Kiku sat down as instructed, eyeing the apartment and not quite looking at Momo's face until she spoke up again. Oh god, more details? There was something she could think of, right?

"We j-just... um... i-it... was... school w-was over, a-and we... we, uh... m-met?"

She paused. Change the subject!

"Uh, M-Makoto-sama, I just thought of something. I-If you didn't already know about this, then... wh-what did you want to ask me about in the first place?"

Momo eagerly awaited more details. "Okay, okay... You met, and...?" She was fidgeting in her chair from excitement, unable to contain herself. "Was it right after school? Was it dramatic? How'd it come up? Who said something first? It was you, right? There's no way Ryuu would - oh, unless he did! Oh, maybe he's growing up, oh gosh, I - huh?"

Oh no. Kiku was changing the subject. Momo didn't really want to change the subject - all the other stuff was way more depressing. "Oh, no, it wasn't anything important, Aoki-chan. Let's go back... to..." Momo remembered Kiku's incredibly obvious username. She was possibly in actual trouble, and if she was, then that meant Ryuunosuke was as well. Also, they were all in danger to begin with. This... wasn't something she could just push aside, regardless of how cute this conversation was.

"Uh. Actually, I... wanted to ask about something important." She cleared her throat, trying her best to regain her composure. "I want you to know that neither of you are in trouble, I just... need to know."

Momo looked Kiku in the eye and asked, "you two have personas, right?"

Kiku's eyes went wide, a nauseous pit forming in her stomach. This wasn't something Momo was supposed to know. This absolutely wasn't supposed to happen.

"I..."

Her mind was going off a million threads, trying to piece together another strand to the web of lies she'd been spinning. Would coming up with another fake story work? Should she just play dumb? Kiku tugged at her collar - why was it so warm in here?

How did Momo even know about Personas? And how did Momo know she had one? Who could have told her? Surely Ryuunosuke hadn't said anything - right?

"I d-d-don't know wh-what you're...." Kiku couldn't finish her sentence - she was trembling in her seat.

After a silent moment, she squeaked out, looking away from Momo: "...h-how did you...?"

Momo's eyes softened and she instantly felt a pang of regret when Kiku started trembling. She hadn't expected the reaction to be quite so panicked... but, then again, she hadn't known what to expect at all, really.

"It's okay, Aoki-san," she whispered, leaning in and placing a hand on Kiku's shoulder. "Don't worry. You can tell me. I won't tell anyone." Momo paused, then added, "A friend of mine told me everything that's happening in the city. I'm just concerned for your safety."

She tried looking into Kiku's eyes, gauging her reaction. "Are you okay with talking about this?"

Kiku looked back at Momo, wrapping her arms around herself and generally looking pretty darn uncomfortable. "I... y-yeah, it's fine. I just... i-it's not supposed to be something other people know about, I-I guess." She sniffed. "If you promise you won't tell anyone," she added meekly.

She had to tell the truth now - there wasn't anything else to say. But would the others on Bedlam get mad at her? She really, really didn't want Joe or Ryuu to be upset with her....

"I-I've, uh, I've had mine since spring break, before school started. I don't know how it happened. I was just doing some shopping, and before I knew it, I-I was in this weird... well, we usually call them the ruins."

Momo shook her head. "Well, I already know, so there's not much getting around it now. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone anything. I know it's... all a secret." There was a chance, at least, she told some trusted people the things she had learned, but at the very least, she wouldn't directly implicate Kiku. Poor girl didn't deserve that.

Momo's eyes widened when Kiku explained when she'd gotten her persona. "That's... before I first met you, even." How long had all this been going on behind her back? Momo hesitated, then asked, "Ryuunosuke... has one too, right? Do you know how long he's had his?"

Kiku hesitated. She'd already mentioned Ryuunosuke had a Persona, but at least that was just confirming Momo's suspicions. But telling her more, behind Ryuu's back? Was that breaking his trust? Was it right?

But... Momo would probably find out anyways. She's was Ryuu's sister - if she really wanted to know, she could just ask him.

Kiku looked away for just a moment before her eyes went back towards the older woman. "He, u-uh... I think he mentioned...." More hesitation. She sighed, bowing her head to avoid looking at Momo as she finished: "I think he mentioned th-that it was sometime last year."

Momo let out a deep breath, running her hands through her hair. "Last year," she repeated dully, looking scarcely able to believe it. Her baby brother had been sitting with all this since last year?! How had he managed not to tell anyone? Even her parents hadn't told her anything, so they clearly didn't know. Not to mention, from what she could tell from that forum, they all went in and trained regularly? Fought monsters?

Momo fidgeted in her seat, filled with deep concern. "Does... I know you guys have a community. Is he active in it? Does he go to the, uh, 'ruins' a lot?" She paused, then added, "Do you? Aren't... there are monsters there, aren't there? Like, real ones?"

Her voice was trembling - even now, it all felt so unreal.

Again, Kiku took a while to speak back up. She was certain now - this didn't feel right at all. She was betraying Ryuu's trust, but if Momo wanted to know... Kiku wasn't going to tell her no. She would just hate herself for it after.

Kiku's head continued to hang low as she spoke. She'd balled her hands together, looking at them as she twiddled her thumbs. "He's... both of us, we've gone there every so often. We always..." Wait, that wasn't right. "Well, we, uh, usually go together. We're supposed to, at least.

"The monsters, um... y-yeah. We call them Shadows."

Momo's response was simple. She sat silently for a few moments, meeting Kiku's gaze, eyes searching for some kind of answer. Her fists balled up in her lap, and she asked, "... Why? Why do you go?"
