Name: Dominique Rousseau Gender: Male Age: Sixteen[Birthday: January 12th] Class: 2-2 Clubs/Occupation: Art Personality: To say that Dominique is only a little disorganized would have been a fairly large misrepresentation of just how disorganized he really is. He means well of course, but every time he goes to sort out the pile of laundry in his room he just gets bored. Eventually he gets extremely distracted and well the mess just grows from there. The same thing could be said for the smaller and more confined spaces of his treasured messenger bag that he carries around. He certainly means to clean it out one day, but he's so easily distracted and mess prone that he never really gets to it even though he's sure that there's broken bits of glass down at the bottom. Surprisingly enough given his normal state of supreme distractions, Dominique becomes almost hyper focused when it comes to his art. When he's painting or sketching or even building a sculpture out of clay it's like the whole world around him just fades away. It's actually really hard to break him out of this trance and really the only surefire way of doing so it to tell him that food is done. He tends to get irritated at first when his attention is brought away from his art, but he quickly calms down. As far as he's concerned he can just come back to it again after the latest distraction fills him with some new inspiration. Dominique would like to think that joyful is his default state of being in his day to day life. He's an energetic teenager that tries to treat others how he would want to be treated after all. Still even this energetic and youthful person has his off moments and it isn't too abnormal to see him get depressed over something. He tries to hide it and likes to wear a smile to make people feel better, though his expressive eyes give him away most of the time, but he's still trying to get over the death of his childhood friend and crush. He still hasn't processed his grief, and in general he's pretty bad at that, and sometime's even the most innocent of comments can remind him of his deceased friend. Rationally he knows that his friend is dead, but if he feels like if he admits that he's hurting over it then that makes it all the more real. Still despite all of that, Dominique considers himself a rather brave person. If it's to help someone Dominique will in fact rush in to help with no regard to his own personal safety. He tends to act on his impulses rather than thinking things through and in that regard he can be pretty reckless. Curiosity is also another trait that comes naturally to him in his day to day life. When he's not painting, drawing, sculpting, or telling the occasional ghost story he can typically be found going on an expedition to try and explore everything possible. If he can discover a new place then well that would certainly be the highlight of his day wouldn't it? Whimsical has often been a word that's been used to describe him in the past. Dominique often decides on what he wants to do for the day on a whim after all. This does tend to lead to him pulling unpredictable actions seemingly out of nowhere. This is naturally countered by the fact that's he's forgetful as can be. Nine times out of ten he typically spaces out and forgets what it was that he was going to do in the first place. This leads to a lot of aimless wandering as he really doesn't bother writing down what it was that he had decided on. History: To truly understand the circumstances of his birth, you need to go back to a few years before his older brother was born. Back then his father was in love with the daughter of a conductor for a traveling orchestra who was against the idea of his daughter marrying someone of lower status. The lovebirds wouldn't stand for that behavior and in the middle of the night they fled off to get eloped in Paris, France. That was the last time that Dominique's grandfather saw the boy's mother alive. Throughout the years of their marriage, Dominique's mother is being eaten alive over the guilt of breaking her father's heart like that and the postpartum depression that came with the birth of her first child. This ultimately lead to his mother leaving in the middle of the night when Luc was almost six and Dominique was barely one year old. He wasn't really old enough to remember her, but her departure left a big impact on the family of three. His father, who was of French decent, tried his best to raise his two sons by himself, but with his work it was rather difficult. As a result Dominique was more often than not left in the hands of his older brother while his father was at work. Dominique really looked up to his older brother, who was five years older than him, and tried to emulate him when he was younger. His older brother used to be super into art for a few years which sparked Dominique's love of art. The first few years of his life were actually kind of normal. Sure he didn't even have a mother, but as an infant things were rather uneventful. Even back then he was a rather energetic child and always tried to get someone to play with him. His father was of course too busy working most of the time, but still he had his brother to play with. When he was three he broke his arm after jumping off a swing despite being told not to. Still his early childhood involved normal kid stuff so aside from a few broken bones things were uneventful. When Dominique was six he became friends with a boy named Sebastian who shared a lot of the same interests as him. As far as playground friendships went they were pretty close. Often times they would sleep over at each others' homes as they became best friends over the years. They did almost everything together when it was possible even when they weren't in the same classes at school. Then things got really awkward by the time that Dominique was ten because he discovered that he was crushing badly on his friend. When he turned eleven years of age, Dominique decided to just confess his feelings. So he waited one day for his friend to show up at school, but they never did. He waited for a week before he found out that his friend had died in a hit and run accident. Dominique attended the funeral a few weeks later of course, but he really wasn't sure how he was supposed to process his grief. Truth be told he didn't really want to admit that his friend was dead. Time moves on for Dominique, but the wound of losing someone that close to him never truly heals. As he turned twelve his father and brother started to notice that there was something wrong with Dominique's behavior. He started acting spacier than he used to be and always wore and smile even when they could see the tears running down his face. His father was too busy trying to keep his family afloat to help and his brother, while Dominique idolized him, was too out of touch to know how to help. Still Dominique denied that there was anything wrong with himself. When Dominique turned thirteen years of age his brother started trying to get him to do things to busy his thoughts and keep them occupied. As it turned out, his brother had a lot on his plate when it came to getting the easily distracted youth to focus. Luc tried to get Dominique into music just like Dominique had latched onto art from him before, but Dominique wasn't really that musically inclined. He did find out that he had a good sense of rhythm and that he was a pretty great dancer, but well Dominique wasn't able to carry a tune even if it was to save a life. Despite everything there were still constant reminders that his friend was no more. Eventually his brother was able to convince him to try and enter some art competitions and submit his work to art showcases. The first few competitions really didn't get him anywhere, but with constant encouragement Dominique kept improving. By the time he was a few days from turning sixteen, Dominique found out about a foreign exchange program that his school was holding with another school in Nagashima, Japan while at a showcase featuring what he felt was his best piece to date. Deciding that he needed a change of pace, Dominique decided to enter himself in the program. He wasn't really expecting to be one of the students chosen for the program, but to his surprise he was chosen for the program. He's now attending Taiyoutono High School as a foreign exchange student. Perhaps not all change was a bad thing? Trivia:
