Today was a day like many others, thought Shari as she sat upon a bench and observed the crowds. As much as she generally avoided getting into them, she does occasionally line to frequent places with others for the sake of having new things to draw. Typically she finds dull people who remind her more of grazing oxen, but occasionally she'll find the occasional one-eyed gator amongst the others. Shame that she hast found any yet... "Hey, you there. Blondie." Shari turned her head to face a young woman that if she had to guess was likely an American due to her use of English as well as her smelling of sweat and a hint of processed cheese. She leaned against the right side of the bench as she nonchalantly picked her teeth with the tip of a metal gauntlet she wore around her right hand. The girl had the complexion of a well-lacquered wooden desk and was wearing a purple shirt and pants. "You erm, speak English? Nod once for yes." Shari complied with a quick nod. Of course she did. She spent much of her time browsing online forums, following Japanese and American artists on social media and arguing the nuances of weather or not mantises were sexier than moths with other teenagers girls from across the sea. Sighing a breath of relief, the girl answered "Ah good. Anyways, you remind me of someone, but with one more arm. Those shades of yours makes you look kinda like a Pirate Hipster." The girl got up and walked over, now drumming the tips of her gauntlet upon the sides of her pants. Sticking her free hand out, she greeted herself with, "You get to call me Kat. You?" "... Shari?" "European, hmm? I could work with that..." Edited by Vect, Jul 1 2017, 10:30 AM.

Isoroku's schedule had been quite tight these days; going to school, photoshoots after school and studying after dark, with ruins patrol occasionally added in her timetable. Even so, she would try to get herself some free time to hang out with her friends and colleagues, as well as for herself in case if those people were busy. Now that she had nothing scheduled ahead of time, the part-time photo model decided to go to Tanjiro Shopping Center to do a little sightseeing. Also, if she ended up finding something that could grab her fancy, she might end up buying them, and might end up getting herself scolded by her aunt again for overspending her hard-earned money. Isoroku couldn't help but smile as she imagined what her aunt might say to lecture her this time. She had been under her care after the death of her parents, and while there were circumstances that forced them to be separated for a time, Isoroku was sure that her relationship with her aunt was as strong as ever. While she was still in the dark about the current event regarding Persona-users as well as the ruins underneath the town, her aunt had been an endless source of support, and she even supported her decision to become a photo model and was proud of her. Unless if fate decided to play a prank on her by getting that golden butterfly abducting her aunt into that monster-infested ruins underneath Nagashima, she was content with keeping her in the dark about the whole thing. Hearing someone speaking in English broke her out of her stupor. While the number of foreigners in Nagashima was quite mind-boggling, she rarely heard people talking in English around here. Fortunately, Isoroku herself was quite fluent in this language, and while her accent was glaringly noticeable, she was certain that she could talk in English just fine. It seemed there were two women, with one of them sitting on a bench, and curiously, she only had one arm. Apparently, the one with one arm was an artist, based on what tidbits she could hear from what the other woman said. Curious, Isoroku decided to approach them and look at what the one on the bench had. Realizing that she might have gotten herself barging in uninvited, she spoke to both women apologetically in English. "Ah, I am sorry. I didn't mean to intrude. I was just curious..." nailed it, Isoroku thought. Admittedly, English was one of her weaker subjects at school if compared to her other subjects which she naturally excelled in. While she was good with communicative English, the more nuanced parts in the language often eluded her. |

Shari slowly turned her head up at the stranger who cut her way into the conversation. Granted, it was somewhat one-sided but it was still technically a conversation by most standards. Adjusting her shades, she decided to answer back in English in a somewhat harsh tone, "Curious about what? We just started talking-" Kat quickly interjected, sensing some hostility in Shari's tone. It helps to make friends here, especially ones who speak English. "Whoa whoa whoa, hey... Easy there. Look, we just met. Anyways, how are things?" She extended her free hand out to Isoroku along with a greeting, "You get to call me Kat. How are things?" |

Hearing one of them rebuking her, Isoroku immediately apologized in her native language. "Oh, g-gomen! Umm... I mean, I'm sorry! I-it's just... it's rare to hear people talking in English here," Isoroku clarified, not wanting to be seen by them as a bother. Thankfully, one of them looked like a very friendly one. When the one who introduced herself as Kat extended out a free hand, Isoroku gratefully took it, shaking her hand. "Oh, I'm Isoroku Mayoi. Pleased to meet you, Miss Kat," she said politely. If both Shari and Kat were up to date with the current trend and vogue in Nagashima, they might recognize Isoroku as a particularly popular photo model whose pictures had been displayed all around the town. |

It seemed that every time she visited Tanjiro, she just learned to hate the place just a little more. Too bright, too loud, too many people she didn't know, hard to defend. Fuck Tanjiro-kun in particular. She hated the place, absolutely hated it. The fact that it had the few specialty shops in town she'd brave all of the above just caused her resentment to grow more and more. She couldn't put down when she'd started feeling that way. No doubt the attacks were a big part of it. Nothing to ruin your opinion of people in general than total strangers trying to murder you a couple of times on bullshit pretenses, after all. She kept her head down and was determined to avoid eye contact. She wore jeans, a slate colored t-shirt, a hooded green jacket and some Chelsea boots she'd found somewhere in Machi's mansion that happened to fit her. She had the hood pulled down low and her hands in the puffy green garment’s pockets. She didn't seem to care that it was finally starting to get too warm for a bulky sort of outfit. The more layers between her and other people the better, after all. Perhaps she would have just scampered to do what she came for, bypassed the person in the Tanjiro-kun outfit by a mile if at all possible and hurried the hell back home. But she passed by people having a conversation in English and it caught her attention. She paused and looked over her shoulders and she saw Shari. Fair, hair. Shades, one hand, European. Shrill and offputting demeanor (could looks alone be 'shrill?' She needed to look that up later…) Well, she was still at least a familiar face. She was blood kin to someone who meant a lot to Hanako, so the least she could have done was stop by and say hello, right? ”Shari-chan! Nice to see you!” Isoroku was right there too, on closer look, but one thing at a time. Was it really nice to see anyone in a wretched place like that mall? Maybe if they were promising to take you out of it, or something. But she didn't have to contextualize it, it was just something you said. Right, the stranger, probably American, and the model. She had definitely felt a strong sense of drift from Isoroku in addition to her general feelings of alienation in general. ”Hi again, Isoroku.” Again, she just wanted to go fuck off and go home already. |

Kat gave the girl's had a firm shake. Despite her outwardly gentle appearance, she couldn't help but notice a certain coarseness to her hands, The sign of someone who hasn't just been resting around. In fact, something about the girl looks familiar... "Well, that's a great name. Say..." Pulling Isoroku in closer with a quick tug, Kat took the moment to examine her up close. Short hair, Strangely blue eyes, overall good looks that you can expect from a- "Hey, I think I've seen you on a poster or somethibg. You an... Actress or something?" Shari, who has never paid attention to advertisement with humans on them and thus would not have recognized Isoroku resumed staring out into the crowds as she was doing prior to everything, now taking out her sketchbook from behind her only to be interrupted by Hanako calling her out. She gave the girl a quick greeting via a quick grunt of acknowledgement before going back to her drawings. Actually, this was one of Machi's friends, so she needed to do a bit more. Looking up from her book she waved her claw at the girl and greeted her, "Greetings, I mean... Greetings." Took her mind a bit to adjust switching between languages. Least of all her second and third languages. |

"W-well, an actress is kinda pushing it, actually. I did appear in a few web series and dramas, but that's it. I'm a part-time photo model, to be exact," Isoroku informed the woman, surprised a little when she was pulled closer by her. The other one seemed to be ignoring her, which was fine. Isoroku had been intruding, after all. Then, Hanako showed up. Isoroku felt something odd from the girl and from how terse her greeting was. And it seemed that she was familiar with the girl who ignored her, so this matter could only be brought up much later. "Hello, Hanako," she said to the girl. She was about to say 'nice to meet you', but she stopped herself from saying that, thinking that it might be improper at the moment. She had heard of what had happened to Hanako before, and she didn't want to unintentionally upset her. |

The bare minimum niceties of acknowledging people that you knew was taken care of. Shari seemed to be cut from the same cloth, so if she didn't have anything worthwhile to say, then it was high time she just up and got the hell out, wasn't it? She was familiar enough with English to have a very accented, kind of stilted but conversational level of fluency in it. Truth be told, Nagashima was just crawling with Anglophones, so even if she wasn't intentionally learning it for her future career she would have had enough immersion to actually know what all these foreigners are talking about. It seemed all they ever got were Americans, Canadians and Englishmen with anyone from other places being the rare outliers.Anyways, she said her piece. ”Well, I'll leave you to it then.” She had no intention of lingering in that goddamn mall for a moment longer than she had to without good reason, and it wasn't like she was invested in this conversation going on that Shari was engaged in, right? |

Well that just sounds like a complicated way of say "Yes, but no", thought Kat. Kat's attention quickly turned to Hanako as she sensed a certain tone of irritation and hostility from the girl. Quickly letting go of Isoroku, she tactfully asked her, "You erm, know something about why she's acting like someone shit in her cereal?" Even as a complete stranger, she couldn't just let a stranger (heck, a stranger who she was wasn't sure she could talk to) get down like that. Maybe it was just a sense of needing to wrong rights and maybe it was just a need for attention. She quickly delivered a sharp whistle towards Hanako in an attempt to catch her attention and gestured with her Talons to come back. She was going to do something about this. Shari meanwhile was content to leave Hanako to her business when the sound of Kat's whistling pierced her ears like a scissor through a kitten. Dropping her sketchbook to the ground, she darted her head around in a panicked state. She always did have issues with sharp sudden sounds and this time was no different. |

Isoroku looked at Hanako, concerned. She could tell that something seemed off about her. When she heard Kat asking her about Hanako, she blinked, trying to process what she was trying to ask before she said, "Umm... p-pardon? W-why would anyone s-shit in anyone's cereal?" Isoroku asked, being a little out of touch when it came to English expressions or figures of speech. Then, she glanced back at Hanako and finally understood what Kat meant. "O-oh, umm... I do not know?" she said uncertainly. When Hanako was about to leave, Isoroku was about to come over to her and ask her what was wrong, but before she could do that, Kat suddenly let out a sharp whistle that stopped her in her tracks. She blinked in bewilderment as she looked at the one who whistled before she looked back at Hanako. Why in the world would anyone whistle like that in public? Isoroku also noticed that Shari seemed to be panicking upon hearing the whistle. As for Isoroku, she was confused, unsure what to do in this situation. |
