"Oh, you should definitely give it a try, the rent shop I was going has a big selection, and they are pretty cheap too! I definitely recommend it." He said, sounding like he was some salesman doing some advertising. In a way, he felt like he should, since the service is so good, and rent shops were getting underappreciated lately. Can't people see the joy in having a physical VHS or disk? It really puzzled him.

In any case, Sanae and her friend came around, the latter introducing himself. "Ah, likewise. I am Hideki, Tachibana." He said, doing a small bow in return. It never was easy for him to introduce himself to strangers, but at least he knew he was in good company. "I'm been alright, yeah! No homework this time around, I just came here to relax. How about you? How have you been?"

"Bartholomew...?" That seemed to pique Yuki's interest. "That seems... American, or British... Do you mind me asking where you're from?" He asked while shaking Bart's hand. If there was a golden rule to social interactions, it was that people always loved to talk about themselves. Yuki knew this well, and he clung to the opportunity with tooth and nail.

At the mention of being a friend of Hideki, Sanae nodded with her trademarked sweet, inviting smile. "I would hope so, Mason-san." Friends were always a good thing. She liked to be on good terms with everyone and have some sort of common ground with them. Plus, Hideki seemed like a nice fellow! She would've loved to spend more time with him. The same was starting to go for this 'Bartholomew' person she was speaking to. She shook his hand after Yuki had let go of it.

Yuki couldn't help but feel relieved at the lack of name recognition as Sanae responded to Hideki. "I've been doing well! Busy, busy, but that's always a good thing, I think." Didn't look like anything could bring her mood down, it was as if she was glowing from just talking to her friends. "Yuki-san and I came here on a grocery run."

"Would you guys would like to head over to the food court?" Yuki suggested, picking up on Sanae's want of wanting to spend time with the two. "My treat."

Yes… I’d sell the souls of all humanity to the devil if I thought it’d get us a happy ending.
“Well I might have to give it a try then, Tachibana-san!” Bart said brightly. “It sounds like a pretty neat kind of place to spend some time!” He didn’t exactly have that much time for hobbies like that at the moment but… Well perhaps the future would prove to give him a bit more time! That was a thought that he’d have to repeat to himself as much as he could until it could come true before his very eyes.

Until then, he had the pleasant company of Yuki and Sanae to greet him and Hideki. He was already pretty happy to have someone return his handshake, let alone two people. But then Yuki’s question about the origin of his name caused his smile to grow wide. “Your second guess was spot-on! I’m actually originally from Britain, I’ve just been traveling around the world a little bit before I landed up here. It’s a pleasure to meet you both, truly!” Getting to meet the friend of friends was a fantastic way to be even friendlier to more people, and their meeting now sure was proving that belief of his right! They were both very pleasant people to talk with.

But also the talk of grocery shopping caught Bart’s interest as well. “Oh, you’re both chefs? How fantastic! I’ll have you know that I’m quite the cook myself, and I’d be glad to offer any advice or recipes that you might like!” He smiled down at Sanae and Yuki and nodded warmly at them. Even better than making two new friends was making two new friends that also liked to cook! They also seemed poised to invite them all to a lunch, and Bart sure couldn’t refuse an offer like that. “Well I’d be fine with that, how about you, Tachibana-san? Any place in particular that you guys would like to eat at as well?”

Of course, he wondered if Bart even had a medium to watch movies. Given how he was apparently always on the go, would he even have a VHS player? On second thought, perhaps he does, or else how would he review any of his experiences? After all, travelers tend to film their adventures.

But that wasn't here nor there, right now Sanae and Yuki were seemingly already getting along just fine, with Bart remarking how he was glad to meet two new cooking enthusiasm. And here's Hideki, barely able to set fire his own breakfast. "Busy? Oh man, and I'm just here to relax, hehe." What sort of things was Sanae doing that was keeping her busy? Maybe she got too many responsabilities like him? Who knows. But then, Yuki offered them to grab a bite at the food court, an offer that sit well with Hideki, and Bart too!

"Oh, I'm alright with it too!" He said, thinking of the last time he visited the food court. It wasn't a very pleasant time, not because of what happened there, but because of the mindset he was in when he arrived, even with Akeno and Toki's company. But perhaps now he'd enjoy it more wiht friendlier company.

Yuki's eyes widened slightly as Bart mentioned travelling all over the world, after which the boy broke into a small chuckle. "I have to say, I feel quite envious of that opportunity. I've done some travelling myself but never on such a grand scope." Perhaps he could some day organize a trip abroad for himself and his friends? Yuki certainly could afford such a ridiculous expense.

Sanae, however, could not. "Ah, you travel?" She had always wanted to visit another country and explore new cultures in general, but her economical status never permitted her such a thing. "Can you give us any examples of places you have visited? Any stories?" She seemed all too excited to hear them, at least.

Regarding the culinary talk, Sanae shook her head. "It's a hobby, at best. Ishinomori-san here is the one with any real talent." She looked at him. "You're majoring in it, right?"

"Hah, I'd hardly call it talent, but yes." He nodded. He did have a talent, but it was just a bad idea in general.

"Hideki-san, do you know any good place for us to eat in the food court?" Sanae asked the boy once Bart put that ball in their court. He was the common link after all, so perhaps he should decide; plus, she felt like the conversation was leaving him out a bit, so it was a good way to put the spotlight right back on him.

Bart chuckled and scratched the back of his head. “I suppose I’ve been quite lucky with the life I’ve had. Being able to travel the world is something I’ve learned not too many have had the opportunity to do quite yet. I really do have my family to thank for being able to do as much as I’ve done over the years!” But to the passerby that knew just what Bart has been up to in the past few days, it would have seemed that he sure had a hell of a way of showing his thanks… Sanae seemed to be quite enthused about hearing about his adventures, though! That certainly put Bart in a better mood.

“I’d love to, Miyamoto-san! Sharing my adventures over the years is something that I’ve always been glad to do. Let’s see… Well I was born in Britain like I said, then I went to live with my aunt and uncle in Russia for a few years, then off to Scotland, after that was Switzerland and Germany, and now I’m here! I have a ton of stories I’d like to tell, but perhaps when we’ve already sat down to enjoy our lunch. They’re the sort of stories that are best told with good food and company, after all!” Bart smiled brightly at his new acquaintances as they seemed to share an interest in his past, something that he was always glad to explain. Well, perhaps only the brighter part of it.

However, his own interest was piqued in the newcomers when he heard Sanae mention that Yuki was majoring in cooking. That seemed to be beyond a regular ol’ pastime! “There’s nothing wrong with it being a hobby at all, Miyamoto-san! As long as you have fun with it, that’s all that matters. But Ishinomori-san, are you really going to university to study cooking? That sounds fantastic! What’s that like? I’ve always wondered how one would exactly study cooking in an academic sense.” How would one be graded on cooking? I’ve only really judged it by if it tasted good for myself and others, but perhaps there’s some kind of standard? How curious!

Then the decision of where to eat fell upon Hideki’s shoulders, and Bart was waiting for his answer as well. Truth be told, he hadn’t spent too much time in the food court, always in the various restaurants that were in the shopping center. “Whatever you pick is bound to be fantastic, Tachibana-san!”

"Geez, so much traveling, what a way to make a guy feel bad." He said in a joke tone, doing a chuckle that was a bit unsure. He was pretty impressed with how Bart travelled around the world, and it evoked an slight feeling of proudness that he apparently chose Japan over other countries, given how it allower him to meet him, but even Yuki did traveling as well? He didn't know how much traveling he did, but if he said it was of a lesser scale than Bart, and Bart traveled around the world? He probably either means he just travels around the country, or he just didn't go beyong the continent.

When Sanae petitioned Bart for a story, Hideki merely stared at his and wondered what sort of tale he'd tell. But instead, he told them a very brief summary, and told them that to hear more, they'd need to get some lunch, a responsability that fell on Hideki's shoulders, much to his surprise. He has seen the food court many times before, but he never actually stayed there for lunch, or anything more than just a mere drink, and now he needed to choose a place for him and 3 people, two of which he barely knew? It was quite a tall order for him.

"Uuuuh..." He started, trying to think of a possible location. Perhaps for this occasion, given how he was in a group, maybe he should pick something more traditional? Something he'd be more than sure everyone tried at least once. "I think there's a ramen place in the food court, and I heard good things about it, maybe we can try it out!" He offered, looking at everyone to see their responses.

"It does involve some studying, it's not all practical." Yuki explained. "Besides kitchen work we have to learn things such as sanitation, the history of gastronomy, current trends, and we study in detail various types of food. This semester I'm learning more about stocks, sauces and soups, as well as breakfast foods in general." The second semester would have baking and pastries... His weakness, and Sanae's strength. Perhaps he should ask for a few lessons on the subject?

No matter. Something piqued his interest in Bart's travel history - all of the countries, except Japan, were a part of the Schengen agreement. "If you don't mind me asking, why Japan? Do you have family here?" Sanae, however, felt like it was none of her business, thus did not inquire further.

Instead, she grabbed her grocery bags. "Ramen sounds delightful, Tachibana-san." She told the boy, smiling from ear to ear. "Please, lead the way."

Bart laughed along with Hideki’s little joke. “Well I certainly didn’t want to try and make you feel bad about your own traveling habits, Tachibana-san. I’m very grateful for all the chances that I’ve had to travel so far, and I wish I’d been able to take a few of you along with me at times!” Moving to new homes always did have the slight downside of having to leave one’s friends behind after all. It was lucky that Bart was able to make friends so easily, at least in his own eyes. Hmm, perhaps I should try and write some letters back to the folks back in Europe, see how they’re doing. It’s been awhile since we’ve talked, I bet a lot has changed!

Hearing everything that Yuki was studying about cooking was extremely fascinating to him as well. Bart didn’t even know that there were schools that ever offered classes like those! “Well that certainly sounds fascinating, Ishinomori-san! Are you taking all of those classes so you can try and open up your own restaurant or something similar in the future? To be honest, I haven’t even considered about half of the things that you listed. Oh but yes! I have an aunt and uncle that are… taking me in while I live here in Japan. I’m very grateful for them as well!”

Bringing up his current family situation seemed to be in rather poor taste with these two people that he just met. He wasn’t even sure it was wise to bring up his visiting Cousin Angus either, considering what transpired last time they met. Either way, Bart wasn’t about to let his cheery demeanor fall. He was still raring to give Sanae and Yuki a great first impression of himself! It even seemed that Hideki had figured out a place for them to eat. Who had time to worry about silly ol’ family problems with much more fun things being ahead of them?

“That sounds fantastic, Tachibana-san! I haven’t had too much ramen while I’ve lived here, so I’m always willing to try more!” Bart nodded happily at his friend as they got all ready to follow Hideki to their destination. “I’m right behind you!”

"Hehe, don't worry Bart-san, I don't mind having my feet planted on the ground. Besides, even if I could afford it, there are so many places in the world, I can't even begin to think where I'd go." Then again, he wouldn't mind visiting spain at least once, considering his mother's dad comes from there, and he always spoke fondly of it. It might be complicated though, due to the costs and the different language.

He was listening to Yuki's words about the intricacies of studying how to cook, but when Bart replied and made a passing comment about his family, Hideki turned to Bart to eye him. He still seemed cheery as normal, but was 'normal' the right word to apply to Bart? He still didn't want to believe what happened to him, and want to see if Bart could even remotely be innocent of the incident. However, he didn't notice anything out of place, so Hideki again chalked it up to Bart being innocent of this, completely unaware that Bart could easily be faking this.

But what did he know, he wasn't Yuu.

However, he snapped back to reality when Sanae and Bart agreed with Hideki's choice. "Oh, ah, right! Here, I think it's this way." He said, and began walking towards the food court, motioning the group to follow him.
