Kotone pursed her lips, chewing over Treo's response like a judge testing a dish of fine food. Eventually, she came out with a smile. "That's good," she remarked, nodding. "I want the same. I wasn't going to tell you anything. If there's anything that girl hates, it's people going behind her back. I'm certain you can understand why." She leaned forward on the counter, looking into the open kitchen space. "Miyuki only told me about the Persona Users once she'd left it all. Once she was done with everything. I wish she'd let me know sooner, but..." Her eyes glazed over as she went over the scene again in her mind - she glanced over the exact spots in the kitchen where they'd been standing that day. "That girl's reluctant to share much of anything. To me, and I'm sure to you, too." Kotone turned back to Treo. "Oh, before I forget. When she comes back, I'm going to pretend to get a message from the office saying they need me to come in so that you two can be alone. Don't do anything you shouldn't." |

WHERE THE FUCK IS MARIO
|
Treo felt like he had just passed the most difficult question of his life. "I can understand why. That much she has told me." He managed to reply, feeling like he had gained some ground in this almost life or death situation. Finally he began to understand. "To be honest, I would be reluctant to share with my own family as well. The entire thing felt like we were chosen at random and I still don't understand it now." A sad fact to admit, but the ruins weren't exactly keen on revealing their secrets, leaving him frequently at a standstill. He nodded his head, a show of trust was to be respected. "I understand." Was all he offered on that standpoint. He didn't know what else to say, his eyes slowly flicking around the room before they rested on Kotone again. "She's lucky to have someone like yourself." He said, probably overstepping his bounds. Treo had mostly grown up alone, so family was something he respected more than anything else. |

Kotone broke eye contact once Treo complimented her, looking down at the kitchen counter with a frown. "She deserved better," she replied quietly. The words were steeped in a wide range of emotions, but Kotone didn't allow the conversation to linger on her momentary weakness for long. She turned back to Treo and affixed him with a hard stare. "I didn't trap you in here just to interrogate you for a few minutes. I have some advice you probably need to hear before she gets back." Kotone glanced at the door, then the clock. She assumed Miyuki was sprinting to the pizza place, so they didn't have too much longer. "I need you to listen," She said. "First, I already told you that she hates people going behind her back. That's obvious. If you've got any bad secrets or crazy ex-girlfriends, like a lot of your community apparently does, tell her first before she finds out on her own, regardless of whether or not it's a pleasant experience." She waited for a response before continuing, trying to gauge how many skeletons Treo had in his closet. |

The hard stare put him back on edge. Advice...? Advice helped. Advice was perfect. Treo was quiet and listened to Kotone carefully. Bad secrets? Ex-girlfriends? No... nope. Definitely none of either of those. Definitely not. The response was met with a nod of his own. "Obviously we all have her respective things to hide, I assure you though, I don't have any stalkers waiting in the wings. I have been nothing but honest with your daughter." Which for Treo was more difficult than it sounded. Evidently it did mean that eventually someone would find out... that. A small twitch in his eye. "I don't have any interesting secrets. I've been as honest as I can be with you and your daughter." Treo stared back into her eyes, almost as if he was presenting his own flimsy front in reply. Of course, most people knew the person with the least to hide, had the most to hide in truth. |

His response was... concerning, but Kotone knew she likely didn't have the time to fish around for a more convincing answer. She simply nodded and replied, "If that isn't the case, I can assure you that you will regret it." She allowed the statement to hang in the air for a moment before continuing. "And the second piece of advice..." She frowned, and the pause that followed was clearly more than simply dramatic effect. "If... Miyuki starts acting strange in the next few weeks - if she becomes distant, or irritable, or if she stops talking to you for a while... don't take it personally." Her expression softened. "It's not your fault. I don't think you've done anything wrong yet. This... will just happen. It'll pass eventually." |

Treo nodded slowly, but didn't know what to say in that situation. He simply stared at her mother and tried to work out why. Of course outside of a few things he didn't actually know Miyuki all that well, she was nice and simply just wanted someone else. The sort of things the teen could admit in his darkest moments. "I understand. I won't pry any further." Which for Treo took a great degree of self restraint. "I appreciate the advice. I don't want you to feel like I'm no different from the last person to get close to your daughter. I understand your reasons and only wish to prove my love for her." He paused for a moment. She got defensive last time. Admittedly that was because of... yeah. That would do it. The teen nodded once more and gave a smile, feeling a little bit more relaxed. "You're an interesting person ma'am. I'll keep my word." |

Kotone sighed, running a hand through her hair. "That's appreciated, though... it's possible you should." She looked hesitant, thought for a moment, and then shook her head. "I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. There's no need to rush, but at the same time... I'm sure you don't like to see her hurting either." Kotone stopped, as if she noticed something imperceptible, then subtly pulled out her phone. She unlocked her screen, speaking quickly and quietly as she began fiddling within an application. "I'm sure you're different, but that's a big word you used there, kid. I'm sure she's already freaked out on you about that - she likes you a lot, you know. Probably more than she lets on." She was practically rushing through her words at this point. "Anyway, just do what you think is best unless it's really fucking stupid. I meant what I said earlier, if you pull any funny business with my daughter under this roof, you - " The door slammed open. " - want to see another baby picture?" Kotone asked, all smiles and laughs now. "See, this is one where - " "Oh my god, mom." Miyuki dropped the pizza on the counter and immediately went for the phone, which actually did have a baby picture Treo would be able to grab a glimpse of. Kotone went to her feet and spun away with practiced ease, Miyuki trying in vain to snatch the mobile device away. Kotone's phone vibrated, and she frowned, seeming to stop and open up a different app. "Looks like fun time's over," she said. "I'm being called back in. It seems serious, so I should get going." Miyuki stopped, pulling away from her mother with a frown. A note of genuine concern appeared on her face, and she was about to say something when Kotone interrupted, placing a hand on her daughter's shoulder with a deadpan look on her face. "Don't fuck him too hard. He seems weak." Miyuki stood frozen, completely red in the face, as Kotone closed the door behind her, cackling the whole way. |

Treo sat and listened, only offering a brief few nods to fill in his replies. He really did like Miyuki quite a lot. Something about her put him at ease. Made him feel like trying to shoulder the whole world was a lot more easier. Gave him grounding. He had even started to turn himself around, three square meals and almost seven hours of sleep every night. Before the door slammed open he mentioned a quiet "Thank you." Pondering what to say at the right time. Without the information she had given him. It wasn't fair. Finally when Miyuki entered he gave a smile to her. He saw the baby picture for only a second as the phone was snatched back up. As Kotone left, Treo was left once more wondering just how did someone like her exist. A few moments later he cleared his throat and smiled. "She seems nice enough. Was wondering why i wanted to get close to you..." He petered off and shrugged. "I figure she's just worried about you or something." It was a rare time for Treo. He didn't know exactly what to say. |

Miyuki let out a flustered sigh, stomping forward and dropping herself down on the sofa. The pizza laid forgotten for the moment, Miyuki wanting to get all of the awkward and unfortunate emotions her mother had left her with out before getting dealing with anything else. "She's the worst," Miyuki insisted, "just dropping that in my face. While you're here! She knows that..." Miyuki hesitated, then just shook her head. "Ugh." She looked over at Treo, raising an eyebrow. "And she just wanted to know? Knowing my mom, I figured she'd, like, interrogate you or something. Nothing weird happened?" She patted the spot to her right on the sofa. "Also, come over here." |

"Nothing weird happened. She just wanted to make sure I wasn't planning anything untoward." The Wild Card scratched his neck and shrugged his shoulders. Ultimately two things he did a lot. Usually when he wasn't sure how to react in a certain situation. Almost filler for that reason alone, to give him time to think about a new answer. "Nah. Nothing weird happened." The teen nodded his head and sat down next to Miyuki and smiled slightly. "Its nice to just spend some time with you every now and then. How's your week been?" He asked almost, well... normally. The appeal of being able to shut his mind off to the relatively weird goings on of Nagashima with Miyuki was almost why it was so appealing to be with her. "Mine's been pretty good. Work at the office is drying up so I might need to look for a real job." |
