Which would turn out to be the exact wrong thing to say to Atsuko. Her breath caught in her throat, and she looked frightened for a moment. He's one of them. One of the monsters, she thought. So many these days were. She glanced over, maybe he had to keep his cover? Maybe his mother was unaware? She could try to play that up. She gasped, convincingly, and put a shocked expression on her face before stepping back. Loud enough that the boy's mother would hear and hopefully interpret it as her son having said something lewd to the cashier. She stepped back, and continued acting: looking offended and confused by the boy's words, and then hastily walking to the stock room, which she was technically not supposed to go into for longer than a minute while customers were present, and shut the door behind her. Drill took over, and she began to plot escape routes. There were tunnels behind most of the shops for stocking. She could probably break into those? Rumor had it that some kind of terrorist or killer had been using them to hide, but she thought they had caught him last year. It was probably perfectly safe. |

... Well then. If only I had used this strategy on satyrs. Aesop was decidedly detached on the matter, somewhat amused by the outcome. Meanwhile, Ren was not sharing the same views as his Persona. His fellow conversant had shown abject terror. It was another smack in the face to Ren, a mirror of himself when the fight-or-flight instinct took over his actions. A sinking feeling formed in the pit of his stomach, and worry graced his features. That only increased further when she stepped back, shocked. She then very animatedly appeared hurt, and marched through a doorway (perhaps the kitchens?). Mrs. Taira had been too far away to actually hear anything. Where her ears failed though, her eyes succeeded. A very displeased look came across her face. She grabbed her purse, got up from the table, and marched over to her son. Kidnapping or not, you don't treat someone like that! Her expression changed as she walked over. Starting from someone ready to discipline, it morphed into realization, followed by one of the most horrifying revelations someone could have in a public place. Her son had been right. It was the sauce. She grabbed Ren by his left arm with her own. "We'll talk in a few minutes. I need to use the restroom." Her tone was of someone waiting to lash out with a metaphorical whip, and one many people watching would recognize as incoming discipline. Ren himself looked as if he was about to be kicked into a deep, open well, and helplessly was dragged along. Magnificent exterior form, don't you think? Aesop commented, looking at one of the gawkers in the coffee shop. Ren sighed. At least he could get in a few more minutes of going over notes while his mother dealt with the wrath of the sauce... if Aesop would stop ogling for a few minutes. |
