Now, one would think that being and living as Chisato Misaki would mean every day was pretty bad, but the past few weeks had been especially rotten for her. She would have thought Akari being found was a good thing--and of course, it was--but the revelations that came along with it had caused her a lot of hurt and feelings of being betrayed. Or perhaps you were overestimating what your relationships meant, she thought to herself. Would I really expect her to come to me if she wanted to run away? Did I really expect Satoru not to lie to me, either? She stopped walking for a moment and snorted in frustration. "It's fine," she told herself calmly. "They're the ones who were being idiots. Not you. Just...just get on with your damn errands." She trudged forward again and was now entering the Tanjiro supermarket. It was a weekend and she was expecting her father to be home (for once), and so her mother wanted to cook something up special. That said, they were out of a lot of things and she needed to resupply. Wearing a black sweater, a gray skirt, and plain black shoes and stockings, the only color that stood out about her was a peach coat and red hair clips that kept her bangs away from her forehead. Chisato took a cart and proceeded to read out her list, hoping errands would serve as a well-needed distraction. |

"Dear, you said we would save this conversation for the end of Golden Week." "Yes, but that doesn't mean we can have him- oh, I don't... urgh. We shouldn't have come here." "... I'm sorry that we did, but you and Ren both know well that it was either go here, or search for a new job and probably fail. Trust me, I probably miss Okinawa more than anyone." "You weren't born there." "Exactly. I got to look it over from an outsider's perspective. It wasn't my home, but I wanted it to be. And I still do." "... Mom? Dad?" "... Um, give us a minute, Ren! We'll be out soon!" Ren's half-asleep form, which had been trying to eavesdrop on his parents, took a moment before it registered exactly the implications of what his parents meant by that request. He turned towards his room, walking into it quickly. He shut the door perhaps a tad loudly, before making a noise that wasn't enough to get the image out of his mind. Such is only natural, Aesop commented, the sound of a gulp being taken somewhere coming from Ren's head. No it's not! Ren shot back. He had snuck out last night to check Bedlam, and was feeling scared. He knew that his parents were going out somewhere with him today, but he didn't know where they were going or why he didn't pay attention last night during dinner. But it was clear this was going to be something all three of them were going to do. And while part of Ren did like the idea of spending time with his father, another part absolutely didn't want to be near his parents at all, no thanks to Aesop (who seemed to make some sort of growling noise at that line of thought). As it turned out, the three were going grocery shopping together. They had run out of food at home, and after Mr. Taira had brought home dinner for once (albeit an hour late), it was clear it was time to go shopping again. The bus trip to Tanjiro was uneventful, but Ren hurriedly made his way through Tanjiro, his parents giving him odd looks as they picked up the pace to keep up. Ren could only hope that what they were suspecting of him was innocent enough (relatively speaking), and that Reika Kurenai would not be around to harass him today. Then again, there was a part of him that was unsure. The only people that Ren knew he could be honest with now were other users (lest a Black Hood decided to murder him), and it was a thought that made sure worry mixed in with his scared facial features. And so it came to pass that eventually, all three were browsing the aisles at Tanjiro's grocery store, Mrs. Taira putting on an all-too-familiar grimace as she looked at how much Yen pork cost. "How is it Honshu has it pricier than Okinawa?" she stated, looking all too displeased. "Well, it's kind of complicated, but maybe there's a fish that works as a good substitute?" Mr. Taira was speaking to his wife, the two debating. "What kind of fish tastes like pork?" She asked. "I think I have some ideas," Mr. Taira offered. Ren tuned out his parents once more though, trying to look about. A debate about what to do over pork was not something he was happy with, but then again, having to wait until the foreseeable future was not something he was coping with well. He kept trying to focus on what he was looking for, but far too often, he was standing, there eyes closed. But eventually, he saw that an aisle had a sign for a drink so delicious, and so addicting, that it was the only reason he was able to function during the day. "Ehm, Mom, Dad, can I go get some coffee?" Ren asked meekly. Both parents gave him a "Yes" at the same time, and Ren walked away, moving past a lady that had stopped to try and figure out what they were saying (the Okinawa dialect was making it nigh-impossible to understand, and creating a comical scene). The drinks aisle had plenty of canned drinks. And at the opposite end, closer to the store entrance, was coffee. |

It had been only by chance that Chisato had stopped by the line of canned coffee drinks around the time Ren would arrive with her cart blocking reach to the rest of them. Usually, she wouldn't be so preoccupied, but today was a different matter. So far her grocery cart was filled with green leafs, a few squashes, meat, two jugs of milk, and some grains. She had stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of coffee, not because she was really into canned coffee, but because coffee reminded her of cafes, which in turn reminded her that Satoru was calling and leaving messages that he totally understood if he was annoyed at her but if she would please just pick up or talk to him at the cafe and that reminded her of Akari and how they used to hang at cafes and Akari would always order affogato because she liked things sweet and also bitter, and Chisato was feeling more bitter than anything right now and-- "GOD-FREAKING DAMMIT!" Chisato growled out out of nowhere. Her far-off gaze and lax posture almost seemed like it had jolted back to life and without warning she waved an arm and tossed several cans clean from the shelves before staring at them with murder in her eyes and breathing heavily. Now, a normal Chisato would have never done this. One, Chisato did not give into her emotions. Two, Chisato knew better than to make a public scene. Three, these coffee cans were the least deserving of whatever wrath Chisato had just unleashed by now, oh what poor coffee cans. Realizing her mistake, Chisato blinked and gasped. "Oh, crap," she said before stooping down. She cautiously looked around to see if anyone had witnessed her little outburst. |

"Okay, lets see..." Just a moment before the impending outburst, near the aisle Chisato and Ren would stumble upon, there was another User who was in the middle of doing some groceries. Said User being none other than Hideki Tachibana, who has carrying a list of things to buy with one hand, and with the other, he was pushing a cart filled with nothing. He just arrived to the supermarket with the intent to restock his family's supplies, and given how his father was too busy trying to get inspiration to write (as in, doing nothing), it fell on Hideki's shoulders to do the groceries. Although, he didn't really mind doing them, considering it was always him the one doing so, considering his mom was always working, and his dad always loitering around the house. There were times in which he'd notice the lack of supplies in his home, and would offer himself to buy them, but this wasn't one of those times. He was requested to go shopping, and shopping he was. "First thing I'll get will be... Coffee." Hideki had a vague idea of where they were located, and with a very distracted look, he walked into the aisle, just as soon as Chisato decided to express her apparent anger by tossing random cans. Such an unexpected move caused Hideki to drop the list in his cart, letting out a loud gasp of surprise. He'd grow more surprised however, when he realized the list was hiding a person, and now that it was down, he could see it was... "C-C-Chisato-san??" He asked, a tone of fear in his voice. "W-What happened?? Are you okay??" It was pretty unexpected to see her emote in this manner, considering how he viewed her as a scary, but collected person. And now she was just scary. |

Ren began walking down swiftly, eager to get to his coffee. Maybe it was because of his current situation and fears, but he was coming to rely on coffee more and more. While it wasn't as bad as a full-blown addiction (though deep down, Ren admitted it was likely part of it), he knew that subconsciously, coffee meant that it represented something that wouldn't result in trouble, or problems, or a crisis or two. Coffee, for lack of a better word, was safe. So as his skittish, unhappy, and worried face got closer to the coffee, it was safe to say that when someone swore out loud to let go of their frustrations, he paused and looked defeated. But then the source of the outburst looked around, first at him, then another person. When her gaze fell on Ren, his face became an awkward mishmash of uncertainty and begging for mercy. "Um...." he stated meekly, reflexively rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand. Then the third party spoke to her, calling her Chisato. By all accounts, he sounded worried about his acquaintance. Mulling over it, Ren pretended to be ignoring the newly-named Chisato, looking at the aisle and slowly walking down. Perhaps it would be enough for him to nonchalantly get his coffee, and then rush back to his parents? |

As Chisato had feared, someone had seen her. Some weird dude that appeared to be walking her way. Surprisingly, she did not make her reflexive "get lost" glare, but rather flushed in embarrassment. She was about to duck her head and fumble some more with the cans until had a suddenly exclamation from Hideki caused her to jolt and almost hiss, even. "Gah! Tachibana, you scared me!" she said in a snappy, but also genuinely frightened manner. When he asked if she was alright, she massaged her head as she gathered up the cans. "I'm...ugh, I'm fine," she muttered. "My arm just suddenly jerked that's all. Must be a pinched nerve or something. What are you doing here?" The question was far more interrogative rather than polite. As she was putting her coffee cans back, she realized her cart was in the way most of the other cans and the guy from earlier was trying to reach some. "A-ah, sorry," she said stiffly. "I should get that out of your way." With pursed lips, she yanked the cart back but she somehow managed to steer it in the wrong direction and it instead hit the shelf squarely and knocked over even more cans. "Oh, for fuck's sakes!" she blurted as she clutched the sides of her head. |

The jolt and expression Chisato used however, surprised Hideki even more. "Whaaa? You scared me!" He said, wondering if she was just messing with him, or if she was actually caught off guard by him. But then as she began putting the cans back, Hideki went down to give her a hand, as she mentioned how she was seemingly okay. "Oh man, that doesn't sound good. You should have that checked out." He said, as she suddenly pointed her guns at him. "O-Oh, ah, I was just doing some groceries!" It was kinda hard to not be afraid when she was crossed. But then, as he placed the last few cans back in their shelves, Hideki was distracted for a moment, and wasn't able to see how Chisato's cart caused more cans to fall, the combination of the constant clanking and Chisato's exclamation causing him to let out another gasp of surprise. "Oh no!" He said, looking at the other cans on the floor. Going down again to pick them up, he looked at the third person that was close to them, and said "Hey, uum... Can you give me a hand?" |

Clearly, Ren was not the only one who's day had gone off to a bad start. Granted, the klutz's problems were far more likely to be mundane, but Ren was taking what he could get. Despite this deep, buried feeling however, Ren also felt for the most part sympathy. So when the other guy spoke to him, Ren blinked, snapping out of his retreat into thought. "Ah, sure!" he started, trying to use this normal moment to forget briefly everything that was worrying him. He walked towards the coffee cans on the floor, and bending down on his knees, he gathered as much as he could. "I was actually going to get some of these anyways." Though his voice sounded weary, it was akin to someone who had a long night yesterday and ahead of them, and sounded friendly enough. His Tokyo dialect was masking all hint of being from Okinawa perfectly as well, a fact that Ren seemed to notice, if the fake smile he put on seemed to feel a tad more genuine. "The things we do for coffee," he commented nonchalantly. Perhaps he was forgetting his troubles? Not quite. Ren froze briefly as he held a bunch of cans, before sighing. One of these days, that loophole was going to close one way or another. |

Flustered and pretty much mortified, Chisato took a deep breath and steered the cart out of harm's way and helped pick up the cans, too. "I'm really, really sorry," she murmured to the stranger. "I'm...out of sorts, I guess. Anyways, thank you for the help. You too, Tachibana." Sighing, Chisato nimbly placed the cans back on the shelves and touched her forehead. "Oh, yes, the things we do for love---err, I mean coffee," she bumbled. She crossed her arms. "I'm sorry, I haven't held up the two of you, have I? It seems everyone's running errands eh?| |

It was indeed very strange seeing Chisato lose her cool like that, even if the cause of her problem was apparently an involuntary move. But at least, as they were putting the cans back in place, she sounded grateful enough for their action, which at least made Hideki be a bit less scared of her. "Ah, no worries Chisato-san! Helping is the least we can do, after all." Unlike Ren, his tone was more genuine, as the only thing Hideki was worried at the moment was just getting the wrong brand of coffee. Eventually, the task would be one, and the last can of coffee Hideki was holding went to his cart. This small moment of distraction caused him to not pick up Chisato's slip, but he did hear her correction. "Aha, yeah." His chuckle however, was still a pretty nervous one, due to being with a stranger, and Chisato. "Oh yeah, I'm doing a few groceries. But it's okay Chisato-san! I was planning on getting coffee anyway." |
