Tomoyo had decided to let Miharu do the talking and while she wanted to just bonk Hideki so they could all leave, she had no means of carrying him out of there with her injured arm. Miharu flinched when Hideki turned to her in a seeming attempt to yell, but he stopped midway and yelled. "T-Tachibana-san!?" Miharu said as she tried to steady home. "What's wrong? Why---" Upon seeing the change of color in his irises, Miharu froze. What was happening? "Miharu!" Tomoyo suddenly said out of nowhere. Miharu turned to where the girl was facing and saw more of the hoods. Miharu felt like collapsing on her knees right there. Something was wrong with Hideki, there were more people here to hurt them, and they were low on energy and injured. She could feel her heart pounding faster and then a very familiar ache formed in her chest. It suddenly became hard for her to breathe. She was vaguely aware of Tomoyo getting in front of her and Hideki in a protective stance, or that she was still trying to clutch onto Hideki who was now yelling in pain. Before anything else could happen, though, a van appeared out of nowhere and an odd woman with not just any weapon but a shotgun emerged from it. The new Black Hood members had turned their direction to her and one tried to strike her, but failed. Seeing the woman gesture at them, Miharu flinched. "Tomoyo-chan, sh-should we--" "We have no other choice, let's go!" Tomoyo said. Grabbing both Hideki and Miharu, Tomoyo pulled them along into the van. It was a risky move, yes, and she had no idea if they were to be trusted, but it was better than facing the hoods and the woman at the very least did not seem to be on their side. |

The reinforcements arrived, and just like the Hoods that initiated this assault, they were bent on assaulting the Users with complete disregard. But not even the vision of imminent danger was able to shake Hideki away from the trance-like state in which he found himself in. His eyes look like they were completely lost, the sounds that came around him being registered by his mind as mere echoes and unfocused noises. There where footsteps, then another van. He wasn't even looking at what happening around him, so for all he knew, the van was another Hood van ready to run them over. However, that didn't happen, and instead, a woman emerged from it, fending off one of the Hoods before presenting the Users a chance to escape. "... Ah..." In the distance, he saw the broken van that the Hoods used, how it remained broken and unusable. As the girls were busy beholding the new van, Hideki stared at the previous one, as he saw something appear from behind it. Another figure, obscured by the smoke and his unfocused vision, calmly walked to their direction. It looked as short as them, and it didn't look like it was wearing a uniform, in fact, it was wearing mundane clothing. Clothing which, was very similar to his. Hideki let out a gasp before Tomoyo grabbed him and Miharu, and pulled them towards the van. It might prove easier than expected, because Hideki was no showing any resistance, and was easier to pull around. He didn't say anything in regards of the woman or her plan of taking them to the back of her vehicle, because at the moment he was busy with something else. He was busy paying attention at the figure that looked remarkably like him. Almost like an exact copy. With the exceptions of his golden eyes. |

The van was obviously not meant to carry people -- while a sleeping bag was crumpled in the corner of the back area, it was largely empty. This might be a rough ride, depending on how the woman drove. She growled something at the man through clenched teeth, and jabbed the bore of the shotgun toward his face. The knife-man stumbled back, away from her. She climbed, clumsily, back into the van and locked the doors behind her, then scrambled across to the driver's seat. She glanced back, and instructed: "lay down." Atsuko did her best to drop the pitch of her voice when she spoke, not wanting them to be able to identify her voice. Of course, since the cops already knew, maybe she should drop the whole charade and just admit to her identity? Take the knocks that were coming to her? Nah. She turned the ignition on just in time for someone to wind up to swing for the windshield: they missed, primarily because she reversed out of the way, then accelerated on a slightly different vector, winging the Black Hood who had swung to hit her van. She had just gotten it back, she wasn't about to let anyone get away with trying to rob her of her freedom again, even if that freedom took the form of a twenty-year-old van better suited for moving furniture into a studio apartment than something romantic. She accelerated away, and lifted her radio up, listening to the chatter: "Turncoat is headed west on Kawakami. Now turning north...they're gone. They're out of the zone. Switch frequencies and scatter." The radio clattered on the van floor when she dropped it, obviously not caring if it broke. After driving in a roundabout way more north and west, closer to uptown, she parked by the side of the road and looked back at the three rescuees. She wanted to ask if they were okay, but was still nervous about the possibility of speaking to them. So she cocked an eyebrow and gave them a thumbs up, which she switched to a thumbs down, and then a thumbs up again. A couple blocks away, a woman could be seen running along the street, headed in a more southerly and easterly direction. |

Once Miharu and Hideki were successfully in, Tomoyo followed, watching behind her as the woman held back another attacker, closed the doors, and then drove. There was nothing to hold onto, really, so Tomoyo tried to keep her balance. Given the instruction to lay down-- in Tomoyo's mind to probably dodge gunshots like in some weird action movie--she obliged and checked to see if her companions were doing the same. She looked at Miharu and Hideki. "Are you two okay?" she asked. But Miharu was too preoccupied with Hideki to really answer. "Tachibana-san, what's wrong...?" she said in a frightened voice. Though she didn't really need an answer to that. She had seen what happened to his eyes, but she was trying to desperately grasp on the hope that she'd seen wrong. Tomoyo glanced in the direction of the lady, still down flat in position, but ready to get up just in case this lady was gonna hurt them. "Who are you?" she said in a firm voice. "And where are you taking us?" Cliche questions, yes, but necessary in her mind. She wanted to know as soon as she could if the woman posed a threat to them even more than the people they had just gotten away from. Edited by Miharu Yoshikuni, Apr 4 2017, 02:05 PM.

As the doors of the van were closed, the last thing Hideki was able to see where the lone figure of one of the Hoods, on the ground and charred, as his double walked at a slow pace, grinning at the teenager. While the Hoods he attacked were probably going to suffer from severe burns at most, they were probably going to be able to live through it, as his Maragi was still first tier of power. Enough to burn, but not to kill immediately. That, however, wasn't going through Hideki's mind. The mere fact that they were now inside a stranger's van wasn't really something he was thinking of at the moment, right now he was more worried half to death about what he just did. About how he lost control of himself again, a fact that caused his upperclassman to worry about. He turned to her, a look of surprise and fear invading his eyes, as he tried to muster the strength to say something to her. She probably thought he was a monster. "I... Ah..." He tried to say something, but the shame of facing her was also being combined with something else: Tiredness. It was probably the withdrawal of adrenaline, or maybe his body beginning to succumb to his injuries, or perhaps even his loss and regain of control tired him out, but regardless of what it was, the image of Miharu and everything around him began to blur, as his eyes found it hard to stay open. With the way the van was moving, Hideki lost balance, and sat down on the floor, his hand placed on his forehead as he tried to stay conscious. Alas, it was a battle that he wasn't going to win, and soon enough the rest of his body went down, his eyes looking at the vague image of the van's interior ceiling. He screwed up everything. "s... sorry..." And with that, Hideki was knocked out. |

Oh, shit. These kids needed medical attention. Like...serious medical attention. She remembered that Shizuka girl talking about healing at some point. That was something that people could do, right? Right? One of the girls -- the one without the obvious head injury -- inquired in a hostile tone about her identity, and Atsuko had kind of been banking on them being too grateful to worry too much about that. She supposed that, if these kids were involuntarily-drafted child soldiers in a supernatural, secret war of unknown origin, then perhaps she should have banked on them being more suspicious. She was looking back to see if everyone was alright, and flinched at the question. She looked at the girl. She didn't want to speak, didn't want to share her voice with anyone, but trying to communicate by gesture was getting her nowhere. "Back In Black," she said, dropping the pitch of her voice to match her previous statement. These kids were on Bedlam, right? They'd seen that, right? Ah, well, shit, they'd probably check now. That part of it was done. "Need to get you to a healer," she said. Then asked: "Who? Where?" |

When Hideki loss consciousness, Miharu gasped and tried to shake him. "T-Tachibana-san!?" she squeaked out. He seemed to be breathing and save for his injury he didn't some to be in too bad shape. Perhaps the strain of everything got to him. She thought about the last word he said. "Hideki..." Miharu murmured. She clutched her hands tightly. "No, I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to help you..." Meanwhile, Tomoyo was listening to the woman. She hadn't answered her question, but said instead a healer was needed. At this, Miharu perked up. "O-oh, that's right, you're injured, too, Tomoyo," she said. And then, glancing warily at the woman, she murmured, "I-I'm a healer. Granted, I'm only first-tier at it..." Miharu cast a weak Media spell over both Hideki and Tomoyo. It hadn't been enough to fully heal Hideki's wound, but Tomoyo felt improvement on her bruised arm. "Thanks, Mi-tan," she said. Tomoyo looked back at the woman. "Back In Black?" When the woman followed with who and where, Tomoyo was a little more hesitant. "No offense, but I don't feel like divulging who we are just yet--" Miharu touched Tomoyo's arm. "Tomoyo-chan, I think it's okay. She's a user," she said. "That's what I'm picking up anyways." Miharu then turned back to the woman. "I'm Miharu Yoshikuni and this is Tomoyo Sonozaki. This guy over here's Hideki Tachibana. I take it you already get that we're users as well...as for where we're going, Hideki's unconscious. Anywhere safe where he can recover is fine. Actually, my aunt's inn is just in Matechi Street. It's crowded enough to stave off the hoods from making an attack." |

Yes… I’d sell the souls of all humanity to the devil if I thought it’d get us a happy ending.

"Honestly, what in the world is he doing now..." Noriko muttered to herself as she briskly made her way down the path she had sent Hideki down earlier. Today was just supposed to be a simple run, a delivery just like any other time she took something to a customer. Of course the obvious difference was that she had sent Hideki on this errand now, and everything was bad. She hadn't gotten much out of the phone call with him when she checked up on his progress, but what little she heard wasn't good at all. So she chose to trace the path that she sent him on, and it was then that she made the discovery that shocked her and angered her in equal amounts. The package, discarded on the pavement haphazardly as if she didn't spend days working on it. Nearby was a cell phone, possibly the very same one that belonged to her inattentive co-worker. Not that she could tell, it wasn't like she paid attention to what other people's phones looked like in the slightest. Yet, no Hideki. Had he dropped it and run off? Thrown it and left because he wanted to quit? "He's got a lot to answer for, that's for certain..." Noriko's expression turned sour as she picked up her discarded box and tucked it underneath her arm. "Tachibana? Where are you at? I'll have you know that you're not getting away with just tossing my work to the side like this!" She called out to him, but there was no answer. Typical. "Tch... You're not getting away from me that easily." She took off down the alleyway, reasoning that he must have gone down here for some reason or another. Perhaps even hiding after he realized what he done. And still, no Hideki. Noriko was growing more and more frustrated by the second. I swear, if he just decided to ditch everything I'm having mother fire him. This is entirely unbecoming of someone who works at Kaneshiro Metalworks. Her pace picked up in her desperation to find some sort of explanation for all this, but then came to a sudden stop as she found just who she was looking for. Or, at least she assumed. Why he was getting into a van that was parked beside another van was a mystery in itself, as was the identity of the person pulling him into her vehicle. Not to mention that he didn't seem to be in the best shape either... "Wait... What's going on here-Tachibana!" Noriko called out as she began to run towards the van. Were they the reason that the package wasn't delivered? Just who were they? What did they want with Hideki? Whatever those answers were, Noriko was determined to find out. One way or the other. Noriko had never imagined her evening would turn out this way. That she would be chasing down a van that her co-worker had been dragged into for unknown reasons. But follow it she did, chasing the vehicle as well as he could on her own two legs to wherever it's destination it was choosing. She just hoped that Hideki hadn't gotten himself into too much trouble... Edited by Smile Junky, Apr 9 2017, 02:30 PM.

"Okay, you climb up here to guide me," Atsuko said, pointing at Tomoyo, the only one who hadn't been severely injured. "It's kind of cramped, climb out and get in the passenger side, and -- " She stopped, seeing the woman -- Noriko, though Atsuko didn't know that yet -- running up on them. She had obviously been running for quite a while and was clearly coming at them. Atsuko picked up her shotgun off of the passenger side seat, conscious of the fact that it had a chambered round and being very careful not to point it at anyone. The safety was on and she wasn't touching the trigger, but one could never be too careful. "Who the shit is that?" she asked, narrowing her eyes. She turned to the three kids -- only two of which were conscious, and said: "Friend of yours?" |

"O-oh, right," Tomoyo said when Atsuko asked her to come forth to point the way to the inn. "It should just be straight ahead and then--" Like Atsuoko, Tomoyo caught sight of the person running up next to them. Her eyes widened. "Whoa, hey! That's not another hood, is that?" she said. Miharu, upon hearing this, poked her head in the direction Tomoyo was staring and gasped. "Wait, no! Stop! That's Kaneshiro-san! She's a friend!" |
