As Ren continued to pick up the coffee, he looked at how many had become dented. It was good that none of them had been blown open, but it still meant that everything looked weird, broken... yet functional.

You are not broken the way you believe you are.

Huh? What's that mean?

You know what it means.

Ren sighed, trying to tune out Aesop once more. Sometimes, he wished for there to be no interpretation needed. (Aesop made an annoyed sound at this). That line of thought was filed away when the instigator spoke up. Looking about the aisle, he saw that the cans were all up again, barring the one he was holding. "Oh, don't be, it's nothing," Ren started. "I've been kind of out of it too." He sighed briefly before speaking up again. "I'm not being held up. Well, I might be, but not by you." He turned his head around back down the aisle. Sure enough, his father was there, amused smile on his face, but also neutral. He wasn't tapping his foot yet, so at least there was some time.

Chisato touched her head.

"Right, right, I see," she muttered absently. She noticed Ren turn towards a man who was nearby. "Oh, you're with your parents? I take it you have to leave then? Anyways, I suppose I should lug this towards the cashier."

Chisato felt embarrassed. And out of sorts. Usually, she'd find a way to regain her composure, but right now she was just out of it. She was tired, too. She sighed and with slumped shoulders started inching away. Before she did, she looked at Tachibana.

"You said you're doing groceries, right, Tachibana?" she asked. "So you don't carry too much stuff, you can put your stuff in the cart for now. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure what's mine and wouldn't get it mixed up."

"Haha, actually I just got started with my groceries. I still got a lot of stuff to carry." He said, his laugh still not changing it's tone. However, he couldn't help but notice that Chisato has been looking rather strange, almost as if she felt blue for some reason. Maybe it was the same of looking clumsy in front of a stranger? He wasn't aware, but he thought of something to help her.

"Hey, uh, C-Chisato-san, you do seem a bit, you know, out of it. Do you wanna accompany me before you check out? Perhaps it can help you feel more at ease." He offered, not aware of whether Chisato had business to attend to after her shopping. He wasn't aware of what the other guy was gonna do, but if he wanted to join, Hideki wouldn't mind. He seemed friendly enough.

Chisato seemed a little startled by the offer and looked to the side stiffly.

"Hm? Why would I feel at unease? I'm not uneasy," she said hastily while rubbing her arm. "I've just been...woolgathering, that's all. Though I guess I can stick around and we can head out together. We can stakeout for shorter lines for more convenience that way."

"Hmm~hmm~Omoide nante iranai yooooooo~!" an upbeat voice was singing at the top of its lungs just a few shelves away.

A silvery-haired girl with her own cart in an oversized pink woolen sweater with a large heart on it was being scandalously loud as she practically knocked over boxes of sweets and cookies into her cart.

"Datte ima tsuyoku, fukaku aishiteru karaaaaa...!"

The girl was, to say the least, one of the weirder people in the supermarket. Aside from her choice of clothing, she wore a rather kitschy cut-out rabbit mask on the top of her head as if it were a visor. She also had earphones on and it suddenly made sense as to why she was singing so ridiculously loud albeit impressively in tune.

The singing, off course, did not fall on deaf ears. As tightly wound Chisato was, she pretty much jumped at the loud singing and looked around warily.

"W-what on earth was that!?" she said.

It wasn't long before her eyes fell on Tomoyo and she looked in surprise. In denial, she cleaned her glasses and looked again.

"Oh, you got to be kidding me..." she muttered in exasperation. "Why does Sonozaki-san have to be hear of all days?"

But the real question was, why would Tomoyo Sonozaki not be here of all days. It was Golden Week, for crying out loud! A long and legit weekend where she could roam around and it meant she wasn't skipping school! Also, the call for sweets was too strong for her stomach and it was a cry for justice that needed to be met.

Tomoyo was perkily oblivious of Chisato or Hideki, mostly due to her outrageous singing and the fact she was carting towards Ren and his father. She had been casually passing by, but she stopped and quickly carted over while waving frantically.

"Oh, um! Excuse me!" she said. "Sorry if I'm interrupting, but I can't seem to locate the dairy aisle. Could you point me to the right direction?"

Tomoyo's voice was upbeat of course and her expression friendly. She had asked Ren's father, but she also glanced at him in acknowledgement and grinned.

"My mother's going to kill me if she finds out that I finished a whole jug of milk this morning and I need replace it pronto!"

Ren observed the conversation going on between the two fellow teenagers. They were clearly near his age, but they also seemed completely... normal. A friend noticing that another friend was not feeling well was refreshing after yesterday's rush to deal with a definitely not-normal threat (To more than just me, he mused silently). A small smile, with no faking behind it, emerged, leaving him looking rather amused. Of course, the girl probably didn't want another stranger hanging around anymore, and when the other guy asked if Ren wanted to come along, he shook his head. "No, I think I'll be alright," he said. "Good luck with findin-"

Ren stopped as someone was singing out loud. Thinking back, he swore he heard the very same lyrics blasting out of another store in Tanjiro earlier, but that could very well have just been his imagination. He did end up raising an eyebrow at how one of them freaked out at the sound of something... and at that something heading their way. Turning around, he gave a confused look as the singer was identified as Sonozaki. Taking a few moments to snap out of the distracting sight and sound, he turned back towards the other two with a questioning look on his face. "What's the story behind her?... Should I ask the story behind her?" he questioned aloud.

Mr. Taira, meanwhile, had turned to look at the singer. Offering an expression that could only be succinctly described as 'this kid is really happy-go-lucky', he crossed his arms as she reacted with energy, listening to her request for directions.

"The dairy? That's in the back right corner of the store, assuming your map of it is top-down with the entrance at the bottom," he said. He let out a small smile of either amusement or humor as she went into her explanation for being there. "Still, this begs the question of why you drank it all in the first place. And I don't believe your mother will truly be angry if you're taking the time to fix your mistake... though I'm not so sure about the other things on your shopping list." He turned his head towards her cart, looking at all the sweets and cookies that potentially held the recipe to early age diabetes.

Well, that was the problem. Why would the serious and spooky Chisato Misaki be acting absentmindlessly in the middle of a supermarket? It made no sense for someone like her, or at least, that's what Hideki thought. Did her sudden move was related to something like that? Perhaps she saw a fly pass by and got scared in the middle of contemplating her navel.

But at least she accepted, which was good. The stranger wasn't going to accompany them, but still, she was the objective. "Ah, sure! Okay, the next thing I have in my list is..." He said, as he turned to reach the list that was currently located on the bottom of his cart, next to the coffee. However, out of nowhere, he heard the sound of someone singing rather loudly. Despite not being able to hear the melody of the song, the voice itself was doing a surprising job in sounding rather well.

Was fate taunting him again over his bad singing voice?

However, he then recognized the voice, and as he looked up, he discovered that it was Tomoyo, in an attire that screamed 'cute' so much, it'd leave someone deaf. Chisato expressed disappointment over having Tomoyo around, and the stranger wondered who was the girl that was asking something to his dad. "Ah, you don't need to worry. That's Tomoyo Sonozaki, and she's very..." He starting, trailing off as he thought of a proper adjective to use. "Peppy."

"Too peppy for everyone else's own good," Chisato said mostly to herself and mostly because if she had to deal with Tomoyo today, it would be a migraine.

Personally, Chisato didn't have anything against her former senior and now batch mate. It was more of that people such as Tomoyo managed to drain her energy out pretty fast. Perhaps it was her outgoing nature or her loud voice or maybe, just maybe, the fact that she had the tendency to drag people around all over town and literally tire them out.

Tomoyo was still rather oblivious to the fact Hideki and Chisato were talking about her to Ren in literal earshot. She was too busy sheepishly scratching her head and grinning at Ren's father.

"Well, you see, I can't eat Oreos without milk and when you have ten boxes of Oreos, you just need to finish a whole milk jug. It's the perfect oreo-to-milk ratio!" she said. And when Ren's father showed concern about the nutritional value of her cart, Tomoyo's chest swelled with pride. "Oh, don't you worry, sir! I burn sugar down faster than wildfires burn plains in the Sahara! That said, thank you so much for your help and--Oh! Hideki-san! Chisato-san! Yoohoo~! What brings you all here? You're all shopping, too? We should all shop together!"

Chisato couldn't hide her dismay and covered her mouth as she yelped, "Gah! Our cover's blown!"

"Peppy?" Ren stated, raising his eyebrows questioningly. A moment later however, the newly dubbed Sonozaki spoke up towards his father. As she rambled on about Oreos, Ren turned towards the other two. "Oh, I see... alright then, if you don't want to bother with someone a bit weird today, I think I get that. Let's just-"

He never got to finish his sentence. Sonozaki had noticed the group, and had excitedly called out to them. Ren looked towards her, flinching a bit at her reaction. "Ehm, greetings! Sonozaki... san," he offered, before offering a bow to her.

Mr. Taira, in comparison, held fast to his demeanor, offering a simple smile that didn't betray much beside his mood, though he let his arms fall to his sides, having deemed to un-cross them. Choosing that moment as opportune a time as any, he walked over to his son, looking over the other teenagers close to his age. "Hello," he stated. "I trust everything is going well?" he asked to the whole group. He gave a glance to Ren, who stayed silent. He knew what that look usually meant.

Stop and wait, please.

As the exchange between Tomoyo and Ren's father, Hideki stretched the collar of his shirt slightly, as he saw the girl talk about Oreos and the oreo-to-milk ration. It was pretty clear that Chisato would be exasperated if she were to deal with her. But it seemed that fate felt that'd be the best way to spice up this shopping adventure, because Tomoyo would eventually realize their presence.

"Oh boy..." He thought, as Chisato communicated her displeasure. Technically he didn't mind Tomoyo, she was pretty neat, the thing is that, with Chisato next to him, this would become an explosive combination. Of course, it'd be rude to ignore her, so he merely waved at her. "H-Hey there, Tomoyo-san, how are you doing?" He tried to remain composed, and then Ren's dad came, with a question that felt more like him interrogating the teens. "Ah, good day sir." Hideki greeted him, doing a bow.

"Hey...Sonozaki-san..." Chisato said a tad too wearily.

Not that Tomoyo noticed. The bunny-mask wearing girl was all smiles as she approached everyone giddily with her cart of godforsaken cookies and treats.

"Hey, guys! Fancy seeing you all here! In the market for biscuits and treats, too?" she asked rather perkily.

"More like I was in the market for peace and quiet, but apparently that's out of stock..." Chisato grumbled in a low voice.

"Peas and what now?"

Chisato massaged her forehead and waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, nothing important," she said bluntly.

It took awhile for Tomoyo to process it, but a third person had greeted her as well. Seeing Ren, she perked up even more.

"Oh! And who might this be?" she said. She extended a sleeve-covered hand to Ren. "Hi! I'm Sonozaki, Tomoyo, but you can just call me Tomoyo. I'm not really one for formalities."

Chisato managed to calm herself as Tomoyo had miraculously diverted her energy in greeting Ren instead of bothering her. This gave her the time to notice the man approaching them who seemed to be acquainted with Ren.

"Erm, um, good day," she said politely bowing.
