Post By: C0ff3eGrrlDate: 2014-XX-05 at 20:10 Bedlam staff, please at least sticky-post this post, kthx, but I've got a proposition for y'all from someone who's both a veteran and someone who's spent a while in the newbie-waiting-around-for-the-oldbies-to-get-stuff-done camp. Anyway, hi! You might have noticed Bedlam isn't the safe, happy-go-funtime 2chan alternative community that we've somehow turned our communications hub into over the past six-plus months. Used to be we could count on the whole "nobody but Persona-users can enter the ruins" clause for the most part. But now we've got Black Hood semi-defectors, we've got old enemies getting their hands on dropped phones, and NEED I REMIND YOU that the actual Black Hoods getting their hands on a phone that leads to Bedlam is still a very real possibility, here? I know there's only so much that coding improvements and a small handful of mods can do, so I'm not knocking the Bedlam staff for this. But we've gotten a little too comfortable with this setup, and I think that needs to change. Everyone, be really fucking careful what you post in the open. I'd also like to suggest that we arrange some kind of post-signup middle step to gain access to the sensitive stuff, so that yellow-eyed people, red-eyed edgelord attention-whores (ha), and anti-Persona-user vigilantes can't use our own message board against us. On the plus side, if you keep shitposting like a bunch of gibbering loons, it might just result in our enemies not taking us seriously enough to beat us when pinch comes to buttcheek, so by all means, keep on acting like this isn't a potentially world-ending situation we're dealing with, I don't mind. My BettyBombshell ruse was an explosive success at tricking Toru Watanabe into stealing tainted thermite, along with a few other gullible would-be edgy comic book superbads... and that was just me shitposting like a champ. So it's not like I've got a stick up my bum about shitposting. Much more interesting stuff goes in there, so I don't need a stick taking up space. I think that got away from me a little. Anyway, point is: keep on keeping on! Just keep the serious stuff in perspective, too. But I swear if anyone shitposts in this thread of all threads I will stuff them into a fucking circus cannon and fire them into the fucking sun. Anyway, yeah! My big worry right now is that limiting things to PM-only planning would lead to our community being super-fragmented and cliquish (even more than it is now?? is that possible???), so that middle step is something I really think we should figure out. Open to suggestions, here! The floor is yours, and now is the time to step up. Especially y'all who haven't had much of a say until now! Keep it civil and check your grievances with other Persona-users at the door. People who use this as a battleground to rag on whoever they don't think is doing enough will be stuffed into the same same cannon at the shitposters. I'm gonna get to bed; please don't make me regret everything about my life that brought me to this point when I wake up~ <3

Does everything have to be about sex with you? It's absolutely exhausting.

The only thing I could think of is making a separate, password protected board for the serious stuff. In light of Miss Yellow proving how potentially easy it would be to access an account, I would also suggest perhaps limiting the sharing of said password to strictly irl contact. Persona users meeting each other in person more often might actually do us a load of good. Less snarking at each other through computer screens, more making real connections through interpersonal contact... that sounded really confrontational, I'm sorry about that.
Also, definitely less sharing of real names on Bedlam.

I will happily buy the poster who uses the "SmileAMillion" account a new phone if we sweep this all under the rug. We have enough trouble keeping the Black Hoods from getting access to this board that I believe it is a major mistake to enable one of our principle antagonists to access our communication hub.
Note: I do not feel any of the humanoid shadows are individuals we should seek to communicate with before we can do so from a position of strength, and given the gap in capability that might take some time.

I struggled with the idea of limiting it to word-of-mouth previously, and I am categorically against it. We need Bedlam to be open enough to scoop up as many new users as possible so that we don't have the shit show we used to have.
Seems to me that a lot of you might be ignorant of how things were before Bedlam: it was bad. We're not going back to that.
One thing I can think of is maybe we should create more user categories and compulsory tagging on posts. If we are going to give the monsters access to our secret clubhouse, I want better locks on things. So my thought would be to set up "User" and "Trusted User" categories, where Trusted Users have to be upgraded by hand by Bedlam staff, and are primarily limited to those who are able to complete such difficult tasks as knowing to hold on to their phones and logging out of Bedlam when they're done and not saving their fucking password in their browser.
One of the primary requirements for this will also be not using a VPN.
The difference in these categories will be that certain tags will only be visible to Trusted Users, and we use those to discuss strategy and tactics.

Hey, I just posted a thing in Charinko's PSA, and I realized after I did that it wasn't something I knew how to do. If there's broad community support for it, do you think it'd be possible?

I feel singled out by that last comment.
But yes, you should probably control your information more tightly. A total blackout would probably be a bad idea, though. As soon as you cut her off she'll start looking for another way in, and she'll find one, and you won't know where the leak is.

Ah, Shin, Shin, Shin. A position of strength? Have you even had to find information for a case without revealing that you're a police officer beforehand? Sometimes relinquishing your "position of strength" or not having one in the first place can become a means of strength all its own, if you're smart about it. But maybe that's just my inner busybody talking, here. That's a topic for another day, maybe. I have thoughts on this, but they're kind of beside the point of "we should just generally figure out a better way to handle this," really.
Now that it isn't the asscrack of sleeping hours, does anyone have any thoughts for the tip jar?
@BackInBlack:
I don't count you as a real leak or threat, since newly-awakened Persona-users finding the website through the graffiti in the ruins, and you ending up here, is just the system acting as it was intended to. You know, lessening the chances of Persona-users stumbling out into the world with literally no idea what they're doing (or needing to resort to using crude, improvised weapons on deadly psychological monster-abominations). I feel like I've done a little too much acting-on-my-own to really push against the VPN problem, though. The truth is we've had a number of criminal-type people surface on Bedlam and taking measures against VPNs and other concealment methods would really save us some headaches. Our sole saving grace so far is that most of these specific criminally-inclined Persona-users have been, putting it politely, complete fucking idiots.
