Hanako was on her way out. Other than offering the basest of courtesies, whatever their business was didn't involve her. She had her own things to deal with, so lingering was just stupid. She was five steps gone before the foreigner was snapping and whistling. And three more before she realized that was an attempt to get her attention.

She stopped, and turned sharply on her heels. She wasn't in a very good mood before, but someone trying to get her attention the same way they would have a dog did little to actually improve that disposition. Shari seemed absolutely panicked by the sudden high-pitched sound. But you handled complicated situations by breaking them into one simple problem to be solved at a time.

”If you ever snap at me like that again, I will break your goddamned fingers.” Hanako's problem-solving and inter-personal skills are not what they once were though. There wasn't any dramatic over-emphasis on any of it, she didn't raise her voice beyond what needed to be heard. No hissing, no narrowing of eyes or mugging. She declared it in a simple, conversational voice. Clear as day except for her accent. If one event happened, the other was sure to follow and that was that.

'Wow. That took a turn. Just um hold on and think this though. This is not a good idea…'

Her gray eyes darted to Shari, and she considered switching to her mother tongue but paused. The gesture was probably caused as much by ignorance of Japanese as it was by her sense of arrogance that she needed beated out of her with a tire iron. ”Don't whistle like that. It doesn't mix well with Shari, apparently.”

She wasn't going anywhere. She was preparing to get into a knock-down, drag-out bloody fight with a total stranger in the mall over the slightest provocation, but you know at least she wasn't going anywhere.

Kat couldn't help but smile as the girl came up to threaten her. She's had worse, but everything was funnier when it's yelled in a Japanese accent. Maybe an Indian accent was funnier, but only if it was a guy, otherwise it's just kinda sexy.

Still, nothing really caught her until she heard about Shari. Seeing the girl scramble to pick up her sketchbook, Kat quickly muttered out "Aw shit, sorry about that" as she rushed over to pick the book up...

And read through it herself.

Flipping through the pages, she couldn't help but find a bunch of drawings of weird bug people or weird animal people. One of THOSE artists huh. Still, as far as online art goes, it's not horrible.
"You sicken and intrigue me, Swiss Miss."

Shari quickly snapped the book back with her good arm, answering back by gesturing at herself and answering "Norwegian."

"Got it. Anyways, you get to call me Kat. If it means anything, that's how we do things where I come from."

The girl quickly stuck her free out to Hanako, in hopes of patching things up.

Isoroku almost panicked when Hanako threatened Kat over being called with the whistle and blanched when she saw Kat's nonchalance upon being threatened like that. These weren't what normal people would do in public. Luckily, Kat's attention was diverted to Shari. She ignored the two of them at the moment as she turned to look at Hanako. Something was definitely wrong with her, she knew that. Sure, she herself would also find hearing such noise to be annoying, but such a thing wouldn't warrant a threat.

"Hanako, is something wrong? Are you alright?" Isoroku asked, concerned, yet cautious. She could tell how bad Hanako's mood was, and there's a chance that she might snap at her instead.

She saw Kat trying to mend things by offering Hanako her free hand. This person definitely couldn't read the current mood and atmosphere, could she? Looking at Hanako, Isoroku told her, "You should probably head home, Hanako." It might backfire on her instead, but at least it's worth a try.

”We are not where you are from.” She said, with strained serenity. ”Do that to the wrong person and you're liable to get hurt real bad.” She watched as she just non-nonchalantly invaded Shari's privacy like that, and then when this 'Kat' offered Hanako her hand for something, she just stared down at it for a moment but made no move to reach for it or reciprocate the greeting gesture. Instead she glanced to her side and spoke to Isoroku.

“I don't really like it here. I'm just going to get a thing I need and go home anyways.” This conversation wasn't really something she needed. As addled and surly as she was, she still wasn't going to jump down someone's throat without provocation. So, she supposed that meant for the moment, she was stuck there, huh?

Reluctantly, she consented to be a party to whatever Kat, Isoroku and Shari were conversing about before they happened to cross paths with her. ”So anyways, you know Shari?”

Taking back her hand after it was blatantly ignored, Kat decided that maybe it was time for a different approach. Seems like she simply wasn't receptive to her typical methods. Also, her threats could use some work.

But the girl turned back and talk to her about Shari, who she could see was giving her the stinkeye for taking a look at her sketches. Kat shot the girl a shrug as she answered,
"Well, I saw her staring off into space and wanted to see if she knew English. Hopefully get some hints on this guy I'm looking for."

Taking out her phone, she flipped through the photos stored in her gallery, most of which were selfies of her in a purple eyemask taken alongside various bloodied and pulverized faces of different individuals. Each face sported at least one large diagonal gash, including one with a bloodied eye.

She should really learn how to organize these better.
"Oh erm, these were part of some convention. I do some cosplay gigs here and there. Hell, that's one thing we have in common."

She quickly gave Isoroku a quick wink, as if there was some secret the two shared. It was up to her to see if she was receptive to it all.

"Why are they all bloody? And why does it all look fresh?"

"Zombie cosplayers with a very talented make-up artist."

After a few more seconds of scrolling, she stopped on a picture of her and a boy who should be familiar to Hanako, with the only difference being slightly longer hair.
"He's a... Friend of mine. Wanted to settle some things."

"No, I don't know her. I just stumble upon her accidentally when I heard them talking in English," Isoroku admitted to Hanako. Then, both Kat and Shari began talking about make-up and cosplayers. As she listened to them, she recalled the way Kat introduced herself. Somehow, the way she phrased it sounded familiar. 'You get to call me X.' She had heard of that phrase before, and thanks to her photographic memory, there's no way she's going to forget that anytime soon.

Then Kat showed them a picture of her and a boy whom she recognized so much, and she let out an 'ah', as if finally connecting the dots. No wonder that phrase sounded familiar.

"Go figure..."

Yeah, she knew who she was talking about. The writing was on the wall, and while Americans were generally arrogant shits, there was only one other from that country that gave her the powerful compulsion to stab them in the gut, give the knife a couple of nice, strong twists and then leave it there.

Which was kind of bad, as that one was a friend. At least nominally so. ”The fuck is 'we?' I assume you're suddenly speaking French 'cause otherwise that's a pretty big assumption to make.” Hanako in fact cosplayed quite a bit herself in the past. But Kat's caviler ignorant attitude that painted an entire nation with the broadest of strokes irritated her.

As for the pictures themselves. From the looks of it, Kat was a piece of shit vigilante. They had an infestation of those on theo ther side of the Pacific, too, huh? The number of those sorts of people who weren't human garbage in Hanako's opinion could have been counted on one hand with three fingers to spare.

As a shock to no one, she was apparently looking for Harkens. She wasn't exactly surprised to be staring down at a picture of his beady little eyes and a smirk that just made you want to remove his lower jaw. Her expression remained impassive.”I think I'd remember seeing someone like that before.” Yeah, this was gonna be annoying down the line, wasn't it? She glanced up and looked Kat in the eyes. ”What about it?”

Kat shot a confused look at Hanako, who seemed to have been been particularly irked by what she said. Note to self: Clarify next time.

Judging by the reactions of the two, it seems that they are indeed familiar with her old friend Stan. Well that was convenient. Granted, it also seems like he didn't exactly leave any fond memories of them. Kat turned to Shari to see that she seems to be the one exception to the group, simply staring at the picture with a curiosity while quietly mumbling to herself in what she's assuming is Norwegian.

Pocketing her phone, she grunted in frustration as she pinched her nose with her free hand and drummed the sides of her pants with her clawed one. Whatever the hell he did, guess it was up to her to try and fix it.
"Aw hell... Look, I'm here to check up on him, and judging from the stinkeye both of you are wearing I'm guessing I'm not going to like the answer."

What to do, what to do...

She looked down at the gauntlet of hers. She always made a point of keeping the Talons on partly as a precaution and partly out of habit. She was hoping that she didn't actually have to use it here... Or at least, she hoped that she didn't have to use it on the little bastard.

Stretching out her fingers, her smile became far more forced as she asked the two,
"Look, if you want I can... Have a talk with him. I... I hoped that it didn't come to this... Kinda my fault in a way..."

Isoroku blinked as she looked at Kat. She had no idea what to think of this situation, and she glanced at Hanako, whose mood seemed to have worsened the moment she saw the picture of Harkens in Kat's phone. She feared that something bad might happen soon, and she'd rather not have it happen in the middle of a crowded shopping complex. Especially since Kat seemed to pull out some kind of weapon.

"Umm... w-well, it's not like I know him personally," Isoroku said. "He just showed up randomly and... umm... and I think that's it?" Isoroku admitted. She didn't know about that one particular boy besides his name and his peculiar demeanor.

Then, she looked at Hanako, hoping that she wouldn't say something too confrontational that might spell trouble to everyone involved here. And she'd rather not have anyone here, particularly Shari, to be involved in any kind of troublesome situation.

Oh, she was threatening her after all that? Yeah, that was it. This wasn't ending until one of them was bleeding out on the tacky-mall floor. She didn't really give a damn about Kat's relationship to Harkens anymore, now that it reached this point one of them had to go.

”Bitch, you just stepped into the wrong city to pull that shit.” Hanako made it a point to be well-armed whenever she dared to leave the house. As soon as she noted the metal claw and gathered the yankee's intention to get the information she wanted out of them by force, she stepped between her and Shari and drew and flipped open her own blade. She didn't give a fuck, they could call security. They could call the police, it would have been settled long before anyone would have intervened. She just needed a heartbeat's length opening to hack though her throat.

”If you need to know that badly, come on, cut it out of me.”
