Kaji nodded. "Of course. May I?" He borrowed Rika's student ID once she pulled it out, bringing it up to his face in order to inspect it. There had definitely been people coming in who were either graduates with old IDs or random, strange adults with faked IDs, both hoping to procure free coffee. Kaji didn't believe Rika was one of these people, but he couldn't let up on due procedure for anyone. He adjusted his glasses, blinking. His eyes were a bit blurry, and he needed to look at the student ID for an additional moment to ascertain its authenticity. As he did so, he noticed something about the ID he wouldn't have noticed otherwise. "... Huh," he remarked, "they changed the design slightly this year." To most people, this would not at all appear to be the case - the student IDs this year looked almost exactly the same as the IDs last year. But Kaji noticed: the text size was slightly larger, the centering was different, the shades of color had changed a bit... Small, barely identifiable changes that made very little aesthetic difference. |

Rika looked at Kaji inspecting her student ID. It's understandable for him to see whether it was authentic or not, considering that some how had graduated from Taiyoutono with old IDs as well as those who used faked IDs might want to take advantage of this. Still, from what the model student could see, this cafe seemed to give special treatment for Taiyoutono students. "Excuse me, but were you a student of Taiyoutono?" Rika asked, curious about this particular barista. Usually, Rika wasn't one to mingle with others, but it was different today. She had a gut feeling that this Kaji person used to be a student of Taiyoutono before graduating. She also had heard of his name when she was still a first-year student, but she couldn't quite recall about it. |

No, wait, did a new design mean this ID was faked? Kaji blinked, looking a bit more closely. No, the text was crisp and the plastic didn't feel cheap. They had likely just made some small cosmetic changes. At the very least, he didn't have any reason to suspect Rika. He pulled the ID away from his face, handing it back to Rika. He paused when she asked him a question. "Um," he started. "Well, yes, I was. I graduated last year, however. Why do you ask?" He seemed to peer a bit closer at Rika's face. "Do... I know you from somewhere?" |

"I see..." Rika mused. So, Kaji really was a student of Taiyoutono who graduated last year. "Oh, it's nothing. I just thought I had heard your name before, when I was still a first-year student," Rika said. Rika spent almost half a year absent from school due to an illness, though she had recovered. So, she somehow kind of missed all the fads that had been going on last year. She heard from her peer that last year was a weird year, but she didn't feel like asking them about it because it actually had nothing to do with her. "So, after graduating, you decided to work here?" Rika asked, curious. |

Kaji looked at Rika curiously, then said, "I'm Kaji Okawa. I was a member of the disciplinary committee last year. I also took some time off from school around the end of the year. I don't know if there were any rumors about me, but that may be where you heard my name." Hopefully, this didn't lead to Rika remembering some horrible rumors about Kaji killing a person halfway through the year or breaking up with his girlfriend over a text message. Especially that second one, since it was true. He nodded in response to her question. "Yeah. I still live in town, and this was close by. I attend Rokujima right now." He hesitated, then asked, "Can I ask why you want to know?" |

Truth be told, Rika wasn't all that interested in rumors, so she never heard those horrible rumors about Kaji killing someone, and even if she did, she paid it no mind. "I see..." she mused. "So, this is your part-time job, then?" When Kaji asked her about why she wanted to know about all this, she answered, "No particular reason, honestly. I heard your name a few times before, so I might as well ask you about it," then she looked at Kaji, furrowing her brow. "Or is it something that I shouldn't know?" Rika asked. She did not see any reason why he needed to hide such a thing from her in the first place. She asked him question, and he answered her question. It's just that simple. |

Kaji nodded simply. "Yes." He didn't understand the purpose of all these questions, but he was currently on the job, and if he just stopped answering, like he wanted to, then it would reflect poorly on him. Rika pressed a little on things that she 'shouldn't' know, and Kaji hesitated again. She was certainly right - there really was no reason to tell this girl what had happened. She probably wasn't a persona user, for one, and it was also too long of a story to give out right now. Not to mention, Kaji really didn't feel the need to explain himself. So, he just shook his head. "Nothing you need to be concerned about. Would you like me to get you your refill, Ishikawa-san?" Kaji asked, trying to change the topic. He used Rika's last name unconsciously, having seen it on her ID. |

Now that's the sign telling her to drop the subject altogether. And it's not like Rika particularly cared about it, and it was just an idle curiosity and nothing else. "Very well. And yes please..." she said, nodding. She was looking forward to another cup of Cococoffee. She could tell that she would soon become a regular in this place, and since this cafe served free refills for Taiyoutono students, this place would be a nice place to unwind after enduring half a day of school-life shenanigans. And so, Rika would wait for Kaji to serve her another cup of coffee. For the time being, she had nothing else to ask him, but soon, she might come up with a question to ask him, but for now, she would just leave him be and let him do his job. |
