African? African. Though I may have this heritage, I did not step foot onto that continent until I was grown, more than a man. Or no longer a man, depending upon whom you consult. Aesop sounded insulted, though you could tell merely from the familiarity of it how he had to explain this before.

Ren looked a little confused for a moment, but it was replaced with remorse a second later. Guilt seemed to be upon him as the artist behaved with displeasure and disappointment. It lessened as she spoke up however, and gave advice, of all things.

"I know they're not completely me," Ren admitted, "Before I ran into you, I actually had a... an argument about that. Well, more about being annoyed by what he's saying. He's a help when there's trouble, but when there's not and things are normal, he... well, you can probably draw up some accurate conclusions."

As Susaki looked upon him, Ren felt unsure of what to say. Almost pathetically, he posed a question. "Did anyone ever try to board up the entrances? It'd save a lot of people if the butterfly can't get them down there."

"'Course we did. Doesn't do any good in the end, though. Thing is, there's a lot of entrances out there, and a lot of them lead down into deeper parts of the ruins than people who've just awakened can handle. Hell, that way we went down to talk with Ms. Gold? That's one of them, Kyo just usually keeps it locked," Kaede said. She shrugged. "Neither option's great, but if we've gotta pick the lesser of the two evils, locking up the shittier entrances and keeping the more survivable ones open is our best bet."

She looked at Ren again, frowning, before crossing her arms again.

"Look... I get you more than you know. Trust me, having a magic sibyl, and then a magic ice sibyl, running around in your brain means that you kind of start questioning shit about yourself and where these things come from, and what the hell that means about everything else. I guess the only thing I can say to that is... it's symbolism. Don't take it so seriously," Kaede said. "Try and think of it as some weird unconscious part of you talking? That's my best advice."

Symbolism? Symbolism? Aesop cawed out a cackle that was not fit for human vocal chords. Oh, how symbolism complicates everything. If a controller of nature sends forth animals upon you, a controller of nature sends forth animals upon you, none of these twisted metaphors. A long gulp came forth, and Ren let out a sigh at the Persona's antics, arms hanging limp.

"Something's talking, I guess," he offered meekly. "It figures it's a part of me I'd rather not think about, but... it's there." After a moment of quiet, he spoke up again, asking "What's a sibyl,
anyway?"

The explanation regarding the closing of the entrance to the facility had a reaction different from the advice given.
"Oh, so it just reroutes. And if that place is constantly expanding, that could include new entrances, and then... just how big are Nagashima's sewers?" Ren breathlessly asked, switching from his depressing realization to a potentially poor idea. His left hand went under his chin, carefully going over an idea.

If this leads to where I think it leads.... Aesop chimed with disappointment.

"Not big enough to actually walk through. You know that sewers like that only exist in movies and shitty video games, right?" Kaede said. "Anyways, a sibyl is like... a soothsayer. A seer. Someone who sees the future. Both of my Personas have fallen under that category, though I think Skadi is only like... loosely. Kaerunuma said it was something obscure, not something that's commonly in the narrative. I guess it counted enough for my stupid brain to let me keep the shitty future sight power, though."

It felt a little bit like they were getting in circles... or maybe she was just getting tired of Ren's genius revelations. At least he had the enthusiasm, even if it was directed in the wrong places.

"So, back to your Persona, I think I've given all the advice I've got on how to best deal with him. Like I said, the best way to deal with it is to not let it be a huge deal," she said. She swung her thumb up over her shoulder to point vaguely behind her. "Those guys who let their Personas get to them and go monster over it? They're a massive minority. Guys who usually were kind of fucked in the head to start with, and let the stress of the ruins and fights get to them. Doesn't help that there's Shadows that specifically target your insecurities and traumas out there."

Lowering her hand, she shrugged. "And... yeah. That's basically it. Keep yourself stable, recognize when you're not in a great state of mind, and think hard about your Persona, but not too hard. Sometimes part of it's just accepting the parts of you that make a weirdo Persona happen."
