in Japan. However, a large amount of this image Miyu presents herself with is forced. In reality, Miyu never felt like she quite recovered from the loss of her parents, always disturbed by the idea that innocent and even great people can die so easily for the pettiest of crimes. It's left her with a bitter, cynical worldview that she desperately can't shake as hard as she tries. A gnawing self-doubt always gripes at her guts as she feels like there's nothing she can do to change the world and that in the end it feels like her life is a pointless pursuit of empty dreams that she follows simply because it's all she can do. Her reasons for walking the path of a defense attorney were because she felt it would be necessary to do whatever it takes to put the people a danger to others away. While she'd argue that gaining the trust of culprits and seeing if they were indeed responsible solely to throw their case if they were, or using any means necessary to prove the innocent they are just that, it's unwittingly more selfish than that. More than anything, Miyu wants to feel like she can make a difference and have some power or control to change her world as well as others. In her mind as long as it's for the greater good, the ends can justify the means. All this coincides into a very poor self-image of herself. Miyu carries this devil-may-care persona for herself to hide the fact how disillusioned with the world she is. Her inability to get attached to others and now lack of any emotion when she loses someone due to any circumstances has left her in an almost depressive state. She overall despises talking about herself, not wanting to inconvenience others with this baggage she can't shake. It has left her almost feeling like her life for the past ten years has been more or less a non-interesting blur without much of an memorable events or even people beyond her family she can recall as real friends. So she attempts to squeeze what little joy and purpose out of her personal and professional life solely so she can stop feeling like a husk of a person. History: Miyu was born in Japan in Fukuoka, her father having been a notable police detective and her mother being a teacher that came abroad to teach English. While she lived in Fukuoka for a small amount of time, eventually Miyu's mother had to return to her hometown of Montreal, Quebec and as a result her father retired from the force and the family moved to Canada. Miyu managed to adapt to life in the Western world easier than her father, eventually learning both English and Quebec French. They all lived a relatively peaceful life, with Miyu eventually wanting to become a prosecutor after being told many tales from her father about his work and his best friend who worked close with him as a prosecutor. Enamored with the idea of catching bad guys and being a hero, Miyu developed her distinct style of fashion at around the age of ten, insistent on wearing 'cool suits and trench coats and stuff' so she can play the role in her head. A couple of years later, Miyu's parents lives would end in an unforeseen car crash. Her father dying from the crash and mother during complications at the hospital, the individual responsible was never found, apparently having abandoned the reportedly stolen vehicle that was responsible for the late night incident on the highway. Orphaned, Miyu relocated back to Japan under her father's grandparents in Fukuoka. Coming back to Japan after living in the West for most of her childhood made Miyu feel very out of place, her heritage also serving as a basis of ridicule from some of her teenage peers. It's around high school when Miyu developed the attitude she carries today of being a generally fun-loving and agreeable person, and while it made her somewhat popular among her classmates it led to most friendships she garnered to feel lacking of any foundation or genuine nature to them. By the time she graduated and began to carve her path to becoming a lawyer, she couldn't even remember most of her classmates names. With her grades laser focused towards the goal of law school and her grandparents generous backing, Miyu managed to move to Nagashima. The coastal island being relatively close to the law school she settled on and having the added bonus of not only being cheaper, but known for its problems with crime. She settled in a small apartment in the city and kept herself occupied with long bouts of studying for her bar exam and drinking in downtown Nagashima. Eventually deciding not to want to rely on her retired grandparents, she spent some time getting a servers license to begin work as a bartender. Now all she does is hope that she can reach her goal of becoming a defense attorney soon, having long decided that she'd be able to have more control over understanding who really deserved to be called innocent or guilty from that position. Appearance: [X] [X] [X] [X] Images respectively made by my IRL friend Char (with some shitty edits by me in an attempt to color monochrome), sketch by a humble 4Chan drawfag, color by a separate humble drawfag, and my internet pal Rai. Miyu is an abnormal case, who despite having Japanese heritage in her mix kept her blonde hair and stands at a notable six feet tall, making her notably take off her mother's side of the family. Her short hair, borderline flat chest, height, and slightly deeper than normal voice makes her easily mistakable as a very pretty man oftentimes even without the clothes she wears factoring in. Despite this, her lithe figure out of her more covering clothes are clearly indicative of the female form. Her amber eyes and whiter skin tone are also incredibly abnormal for the Japanese, leading people to call into question if her father was even Japanese at all. Miyu tends to wear suits when she goes out for either business or pleasure, her most famous one being her jet black white pinstripe suit with matching pinless slacks and loafers. Oftentimes however she dresses down to just her undershirt, often either black or white with a complimenting tie depending. Suffice to say, the suit doesn't help people identify her as female very often. Current Weapon/Combat Skill: Miyu has no formal combat training, but tends to swing around some of the blades and swords from her collection when no one's looking. She is especially fond of her only katana made by an actual blacksmith instead of a factory, but is actually deathly afraid to touch it since it actually could hurt someone. Like herself. Mask: A black blindfold that apparently she can still see out of. (Think the visors YoHRa wear in Automata.) Persona: Big Skelly Taken from devientart user Plagathon because I never found anyone willing to draw a bigass skeleton in a suit. ~Name: Gashadokuro ~Arcana: Moon ~Drain: ~Weak: Light, Fire ~Null: Dark ~Reflect: ~Resist: ~Skills: Eiha, Poisma, Rakunda It's worth noting Gashadokuro towers over most personas except the equally egregiously big, it's size being best described as 'bigger than you.'
