Hideki let out a small curse as he yanked the hook as hard as he could, and yet he wasn't able to throw the Hood down. What was he, some sort of circus acrobat? He didn't know, but he did notice that he staggered a bit, as he noticed the hook was now stained with more blood, a different one from his.

He probably just gave him a small wound, but the image itself didn't really help Hideki calm down.

However, when he turned his attention again at the Hood, he tried attacking again. Fortunately, his enhanced reflexes allowed him to put the hook around the Hood's wrist, which then made Hideki pull it away, redirecting the attack away from him, and hopefully wouding the wrist enough to make the Hood let the weapon go. "Please! We don't want to fight!" Hideki cried out, his tone showing the desperation in his voice.

But then, he heard Miharu yell something as well, and when he turned, he felt a chill on his spine. Miharu was on the floor, pieces of glass scattered around it, as she winced in pain, and the Hoods approaching her. Not only that, but in the distance, a small van appeared, with a few people with the same outfits as the Hoods coming out of it. Maybe it was the effect of the Sukukaja, maybe it was the sheer adrenaline beginning to take effect, but for a moment, everything was slower, as he took in the scene, feeling a knot in his stomach.

They needed to do something. He needed to do something. "YOU NEED TO DESTROY THEM, BOY!"

Hideki needed to do something in order to avoid more bloodshed, or at the very least, buy him and Miharu some time, but what could he do? He observed the hook in his hand, and it was then when he had an idea. Ignoring the Hood he was fighting, he ran towards Miharu, and holding the hook high, he imbued the blade with Hama. "Cover yourself!" And with a slight twist of his wrist, a huge flash appeared from the blade, looking as if it was reflecting light from somewhere.

This was meant to temporarely blind the Hoods, stunning them for a moment, so that Hideki could go ahead and pick up Miharu from the floor. "Senpai, we must go!" He said, and holding her in his arms, Hideki ran away from the group. If there was any Hood that recovered quick enough from the flashing, they'd notice that Hideki went to a nearby alley. And the Hoods from the van might also notice that, as the flash would be highly visible from anyone nearby.

The one with the burning length of wood stood above Miharu: a large man, with a possibly lethal (albeit improvised) weapon gripped in his gloved hands, menacing a small girl. He lunged forward, looking to jab the burning brand into her head or neck, but the blinding light Hideki produced caused him to stumble, turning his head away, and both of their targets were gone, dashing madly down the street.

The man dropped the wooden rod, it having grown too hot, and pulled out a knife.

One of the three Black Hoods approaching them stopped, and turned back, heading to the van.

The others -- five total, two further, and three closer -- took off running after them. They were almost universally taller and presumably stronger than Hideki, and unburdened. They, however, were not empowered by Sukukaja and most likely had less adrenaline coursing through them. Still, a small mob armed with knives, collapsible batons, (in one case) a bike chain with a heavy padlock attached to it as an improvised flail, were running after them.

Chirp. "Catch them. You're heading out of coverage."

Unable to stand, Miharu was in a vulnerable position. However, Hideki got in front of her and with his head of warning, managed to prevent herself from being blinded by the Hama spell. As he did this, she gritted her teeth and pulled out the bit of glass digging into her. She suppressed a small shriek and tried to stand up, but pain shot up her leg the moment she tried to.

Not that it mattered. Hideki quickly lifted Miharu up and was started rushing the two of them out of the area. Under normal circumstances Miharu would complain or even feel flustered, but special circumstances gave way to special exceptions.

Miharu noticed the Black Hoods following after them. With one arm slung around Hideki's neck, she leaned to get a better view of the Black Hoods behind Hideki and stretched out another hand to send another Garu spell from her hands to pull away another person.

"T-Tachibana-san, you can put me down! I think I can run!" she then said.

Just ahead, Hideki would see a figure wearing a rabbit mask atop its head carrying an oversized satchel walking perpendicular to their current direction and seemingly heading towards another alleyway.

When he woke up this morning, Hideki thought that it'd be just another normal day for him. Enjoying his free time given to him by the Golden Week, and later on heading to work at the Kaneshiro Metalworks, because Noriko probably needed someone to grump at or something, Hideki didn't know. He did not expect that he'd be carrying his upperclassman in his arms, as he tried to run for his life while a group of anti-Users were giving chase. This whole premised evoked a lot of things from him, one of them being surprise over actually managing to pick up someone.

Never believe Hideki isn't capable of picking up girls.

But strange emotions aside, Hideki knew that priority should be getting away as fast as possible. In an attempt to lose them, he made a sharp turn and headed to an alleyway, in order to confused the Hoods. As he ran, he felt how Miharu casted a Garu spell to strike the Hoods. He could only hope that'd manage to push them back a bit.

And then, when Miharu told him to put her down, Hideki noticed a strange figure nearby. The rabbit mask was something he saw before, and it wouldn't be until he reached the alleyway entrance, when he'd put Miharu down, leaning on a wall, and turn around. "Was that...?"

The garu managed to knock down the larger one in the lead, who had been menacing Miharu with the length of burning wood, and he stumbled. This proved to be enough to get them to slow down, but did not actually stop them. They were still slightly more than half a block back when Hideki juked down the alleyway, apparently relying on their enemies lacking such basic capabilities as object permanence. They gingerly approached the alleyway, looking down it from around cover, and then proceeded to remain in cover.

The van being used by the Black Hoods turned down the alleyway, brights on, and proceeded slowly. The other five quickly moved behind it, taking shelter in the moving cover that the vehicle provided.

Chirp. "Out of overwatch coverage. Moving to second location. T-minus thirty to resumption."

Tomoyo, who had been out of their enemy's "coverage" was distant enough that she hadn't been scanned, apparently, but would soon be within it and thus recognized as an enemy.

As Hideki turned towards an alleyway, Miharu too caught a glimpse of a cut-out rabbit mask and wispy white hair.

"That's...!"

Once Hideki put Miharu down, she looked at him and said, "Tachibana-san! That was Tomoyo-chan! We have to warn her! But first..."

Seeing Hideki's injury, she cast a Media over the two of them. She didn't know if it would heal Hideki completely of his wound but it was better than nothing.

"That hook got you pretty good. Can you manage? We have to get out of here but I need to warn Tomoyo first!"

She knew it was unwise to go back out again and scream their location to her former senior. What she did instead was pull out her phone and dialed.

Tomoyo had barely noticed Hideki and Miharu pass by her. Mostly because she had been looking down into her satchel to double-check her salvage. She hadn't expected her phone to ring and she pulled it out as she continued to walk in the territory Miharu and Hideki had just come from.

"Helloooo?" she said perkily. "Mi-tan is that you?"

"Tomoyo-san! There's no time to explain! You have to get out of there right now!"

"Huh? Out of where? I'm outside in--"

"I know! We just passed you! We were attacked by Black Hood members!"

Tomoyo's eyes widened and she stopped walking. "Wait, what!? Where are you? Are you hurt!?"

Tomoyo, surprised by what Miharu was saying, didn't bother to look ahead of her or notice that there were indeed people heading her way.

"Whaaaat? What is she doing here???" Hideki asked, cursing his misfortune of having another person too close to this threat. The way he worded made it seem like he didn't want to see her, and that was true and false: Tomoyo was pretty okay, but he definitely didn't want to see her now because that'd mean she'd be too close to the danger.

At least she was able to use her healing to cure his wounds. The small wounds that plagued his left arms were gone, but the gash at the side of his body barely changed. At least now it didn't bleed, but it still looked and felt pretty painful. "Ah, thanks Senpai." He said, before she noted the hook he was wielding. The thing still had blood, and it made Hideki feel uneasy. "I think so, I just need to be careful with it, don't wanna turn anyone into a cyclops." Despite the rather light hearted choice of words, Hideki was indeed too worried about causing too much damage to the Hoods. They were looking for blood, but he couldn't stick to their level, he merely wanted to incapacitate them somehow and keep Miharu safe.

But then, as Miharu was talking to Tomoyo, the alleyway lightened up literally, as Hideki saw that the van was blocking the entrance they came from, and was slowly moving towards them. He was tempted to running deeper into the alley, but with Tomoyo in the vicinity, he didn't want to move too far away from their location, or else they wouldn't be able to help her if she gets to close to the Hoods. However, he needed to do something about the approaching van.

He needed to find a way to stop it, and had the idea of burning the wheels, that way the burned rubbed would make it harder for it to be used. He wasn't completely sure if it'd stop the van, but he was willing to try. Summoning Agni, he casted Maragi, with the targets being each wheel.

The van moved further down the alleyway, idling forward at a speed somewhere between a brisk walk and a run. The driver apparently didn't know if Tomoyo was a valid target, and didn't just gun the engine to run them down, which probably saved the three. When the Maragi hit, two things happened: the tires burst and began to melt, though it proceeded forward for a meter or two anyway, the rims of its wheels grinding against the ground; second, something inside of the engine block burst, and a cloud of white smoke that smelled vaguely of burning plastic and rotting fish began to come up out of it as the radiator burst.

The five black hoods who had been using the van as coverage burst from behind it, coming through the fog of foul-smelling smoke like the monsters in a horror game. Two from either side, scrambling around garbage cans and misplaced cardboard boxes, the detritus that commonly filled alleyways in the parts of town where garbage service could be spotty.

One of them, shorter and gracile than the others, had been riding on the back bumper of the van and used her position to climb atop, running along the top of it and vaulting forward, landing in a dead run straight for Hideki, a switchblade held low in her left hand and her gloved right hand outstretched to grab him.

The driver opened the door after the others passed, climbing out into the narrow alley and almost rejoining the others before a message came through on the radio strapped to his chest. It also came from one of the other figures, who had been involved in the initial attack.

Chirp. The voice on the other end was breathing heavily. "T-minus twenty to coverage. Save the dash cam footage if something goes wrong."

Miharu had just given instructions as to where they were in hopes to get her out of harm's way, but it only turned out the hoods had found them using another route and were now at the end of the alleyway. Before Miharu could say anymore to Tomoyo, she gasped as the van started speeding towards them.

"Tachibana-san!" she shouted as he was closer to the van than she was. But he summoned Agni without hesitation and aimed at the van's wheels.

Smoke and the acrid smell of leather filled the air and Miharu almost choked on it. She summoned her own mask and placed it on her face, knowing that these guys were not going to just go away because of another light flash.

"Persona!" she shouted.

Her call summoned forth a tall, violet woman with long hair and a headdress covering the upper part of her face.

Seeing one of them heading towards Hideki, she cast a Garu nearby the assailant, hoping it would be enough to hurt him, but not severely injure him.

Miharu? Miharu! Tomoyo had been saying on the other side.

Perhaps he might have miscalculated something, because not only he managed to ruin the wheels, but the engine as well, causing a foul stench to invade the area. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to go to an alley, as the closed space caused the smell to linger for longer. Hideki couldn't help but do a small cough, when suddenly the Hoods emerged from the van, with one of them gunning for him.

However, Miharu's Garu attack managed to at least help clear the air, and with it targeting the Hood that was aiming for him, Hideki moved to a side to avoid his attack. He did notice that the attacker was wielding a switchblade, and given how they didn't seem like they'd just give up, he'd have to find a way to try and lower the danger they posed. He still held the hook as insurance, but casted a precise Hama attack aimed at the arm the Hood had the weapon. He came to understand that, while his light spell was similar to his fire spell, he felt it would at least caused second degree burns plus any other effect the Hama would have on them, instead of pretty obvious third degree burns.

"Senpai, I can hear Tomoyo-san! We must make sure she's not harmed!"
