Those who knew him would claim that Kaji Okawa was an inhuman monster who subsisted solely off of coffee and his own righteousness. Thankfully, Kaji didn't actually know that many people. Akiko had moved away some time ago. The two still exchanged emails once in a while, but Kaji still felt the absence of his best friend strongly. Whatever semblance of a friendship he had maintained with Kaede was now gone, and the majority of his other acquaintances were just that - acquaintances: people he didn't know well enough to even call 'friend.' All of this was both a blessing and a curse for Kaji. Not many people remained who knew that Kaji even existed, but they also didn't know what he had done and what he had tried to do. After his quiet return to the Bedlam community, not much had changed. For the moment, he was focused mainly on returning to his former strength. The world of Persona Users seemed as tumultuous as ever, so he needed to be as ready as possible. He'd helped a few new persona users out of the ruins in the process, so he hadn't been completely unproductive. Of course, with the combination of ruins expeditions, college classes, and his job at Coco'coffee, even Kaji's lack of a social life couldn't save him from exhaustion. He was standing behind the counter of the popular cafe, leaning forward on his elbows and yawning into his palm. It was getting to be late in the afternoon - school had gotten out a few hours prior, so the initial rush was slowing down. The only people left were couples on dates and the studious students who still had their nose buried in a book. Kaji was a relatively popular server at Coco'coffee. He'd only graduated last year, so some students still knew him, and his good lucks and scowly nature only added to his appeal, according to some of his coworkers. He never paid any of his admirers any mind, though, as that would be wildly inappropriate. He pulled his hand from his face, glancing around the cafe to try and find anyone who looked like they were in need of serving. |

Among her peers, Rika Ishikawa was a stickler to the rules who showed no compromise to anyone, the slayer of anything fun and the absolute killjoy. One might even argue that Rika's sole diet was her own righteousness, but Rika paid such thing no mind, finding it to be trivial and required none of her attention. Even so, Rika was also a naturally curious person. When she overheard from other students (she just happened to walk past them, by the way, not intentionally overhearing them, thank you very much) about one popular cafe that served delicious coffee, Rika became curious. While she might be an absolute killjoy who would murder the fun in anything and everything, she found no harm in enjoying a cup of joe. So, after school, instead of heading back home, Rika went to where this cafe was located. The care was named Coco'coffee, for some reason. She would stand in front of the cafe for a while before finally entering. Once she entered, the scent of coffee invaded her sense of smell. Typical for any self-respecting cafe that served coffee. She spotted someone who seemed to be the server in the cafe. The only natural thing to do here was to head over to the server. "Good day," she spoke to the server with a calm, even voice. Her face radiated neither friendliness nor hostility, just stone-cold expressionlessness. "I wish to have a cup of coffee. Do you have any recommendation?" Rika asked. She didn't mean to sound like she was giving order, but one might come up with such assumption. Edited by Prince Arjuna, Jun 23 2017, 02:18 AM.

Nope, no one. Kaji went back into another yawn, allowing himself to close his eyes for just a moment. Immediately, his eyes opened up wide and his posture snapped to attention when he heard the sound of someone coming through the front door. Right. This was work. He didn't have time to take a nap, no matter how appealing it sounded. He turned to see a sour-faced blue-haired girl walk inside. He stepped out from behind the counter, meeting Rika halfway. "Hello," he greeted in return, being polite. She asked for a recommendation like she was a robot asking for maintenance, but Kaji didn't flinch or shy away. He'd looked in a mirror before, after all. "Most people come here for the Cococoffee," Kaji replied. "It's the house blend. It has a bit of a kick to it. If you're looking for something sweeter, the Vanilla Latte is popular." |

Rika listened to the server's recommendation. She didn't have any particular preference, so she would take what had been recommended to her. "I'll take Cococoffee, then..." she decided not too long after hearing the recommendation from the server, whose scowly feature seemed to make him stand out among those Rika had seen working as coffee servers or barista. She might be a complete killjoy who would suck out any fun in anything within her vicinity, but she was still a normal sixteen-year-old girl who could tell whether the members of the opposite sex were attractive or not, and in case of this particular server, she was certain that he was among those she considered to be attractive. But that's hardly a matter she'd like to mull over right now, as she would be having a cup of coffee that she would drink soon. Edited by Prince Arjuna, Jun 23 2017, 07:44 PM.

It occurred to Kaji that with Rika's immediate jump into suggestions, he hadn't had time to go through the usual introduction spiel that came with being a server. He hid a frown, contemplating how to fix the issue appropriately as Rika mulled over her choice. It'd be weird to just say it now. Maybe when she got to the table? Though, where was she going to sit to begin - oh, right, that was his job. Kaji blinked. Wow, he was tired. He tried very hard to not let his exhaustion show on his face, bowing his head. "Coming right up. Let me take you to your seat. Do you have a preference for a booth or a table?" Was the grammar on that last sentence correct? Kaji wasn't sure. Rika may notice that the seats in front of the counter were empty, and presumably an option for patrons. |

Rika took a second to process the server's question before she answered him, "I prefer the booth." And so, she would follow the server's instruction, heading over to one of the seats of the counter, and the seats seemed to be empty. Taking her seat, Rika would smooth down her skirt and make sure to sit with a proper posture. Just because she was about to enjoy a cup of caffeinated elixir of life didn't mean she could do so improperly. She was actually looking forward for the coffee, and she would wait for it while stealing a glance or two at the working barista. Now that she managed to take closer look at his face, she somehow could tell that he's tired. Overworked, perhaps? Still, she kept it to herself. As long as it did not affect the quality of his work, she couldn't find any reason to complain. |

Kaji bowed his head. "Of course. Right this way, please." He led Rika to a booth that was relatively close to the counter. As she sat down, Kaji took the opportunity to introduce himself. "My name is Kaji Okawa. I'll be your server tonight. I'll be back shortly with your order." He bowed again, and went off behind the counter. The process didn't take very long - given how often customers ordered the cafe's signature drink, they had cups of it flowing out of the machines practically at all times. Kaji returned to Rika's booth and placed a simple, white mug in front of her. Wisps of steam rose from the top, and there was a subtle complexity in the hues of brown swirling atop the coffee's surface. "Your Cococoffee," Kaji said simply. Upon tasting it, Rika would find that the coffee was only a touch sweet, with a dash of spice that popped on her tongue. The added flavors were unidentifiable - similar to cinnamon, but not quite as potent or heady. The flavor of the coffee still rang true, not overwhelmed at all. |

Rika sat on her seat, waiting for her drink. She nodded when the server introduced himself as Kaji Okawa. She vaguely heard that name before when she was still a first-year student at Taiyoutono. Was this Kaji person used to be a student of Taiyoutono? If he was, he probably had graduated, thus explaining why he worked here in this cafe in the first place. Rika's wait for the coffee didn't take long. She believed it's either Kaji's already used to the process of making coffee or it's sloppily brewed. She would be the judge to that as the cup of coffee was placed right in front of her. Thanking Kaji, she took the cup, savoring the scent of coffee wafting from the caffeinated drink before giving it a tentative sip. "Hmm," Rika wasn't quite a connoisseur of coffee, but even she could tell the distinct taste of this particular beverage. It wasn't as sweet as most blends she's used to taste before, but she wouldn't be adverse to having a second cup of it. "Quite a curious flavor, though I wouldn't mind having another cup of it..." she commented before she continued drinking the coffee, finding it palatable for someone like her. |

Kaji wasn't particularly surprised by Rika's response - a lot of first-time customers had a similar reaction to the cafe's signature drink. It wasn't exactly the kind of flavor that one would expect from a cafe frequented by high schoolers. The first time he'd come, he'd actually just ordered something else, expecting the drink to be overly saccharine. He'd been pleasantly surprised the first time he'd tried it to find it palatable to his tastes. Of course, they weren't here to discuss his tastes. He bowed his head. "Of course. If you happen to be a Taiyoutono student, you are given free refills. I would just need to see your student ID." |

Free refills for Taiyoutono students? Well, that sure was a pleasant thing to hear for Rika. "Ah, I see..." she allowed herself to smile before she drank the rest of the coffee. There's no wonder the students of Taiyoutono liked it here. Not only that this cafe served good coffee, it also offered the students of Taiyoutono High School free refills. "I suppose I'd love to have another cup of Cococoffee, then," Rika said, her expression indicated that she was pleased with the quality of the service provided so far. She dug into her school bag and took out her student ID. "And here's my student ID," she said, holding out the ID to Kaji so that she could get cup of Cococoffee for free. It's unthinkable to not take advantage of this, and since the coffee was delicious, it's only natural for her to want another cup of it. |
