"Well, either way works," Kyo said with a shrug. "Whatever looks nice officially. The point is t' get as much mileage outta this thing as we can, but yeah, plot leaks, someone talkin' covertly t' the press... fuck, I had a guy who'd've been happy t' run that article, except he died a while back... hm..."

Kyo bit a nibble off of the chicken on her fork, and looked up ceiling-ward, eyes glazing over as she either lost herself in thought or in the delicious taste of sesame chicken. It would honestly be hard to tell which of the two it was.

"Atsuko bein' the scapegoat for your partners is a thought," she mumbled. "I'll talk t' her about that. But don't do anything without her knowin' it. Any Persona-user involved in this scheme might become a target, and all of 'em needta know that and they needta know how much danger they're in. I was countin' on somethin' else, actually. Wouldn't the Black Hoods send someone t' try and get involved in the project, see what we were cookin' up, what they could find out about us?"

Kyo took another nibble of her chicken, still staring at the ceiling.

"You are doin' open auditions. If we operate under the assumption that at least one person on your staff is a spy, just that one person seein' what we want the Black Hoods t' see might be enough. They operate in cells, yeah? So the spy would tell his or her cell-mates. And wouldn't it be interestin' if any o' them thought enough o' the information that they passed it along t' other cells through their dead drops? Even the smallest exposure helps, and the more little ways for it t' reach 'em there are, the more likely it is they'll pick up on it. Like say, if there was an 'on location' shoot at some point where a bit o' plot detail might be accidentally overheard. It doesn't seem like much, but small stuff adds up."

"It's possible, but I don't know if they will recognize it right off the bat, and I'm kind of against letting someone in who might sabotage it at this stage, but I suppose we might not catch them before they come in."

He scratched his chin, frowning off into space. After a second, he looked toward her and grinned, displaying his gold tooth, as well as another replacement tooth, further back in his mouth, apparently made out of coral or something else red.

"We can see about leaking something for their benefit, but I'm dubious about that being a strategy we bank on. If you and yours want to hang around the periphery and keep your eyes open, be my guest. We'll film it and get an award for special effects. Either way, we'll probably leak something. I'm putting together a crew of people horribly unsuited to this work, I don't think I have to plan any leaks. We're a fucking colander."

He looked at the clock on the computer, and then began to shovel more of the food into his mouth. After he had gotten most of it down, he said: "Sorry. I need to go talk to someone about a space for auditions...wait."

He coughed into his elbow, then pointed the clean ends of his chopsticks at her.

"I'll be nice. I can be nice every now and then. You want a job?"

Kyo blinked. Looked at Wei, her brow furrowed. "I'm in college, and I'm tryin' to run this set-up at the same time," she said. "If y'think there's a way I can help this along, then I'm game. But it'll have t' be somethin' I can fit around all the rest o' the stuff." A pause. "Might be a good idea if I write this down."

She slid open a drawer at her right, and extracted a notepad and pen, preparing herself to write.

"I'm usually good rememberin' anythin' people tell me in person, y'know?" she said, tilting her head to one side. "But lately, I've found myself stoppin' what I'm doin', realizin' I talked t' someone a little while ago but don't know who, or what was said. Maybe I'm just tired. Anyway, don't wanna take a chance with important stuff."

"Look, I don't think this'll be something that lasts longer than a season, but I have to make it look like it's something I'm planning to do six seasons and a movie of," Wei explained. "So I need to lay the groundwork for the future seasons. And I can think of at least two green-haired Osakans I need to cast. I'm not having anyone play themselves mind, but I've still got the other one. You've got the hair color, you've got the accent, you know how to do at least some of that ridiculous thing you Japanese people call sword fighting. Please tell me that you can put two and two together."

It had been a wild hair to even make the offer, but it made sense to him. She would be hanging around anyway, he might as well get some value out of that.

"Tell you what, I'll sweeten the deal: bring along your boyfriend. Comedy doesn't pay unless your a headliner, we'll get some writers behind him and give him a bit part with a few jokes. If you play the role I got in mind. You dig?"

They would most likely cut that, but Wei had done his homework, and knew that the two of them were trying to pay the bills with minimal income, which was only exacerbated by her boyfriend's insistence on spending his time on standup, which was notable as less than productive. A role on a series -- even a terrible one -- would be a shot in the arm for the guy, and maybe make her agree to do the role. It would only be a scene or two in the first series, but she would be a big part of any hypothetical second or third season.

Kyo straightened up at the suggestion that she play as the only other person fitting her description. For a few moments, Wei was treated a sight that not many people in Nagashima had seen: actual, unfiltered anger on her face. It was the look that had once told Aleksandria Fyodor that she was about an inch and a centimeter from having her nose broken. But the expression was swiftly hidden behind a kind of anonymous strain. Kyo pinched the bridge of her nose, looked away, and mumbled, "That's what you call bein' nice, huh?"

Silence followed. She seemed to be thinking over the proposition. Offering to add Hiroko to the mix had definitely been the right call, as Kyo would almost certainly have said no otherwise. To say nothing of Nana rolling in her grave if she ever found out about this, it was much too on-the-nose to Kyo's personal history with the dead girl. She scowled, looked over, and said: "Okay, fine. But I want say in how she's portrayed. You're lucky as far as that goes, I guess... I'm maybe one o' two people in this city who knows enough about her t' do that."

Wei grinned broadly at her wrathful expression. If anything, the look she gave him was adding more fuel to the fire: if she had demurred, refused with no sign of how much it bothered her, he woudln't have pressed it. Now that he knew how much it pissed her off, his cooperation was contingent upon her agreement.

After all, part of why he was doing this was to irritate those whose behavior bothered him so much, and Kyo was definitely part of that particular clique or system of cliques. Which isn't to say that he disliked her: she should be tough enough that he wasn't able to get under her skin. If she wasn't, he wouldn't be here.

"Right, well, my new assistant will bring some paperwork by tomorrow. Release forms, that sort of thing. I should probably go make sure that Yamada-san hasn't found out that the lock on my liquor cabinet's just for show. Unless you've got anything else you need to ask?"

Kyo sighed, pinched her nose again, and muttered, "If you need an actual lock, you can take one before ya go. I bought a few and haven't got a cabinet I've needed t' fix one on. They're in the third draw down on the right in the main room's desk. Just leave the big one, that's for the front door."

A curious admission, since the front door already had an extra lock affixed to the inside. Kyo's eyes went to the second monitor, where the security footage was.

"...Better make that sometime in the early afternoon," she added. "I'm expectin' the evenin'-time t'be a bit risky around here. I've told everyone who asks that my office is only open in the evening 'cause I'm in college and mom's got work. Around now should be good. Doesn't seem like anyone suspicious has been loiterin', anyway."

I have no reason to have said otherwise, and mom knows better than to contradict that, so there shouldn't be a problem... right?

Wei leaned back in his chair.

"Don't worry about it. I prefer the fake lock setup, allows me to see how smart he is. And yeah, afternoon works."

He looked at her. She seemed to be trying to tell him something, or at least to have something on his mind. Extra locks. Security cameras everywhere. Fourth floor location with a single point of entry and external stairs.

"So how long have you been planning this trap?" he asked, his voice flat.

"Since I bought the place, I can't use it for what I want to until the Black Hoods are out of our hair. Though that also means the plan's had time t' change," Kyo replied unrepentantly (she hadn't been hiding the plan, it had just escaped Wei's notice when she'd slipped it in with the earlier ramble he'd glazed past). She spread her arms out, gesturing to the room at large.

"Look, we're in a side room, way away from the big window. That leaves this place vulnerable t' anyone with an analysis ability, yeah? Or at least, it looks that way from the outside, and smells that way to a Persona. The only way t' catch someone who can detect Personas is t' either get someone who don't have one t' go after 'em, or use some kinda trickery or gadgetry that don't involve Personas. And I'm not the kinda slime that Control is, I ain't gonna take advantage of any non-Persona-users for this. The hope is that Control or someone workin' close with 'im will case the place. I think it might already be happenin' actually, but I can't remember for sure. Anyway, if I can get close t' him, engage him in conversation, and do the same trick with my phone and voice-chat that me and my mom pulled on Ms. Gold, we can get some evidence about his identity and how he does what he does. That'd be our first real step toward puttin' an end t' this and movin' on. And then we can put this office t' use for makin' our ruins trips more efficient."

Kyo snapped her finger in front of her as if to say it'd be easy, then scooped up some rice and stuffed it in her mouth, turning her eyes back to the security display.

"'Sides, there's somethin' I needta make sure of," she added through her mouthful of rice. "And I'm the loudest big-name target there is, might as well own it and use it for somethin'. Don't worry, I'm not doin' this alone. Got my mom helpin', and she'll get whoever else can help with it when the time comes. There's still a chance he won't take it, or that I'm bein' paranoid, maybe."

Wei shrugged. He honestly didn't care if she did things like this alone: it was her prerogative to do that if she wanted to risk it. It was her neck, and he didn't need it, though if she was going to be one of his actors, maybe he should at least consider finding a way to convince her to lessen her risk-taking behaviors in the future so that any investments he was making were protected to one degree or another. That was a discussion for a different time.

"Didn't the Imoto kid figure out a way to baffle scanners? Make way too much noise to sort through instead of making no noise at all? So there's two ways, if you play it right."

He shrugged.

Then it hit him: 'Control' -- the Black Hood leader, if he remembered correctly -- was watching this place. Might be now. Which meant that they might be watching right now, and this area was too crowded for Wei to feel comfortable sticking around too much longer.

He wasn't afraid, but this wasn't the place he would pick for a battlefield. He got up, and scarfed down the last of his food.

"Okay, well, like I said: I got to get going. My assistant will be by with the paperwork tomorrow 'round now. Get me your contact info and your boyfriend's contact information and we'll get some parts put together for you two. Probably one scene every other episode or something light like that."
