Being surrounded by books helped Haru to relax. The Nagashima library was always quiet, which gave them ample time to think things over, and they had a lot to think about. Their own and their sister's possible and probable deaths aside, they'd awoken to some kind of unfathomable power. Also, apparently the Greek god Apollo resided in their head now. That was sort of unnerving. They'd looked up a lot of information on Apollo a few days ago, and beyond some vague similarities, they only kind of understood why the god had chosen them... were they even chosen at all? Was that how this worked? Regardless, the biggest connection was that Suki's persona was Artemis, and since the two gods were siblings... Haru pursed their lips. Apollo was male, though, and Haru definitely wasn't? That was odd. Their persona had withheld comment, when asked. They sat at the front desk at the library, idly watching the few people in the building walk around or read. After a few quiet minutes, Haru got up to go take a walk. Someone else was watching front desk right now anyway, so they weren't really doing anything. They strolled through the aisles of the library, looking around for something interesting. |

Aiko however, was having a hard time at the library. She had originally arrived there to check out if they had any old film copies of classic stuff, but turned out just because it was a library it didn't meant they kept every old thing. They had some movies to rent, but they were really bad edutainment crap. So with no old film reels, no things to rent and a little over an hour until her next work shift started; she was stuck. "Gaaaaaaaaah..." She sighed as she hunched over in a sudden wellspring of over-exaggerated depression. "How did I let myself get trapped in this place... Nothing to show for my trouble, and surrounded by books I don't care about..." Sentenced to wander aimlessly through the storied (hah) of the library, Aiko couldn't think of anything to even do. She didn't exactly have a library card because she just used the school one in Taiyoutono. It was rare when she had to, but it worked. She couldn't exactly strike up a conversation with anyone because no-one looked familiar to her. The time it would have taken her to leave the library and try to find something to do would have eaten up any free time she had anyway, because as "luck" would have it nothing she cared about was around this part of town. "Might as well be stuck on a deserted island or something, geez..." Aiko scratched her cheek and let out another sigh as she cast her eyes over the place one more time. Had to be something, maybe even someone around that could possibly-"Wait... is that?" Looking around her eyes managed to catch... Haru! The person she had run into in the ruins with the crazy attitude sister. She barely knew them from anyone else among Persona users, but it was at least somebody recognizable. Aiko picked up her pace and walked over to Haru's side, giving them a slight wave as she did. "Yo. How's it going?" |

They found something interesting, or at least, something interesting found them. Haru blinked in confusion as Aiko walked over, not quite recognizing who she was. "Sorry, do I...?" A few moments of protracted recollection later, Haru snapped their fingers. "Oh! You're, uh... Waka... Wakawakashi-san?" They scratched their head, appearing to be having difficulty remembering Aiko's name. "Sorry, memory's still kinda fuzzy with, uh... all the stuff that happened." There really was a lot of stuff that happened. Haru gave Aiko a small smile. "Thanks for the help, back then, by the way." They bowed their head. "If you hadn't been there, I don't know what would have happened to Suki..." |

Aiko actually stopped and blinked at Haru as they tried to remember her name. Granted, she broke out into a grin and chuckle once Haru said something that was… completely wrong. “Nah, nah… ‘Wakabayashi’, close though! I know it can be kind of a mouthful at times. Just try growing up with it!” It was certainly a more pleasant way to start a conversation with someone she didn’t really know. Aiko hadn’t found not remembering her name offensive at all, in fact it was more of a great ice breaker between the two of them. “it’s good to see that you’ve managed to get back into the normal life without too much trouble. I mean you are working in a library so that’s not saying much…” she added sarcastically. How someone could love books enough to want to work at this place was… something Aiko just couldn’t get. She didn’t have anything against the idea of books in general or anything. She just couldn’t see how people could spend hours just looking at words on paper and have fun with it. Then again, maybe there’s people that just don’t dig movies. Weird people... Best stay away from those guys, kid. It’s like they say, ‘watch out for the quiet ones’. Ash spoke up. Yeah, no kidding. Especially quiet ones with Persona powers… That train of thought aside, Aiko shook her head and looked back to Haru. “I don’t know, I think your sister probably would have death-glared any other Shadow we would have run into in there. Still, good to hear she’s alright too. We can always use some extra help in our little clubhouse, y’know?” |

Haru pursed their lips. "Waka... Wakabayashi. Right. Got it." They committed the name to memory, nodding. Honestly, they only kind of remembered how they knew Aiko in the first place - they knew she'd helped Suki and that she'd been there at the end, but that was about it. The whole incident was still scrambled in their mind. Aiko's comment about libraries caught Haru off guard. "Uh." They blinked in confusion - they actually just didn't really know what she meant by that. "Thanks?" they eventually replied, shrugging the comment off. The conversation turned back to something Haru could parse more easily as Aiko mentioned Suki. Haru laughed, noding in agreement. "Eheh, maybe. She can do that." They paused, then asked, "Do you guys really need that much help? There seemed to be a lot of you..." |

“See? You got it! You kinda get a kind of cadence going once you’ve gotten the hang of it. Before you know it, you’ll be chanting it while you work or something to keep yourself at a decent pace.” Aiko blinked momentarily after she realized what she said. “I uh… may or may not do that at my own work. Maybe just keep that a secret between us, alright?” Well… That’s one hell of a way to break the ice here. Oh well, I don’t have any reason to be ashamed of it I guess. It still freakin’ works, that’s for sure! Although… It seemed that Aiko had confused Haru a bit with her comment about working in a library. Whoops. “Ah, don’t worry about it. Just having a little fun with you. Working in a place like this definitely isn’t something I could see myself doing is all. Waaaay too quiet for my tastes.” Sure the supermarket could get loud at times, but it was a kind of dissonant serenity that she found a little calming. Except the ding of the cash registers. That got annoying after a while. “Hey, maybe that’s a power she’ll pick up later down the line? These powers have a way of being kooky with how they work. Not exactly too hard to imagine your sister picking up some eye lasers or something in the future. Just give me a warning if she does though, okay? Just wanna be sure that I’m nowhere close when that comes out.” She elbowed Haru playfully after her little jest to send the point home that she really was joking. “But we uh… actually do need as many people as we can get. That place isn’t getting any safer, sad to say. So any extra firepower we can get? Really appreciated. Just make sure to take it at your own pace, alright?” |

After a moment's pause to digest the information that Aiko occasionally chanted her own last name at work, Haru eventually settled on a giggle as their reaction. It certainly was weird, but hey, life was kind of weird right now anyway. Haru was pretty sure they should just embrace it. "My lips are sealed," they said, smiling softly. They nodded at Aiko's explanation of their library comment. "Ahh, okay, got it." They then weren't really sure if Aiko was joking about the eye laser comment until they were elbowed playfully. Haru giggled, but their mind continued to wander - what if Suki did get eye lasers??? What would they do? Haru was pretty sure Suki might use them irresponsibly, but they would be super cool??? Once of Aiko's remarks about the ruins pulled Haru's attention away from eye lasers and back to the attention at hand. They blinked, thinking for a moment, then said, "I guess that place is dangerous, huh? And... random people keep getting pulled into it. So... huh. I never really thought about that before." A few more seconds of processing. Their eyes widened. "Oh, wow, that's really bad!" |

"Alright, good. It's good to have a few secrets every now and then, huh?" Aiko said with a hint of a grin. This Haru kid, they were alright. Probably a book nerd which was something Aiko was not, but otherwise alright. Giggly too, she didn't run into too many people that giggled. Not sure if that's a failing on my part at all... Sandra's giggled once though, that was pretty cut-Giiiiiiirl c'mon. No thinking about that. It was almost starting to get worse. There wasn't too many moments that went by in the day that Aiko didn't have at least a passing thought about Sandra. On one hand, it at least wasn't about how much she was afraid of breaking her friendship because of the party, but now it was... Just all kinds of thoughts. Lot of 'em about the two hanging out, all kinds of stuff. It started to worry her. Luckily Haru managed to distract her from dwelling. Good job, Haru. "Yeaaah, real dangerous. I mean I'm not saying it to try and scare you away from it, because if you want to get stronger the only real way is to keep going back there and using your persona. Still, I'm not going to lie and tell you that it's not a pretty bad place. Luckily we've got some senpais among us, they'll be sure to uh... lead us to victory or something, yeah!" She totally believed that, mmhmm. Max faith, totally possible. "Just remember to always have a ruins buddy, always have a scanner and a healer and uh... Be safe. Actually the most important thing, now that I think about it." |

A whole new picture was being painted in Haru's head about this persona user business. At first, they had assumed it was a group of people coming together to just figure things out and overcome trauma, but no, apparently they were actually just superheroes. Or at least, they were rescuing other people who had suffered the same fate. They nodded their head decisively: this was an important duty. "Of course I'll try and be safe," they said, brow furrowed in thought. "But I'll have to start going back eventually. Hopefully Suki agrees to it too..." They were staring into Aiko's face - she seemed distracted for some reason. What had she been thinking about? They didn't ask immediately - their perceptiveness tended to freak people out sometimes, especially those who didn't know them very well - but their mind was churning in the background. A moment of staring and thinking later, they asked, "There are healers? How does that work? And what do scanners do?" They were probably supposed to be a bit more quiet about these questions. |

As they talked, Aiko couldn’t help but notice that Haru seemed to be… studying her a bit? Mostly noticeable when she had to force herself to stop thinking about Sandra and-Oh god does this one have mind-reading powers? Do they know about- Aiko felt a bit of panic strike her heart at the thought, before the often ignored but equally important rational side of her mind decided to take control of the wheel for a second. C’mon girl, they don’t even really know you, they probably don’t know who Sandra-chan even is, and all I was doing was just thinking of her. It wasn’t like I was remembering my dream about- She blinked slightly as she realized that she was not helping her own case one bit. Her case… for a potential psychic persona user which was… Aiko pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a small sigh, banishing the slight blush her thoughts had caused. “Sorry if I seem a little weird, I’m kinda going through a lot of stuff at the moment. I’d be glad to explain some more of the finer things… Well the things that I understand, but maybe we should find some kind of more private place to talk?” She looked around the two of them, and even if the library wasn’t exactly packed, the overall quietness that the building garnered would have made their conversation even easier to pick up on. Thank goodness for rational brain deciding to pick up the slack… “There’s not some kind of… I dunno solitary confinement sort of place in the library for the people who really want things to be silent, is there? And if there’s not and that sounds like a stupid idea that never would happen… well then let’s pretend that I never suggested it, eh?” |
