Sho Fukumachi, and Sio Murakami. They both made good enough impressions on her that she probably wouldn't have too much trouble remembering names. Sho was a strange one, but he seemed harmless and nice so definitely the right kind of strange. And she always felt a bit of a sense of kindred spirits with people who were most comfortable working with their hands.

Sio's striking features were her unique eyes and her understated, demeanor and deadpan delivery. She was like something out of a dream. Really. When she asked they follow her along, she did so without further ado. She did give Sho a friendly smile though as she moved up besides him.”Hey! It's no problem. We all have days like that!” She couldn't have been too gracious though. Sio had made it clear that she wanted to foot the bill, For the both of them. She must have had the money to throw around and the good will to want to do so.

The place was kind of bare. She didn't know why yet, but she hoped that wasn't a sign they had a not-so-great time in store for them. When they were all seated, she offered the glue and any assistance that Sho might have needed, though he probably didn't need the latter.

She was in a hamburg steak mood at that time, maybe she'd see how this place served that up?

Sio Murakami and Yayoi Kawai, it was nice to have names to go with these friendly, smiling faces. Everything was going so well, barring the initial tragedy of Tanjiro that brought them together, that Sho hardly knew what to do with himself besides smile. He was thankful for Sio's directness in guiding them to the restaurant and for clarifying that he too was getting a free meal, even though he hardly did anything to deserve it. Still, it was an interesting turn of events.

"You're too kind Murakami-san! Thank you so much!" Sho would have stopped to bow again but Sio had already turned around and wouldn't have seen it. Instead, Sho simply followed behind with Yayoi who had matched pace with him, assuring him that the belated introductions were no big deal. Sho started thinking about how else he could show his gratitude to Sio and Yayoi. You could only say 'thank you' so many times before the words sort of lost meaning, and Sho already wasn't entirely comfortable getting treated to lunch and offered assistance in restoring Tanjiro for little to no reason besides kindness. He had to do something.

The restaurant was thankfully mostly empty. Sho wasn't very worried about the time but the less people there were to serve the quicker they could eat and be on their way. Not to mention the amount of distractions would be lowered if there was less of a crowd. Curiously, Sho noticed that the waitresses' were wearing cat ears. Did they stumble into some sort of odd maid cafe? The thought of the waitresses making cute cat noises upon taking orders was the first thought that jumped into Sho's head upon considering the ears. The second thought was of his cat B.B and how she might be jealous if he was hanging around other cats. The final thought before reaching the table was how Tanjiro would probably not approve of the restaurant they were being restored in, dogs tended to not like cats.

Sho took his seat and was already reaching into his school bag when Yayoi held out the glue. Sho would no doubt have glue somewhere in his bag, glue specially formulated for adhering to plastic, but it would be rude to refuse Yayoi again since the glue was right in front of him. Sho reached out and accepted the glue from Yayoi with a smile and thanks, then continued fishing in his bag for his tools and Tanjiro. When he was finish, Sho had Tanjiro's broken body within a plastic bag, the glue, an X-acto knife, a small piece of fine grit sand paper, a small bottle of white paint that matched Tanjiro's fur color, and a paint smeared washcloth that all the items were laid out on top of.

Already taking her seat, Sio just watched as Sho started the repairing process of the broken toy. She had nothing to offer in order to help him, and she didn't have the right skill to assist him. Seeing that Yayoi had lent the boy her glue, Sio just remained silent, watching Sho doing his job repairing the Tanjiro figurine. She had nothing else to offer besides having him do the repair comfortably in the restaurant.

Soon enough, a waitress came over to their table, bowing politely before handing them the menu. "Good afternoon! May I take your orders?" The waitress asked, taking out a notepad to jot down their orders. "We offer all sorts of foods, from steak to rice! And since today we are having Cat's Appreciation Day, you can enjoy a cup of coffee decorated with latte art of cats!

There were a lot of steak dishes in the menu, as well as rice dishes, and Sio was having trouble coming up with a decision. After some time, though, she finally decided to have breaded chicken fried steak and orange juice. "C-chicken fried steak, and... orange juice, please?" Sio didn't wear her glasses, so she had a bit problem reading the menu, hence why she stuttered and paused a little while saying that to the waitress. The waitress then took the order before looking at both Sho and Yayoi inquiringly.

If she was being totally honest, she didn't even notice the cat ears at first. Perhaps she just assumed it was a gimmick to get assess in seats. But nah, there was a totally logical reason for it, once the waitress explained. Was that really a nationally recognized holiday? She supposed it didn't matter.

It was, totally cute, though. As she handed off the glue that she hoped would serve the job well, she watched as Sio had made her selection for what she wanted. Yayoi glanced up and down the menu. She had a good idea of what she wanted, but it didn't hurt to know what else they had if she wanted to visit the place with Sacchan or someone else later.”I'll have a hamburg steak an' a cup of that coffee, thanks.” She was engaged, and friendly. Bright and attentive but yet, at the same time…

Her real interest lied elsewhere, she politely let the waitress resume her job and awaited her chance to watch Sho worked. It was outside of her expertise, but there was more in common with a lot of what she and her grandpa and dad did than different when it came to careful, delicate work like the sort Sho was getting ready to do. ”So, Fukamachi-san. How long have you been working at the shop, then?” He had all the tools he needed right on hand. He probably had some glue too, did he just uses hers to be polite? She wasn't being a bother, was she?

Sho was stooped over his tools and poured Tanjiro's body from the bag onto the center of the washcloth. As if dismemberment wasn't enough, Sho also resorted to asphyxiation of the dismantled Tanjiro...not that the figure breathed but it couldn't have been comfortable either way.

Not having a chance to properly examine Tanjiro, Sho took in the work he had cut out for him by picking up each individual piece and examining them in the light, turning them over in his fingers. The body was in ten distinct pieces and the majority of the breaks were clean enough that any cleaning of the edges was minimal at best, but at least 3 of the pieces had been bent and warped slightly from the stress of being stomped on which meant that even if the glue held, Tanjiro was liable to come apart again if not handled gingerly. As Yayoi said before, it wouldn't be the same but it's something. 'Something' was the right word for it.

Sho was broken out of his concentration when the waitress arrived. Cat Appreciation Day! Sho didn't know that a holiday like that existed. He'd have to remember to get something special for B.B after he got off work, maybe a new toy or some catnip. He could already feel her claws dig into him if he didn't remember to get her something. As Sio and Yayoi completed their orders, Sho glanced over the menu and tried to figure out how to not to take advantage of Sio's kindness in feeding him today, "Uhm... I'll take the saikoro steak please and water will be fine, Thank you." After he completed his order he gave Sio a look of concern, was she nervous being around them now? He noticed her stutter and pause in her order which was odd considering how direct she was just a moment ago. Did Sho do something to disturb her?

His eyes lingered on her before turning to Yayoi who inquired about his job, which took him by surprise. Sho scratched the back of his neck be for giving a small smile, "Ah, well, I've been working for Nobuyoshi-sama's store for a year or so now..." Sho paused, considering how to proceed before continuing, "If you're unfamiliar, its a collectible game store. I mainly handle the miniature and model side of things for Nobuyoshi-sama while he handles the rest of the store. I'm still learning so I have a long way to go until i'm any good at it..."

Sho winced after talking so much about himself without knowing too much about the others in front of him. "Uhm, what is it that you do Kawai-san? Do you like working with your hands?" Sho vividly visualized smacking himself in the forehead for asking such a poorly worded question, but he didn't stop there before jumping to Sio and blurting, "And you too Murakami-san! Uhm, if you feel like sharing that is." Sho fell silent, he asked Sio as a bit of an afterthought but he wanted to figure out if something was wrong. He uncapped the X-acto knife and began trimming the edges Tanjiro's pieces that required it as he awaited their replies.

The waitress took the orders before heading to the back. Sio just watched as Sho worked on the toy, carefully observing his work. Perhaps there was something new she could learn from him, though at this rate, there was nothing else she could do besides watching him. She couldn't help but feel a little useless in this situation, considering that she had no suitable skills to help Sho out, and her only contribution here was that she suggested for all of them to come into the restaurant so that Sho could focus better on repairing the Tanjiro figurine. And she was aware of the fact that Sho could do the repairing even without coming into this restaurant.

She pushed away all the dark thoughts as she continued watching Sho doing his work. When she heard Sho telling them about his job. She nodded, processing the new information. There's no wonder he was able to repair the broken Tanjiro figurine, because he's used to such a thing to begin with. Then, Sho asked them about whether they liked working with their hands or not.

Sio blinked, trying to process what he was trying to ask before she tried to come up with a proper answer. "Umm... no, not good with things like that," she said. While she might be talented as a novelist, she was clumsy at best and disaster-prone at worst when it's all about technical stuff. Then she lowered her head and added, "Sorry, got nothing particularly interesting to share..." she admitted. "Got clumsy fingers," she said, telling both Sho and Yayoi how unskilled she was in this particular area, and it made her feel a little self-conscious.

The conversation so far was light, and what Yayoi considered the pleasant sort. She looked up from the emergency surgery on the poor, mangled figure and smiled when he had a question for her. ”Ah, well. I work with wood mostly Furniture, wooden goods, that kinda thing. I dabble in some other things from time to time, but I was practically raised with a chisel in one hand an' a saw in the other? Y'know? It's a family thing…”

She could have talked about that at length, she couldn't really contain her enthusiasm about something like that in her voice. She considered herself pretty lucky that she got to do something like that. ”It's real satisfying to just have something useful you made with your own two hands, right? You know what I mean. I'm sure you'll get into the flow of things at the shop, too.” He already did, no doubt. But it was Yayoi's attempt to bring things somewhat away from her just raving about woodcrafts.

Sio? Well, she didn't know. It would have been a real funny story if one mishap and one-near mishap got three people together who were all an enthusiast for building things in some way, but maybe the girl was the outlier? It was more likely than unlikely.

And that was confirmed when she mentioned she had clumsy fingers. And did she need glasses to read too? That didn't have anything to do with the other, but it was a part of the whole that was this girl she was getting to know. ”Ah, don't worry about it. Everyone's good at something, yeah?”

"Oh..." Sho said meekly, not sure what to say as he felt his a weight form in his chest. Great...he went and made Sio feel bad. He could definitely empathize with Sio though, despite Sho's own efforts in his profession he couldn't help but feel like he was just good enough to get by, not truly good enough to be praise worthy. Not good enough to be useful. It was sad to think the only thing he was "good" at was his job, he had no other useful skills or traits he could make use of.

Those feelings of inadequacy were only compounded when Yayoi enthusiastically explained her own experience in carpentry. Her mention that the trade was passed down her family brought even more feelings of unpleasantness. Sho was more than a little envious that Yayoi had both a craft they loved and no doubt excelled at as well as a family that supported her. Sho's expression was pensive as he replied to Yayoi, his hands busying themselves with finishing up the trimming, scraping the sharp edge of the X-acto knife against the uneven edges of the figure. "Yeah," Sho sighed.

Sho rarely kept any of the miniatures or models he personally worked on and it went without saying he didn't use any of them for their intended purpose. Sho didn't know what Yayoi mean about satisfaction with your own craft.

With the trimming complete, Sho turned his attention to the glue and the most difficult part of the job. Since this glue wasn't what Sho was used to working with he couldn't know how well it would preform. A glance at the label confirmed it would set quick enough but how strongly it would hold was a mystery. Tanjiro's face, which was separated in two, looked up at Sho with a gleeful expression he was sculpted with but Sho could see the worry there. With a deep breath, Sho began the painstaking process of dabbing on glue and pinching the pieces together until they set.

"Don't mess up, Shooooo! By that, I mean no more than you already have today." Tanjiro yipped. Sho silently mouthed the same thing to himself.

Well, it's true that Sio was good at something, but if compared to them, her talent didn't have any real application besides for writing stories. She sighed, feeling more self-conscious than before.

Then, she saw Sho mouthing something silently while repairing the figurine. Blinking in confusion, she looked at him, curious of what he was trying to do. Did he just imagine the toy talking to him or what? Still, this was an interesting thing happening before her, and she would like to observe him more to see what he would do next.

At the same time, a waitress showed up, bringing drinks for the three of them. Sio got a glass of orange juice, Yayoi would get a cup of coffee with latte art of cat and Sho would get a glass of water. They would have to wait for their meals to arrive.

Ah, no. She was getting a read for the mood, and there wasn't a lot of enthusiasm or concurrence for her thoughts re: crafting from Sio (no surprise there), or even Sho. (That she didn't see coming.) She smiled, still, because you were supposed to smile in a friendly conversation, even if you could feel it sliding straight to awkwards-ville.

”Mmm, yeah…so, that's what I'm into…” She was more than happy to just let the subject die when she felt that it was making people uncomfortable. She glanced down to her hands resting neatly on the tabletop one on top the other. She didn't have a chance to see Sho mouthing words to himself as he was getting around to finishing his work.

She had her own instinctive reactions when she wasn't feeling entirely secure with herself. She stooped her head low and pulled in her shoulders a bit. Hoping to look a bit more compact. Now that she thought about it, that sort of thing never really helped her before did it? Still, she was so used to it, she just up and did it without a second thought.

She muttered a silent thanks to any and all gods listening when the drinks came and there was something new to focus on. Yayoi admired the art with shapes and forms done in with foamed cream over her dark brew. She smiles and marvelled at it, and snapped a picture of it with her phone to show Sacchan later.

With that done, with reluctance, she resolved to just go ahead and ruin the cute scene and take her first sip. So warm, with a smoothness and a bit of bite that mellowed out into sweetness. It was good!
