And so Kiku found herself at Momo's doorstep once again, scratching her head at the rather out-of-the-blue text. Sure, Momo had offered another cooking lesson at some point, but it had been a month without any discussion of it - Kiku figured the offer had kind of just fizzled out. Regardless, it was such a kind offer from such a kind person Kiku would never even consider turning it down... but she had kind of planned on studying for midterms today. Eh, it would probably be alright. What could Momo want to ask her about? School? Ryuunosuke? The failed Golden Week excursion? Maybe she had a boring Sunday off from work and just wanted to make small talk with Kiku. Just like last time, two of Kiku's fingers politely rapped on the door to the apartment. Unlike last time, it was a nice day out instead of a rainy, gray mess, so Kiku wasn't clinging for dear life under an umbrella. |

Well, Momo hadn't slept. This wasn't going to go well. At the very least, she was used to not sleeping. Long, long work hours and an illustrious college career of partying and studying, in that order, meant that she was used to being sleep deprived. Still, though, she'd never been quite so tired under so much duress. That long talk with Chika, along with the subsequent link she'd received from the girl, had illuminated a lot of things in Momo's life that she... honestly would have been better off not knowing. No, she thought, it was better that she knew. Ryuunosuke wouldn't have to suffer alone this way. One thing that she'd noticed on that forum - Bedlam, wasn't it? - was a user by the name of "AokiKiku." Now, Momo didn't exactly need to be a supergenius to put that user's name and the way they spoke together and come up with the fact that her little brother's cute new friend was definitely also a persona user. Also, she was using her real name on the site which seemed incredibly dangerous, considering there was a group out there trying to kill them. Also, there was a group out there trying to kill all of them. Momo definitely would have been drunk already if she didn't have things to do. She was considering drinking anyway. Two knocks. Very quiet, dainty and polite. There was Kiku. Attempting to rub out the bags underneath her eyes, (it didn't work) Momo answered the door and offered Kiku the best smile she could. "Hey, Aoki-chan," she said. Momo was still wearing her work uniform from last night, having not bothered to change since she got home. "How's it going?" Edited by Supnitle, May 7 2017, 01:54 PM.

Kiku gave her own smile back, which wavered for just a moment when she noticed the circles under Momo's eyes. That was a feeling Kiku was too familiar with since starting high school, and the uniform Momo was still wearing made it clear what the source of her tiredness was. Was work life really that difficult? Very deliberately avoiding asking about Momo's eyes, Kiku offered her own greeting. "Hello, Makoto-sama. I, uh, thank you for having me over again." She stepped inside, shedding her peacoat and boots, hanging her purse with the jacket. It left her in a teal floral-patterned sweater, quite possibly the least-fashionable thing to ever exist, ever. "So, um, what did you want to cook today?" |

Oh, crap, they were supposed to cook something. Had Momo texted her that? She hesitated in a decidedly non-Momo-like fashion, trying to think of something easy to cook. What would Kiku like? What did she even have the ingredients on hand for? Was any of this even important? "Actually, first, Aoki-chan, I wanted to ask you about something." She tried very hard not to sound like she was about to interrogate Kiku, hoping to come off more casually than she really felt. "I, uh... I had a talk with a classmate of yours, recently. A friend of Ryuunosuke's too." Her eyes narrowed. "Have... you two been hiding something from me?" |

Kiku blinked. What did Momo know? What was she asking, exactly? And how should Kiku respond? More lies? She blurted out the first one that came to mind. "Ryuunosuke and I are dating!" She paused. Wait, what did she say? "Um, we had been w-waiting for the right time to tell you. But I-I guess this is... it's... uh, uh... s-sorry." She scratched the back of her head, grinning very, very nervously. |

Momo opened her mouth. She closed her mouth. She opened it again, as if she had something cognizant to say, then closed it again. Well. She hadn't been expecting that. It took a few moments, but the explosion of emotion came out eventually. Momo swept up Kiku in an enormous hug, lifting the shorter girl a full foot off the floor and possibly constricting her windpipe. "REALLY? Really, really, really?! Oh, Aoki-chan, that's good! That's really, really good!" She was actually jumping up and down in excitement, taking Kiku with her. "That's better than good, that's great! I'm so happy for you, and for him, and... Oh my god, this is so great!" The jumping stopped, but the exclamations kept coming. "Oh, gosh, I'm just so happy you two are together and you're so cute together and he's found someone who makes him happy and that you're there for him and it's so wonderful and... ahhh, ahuuh, oh, geez, I..." At some point in the last minute of excitement, Momo realized that she had started actually crying. Weeping and emotional and embarrassed, Momo pulled away from Kiku, wiping her eyes rapidly. "S-Sorry, I just... shit, uh..." Momo sniffled, then said, "He's just never been very good with people, y'know? And - and I worry about him - we all worry about him - and it's been a long week so that's... I'm just really relieved to hear it." She smiled through her tears, trying to calm down, taking deep breaths. "S-So... how'd it all go down? I want to hear all the details!" |

Okay, now Kiku was in the air. And breathing was a little hard, which wasn't fun. And now Momo was jumping and oh god, was this woman always so excitable? Okay, yeah, she was, but Kiku had never seen her do this much. Kiku liked it better when her feet were on the floor. When she was eventually blessed to be put back down on the ground, Momo's expression and tearful joy immediately replaced Kiku's relief with a sudden feeling of awful. How was she supposed to tell her the truth now? The sheepish grin on Kiku's face remained, only growing a bit wider. "It j-just... um... y-you know? H-Happened?" A pause. "Well, I-I-I mean, we, uh, we're around each other a lot, and... so one day it was... just...?" She scratched a temple with a single finger. |

Momo nodded eagerly, eating up every detail. "Yeah? Yeah? It was spontaneous, huh?" She reached over towards the counter, grabbing a tissue and wiping her eyes again. "Ahaah, that's like him. He wouldn't ever be able to plan out anything for this kind of stuff. He's way too awkward." A thought occurred to her - how spontaneous had the whole thing been? Ryuunosuke really didn't understand much about relationships, as far as she knew... Instantly, Momo's expression flipped, a worried look on her face. "Aoki-chan, he hasn't done anything weird, has he? If he has, let me know; as his older sister, I have a responsibility to teach Ryuu how to act around girls." Besides, who knew what Ryuu was learning from his weird, tatooed hobo friend? Certainly nothing good. |

"No! N-Nothing weird, of course not. H-He's... nice. A-And not awkward. Don't worry." The finger on her temple slid down a bit, starting to twirl a strand of hair around it. "Senpai wouldn't do anything weird." Kiku really, really needed to come clean before this got out of hand. "We just... I guess we just realized we liked each other!" That wasn't coming clean at all. "A-And he was one of the first people I met here, a-and he'd always been nice, s-so... i-it seemed... natural?" Kiku was going to build a well with how deep she was digging herself. But Momo seemed so happy - it would be even worse for Kiku to take that away now. |

What the hell, man - this was way too cute. Momo was pretty sure she was going to die. Honestly, at this point, there was no way she was going to change the subject back to stupid magic people and cults and all that horseshit. No, she was significantly more interested in her little brother's sudden love life. Momo smiled widely. She pulled out a stool and sat on it, gesturing at another one for Kiku to do the same. She figured they were going to be talking for a while, so it made sense to sit down. "How'd it all end up coming out, though? Ryuu isn't really one to talk about this kinda thing, y'know?" |
