If Kaji noticed Yoshirou's reaction, he didn't say anything. He stood there quietly, waiting for the next question, assuming there would be one. It came quickly and was simple enough; Kaji nodded his head and replied, "Yes. I recently moved back in with my mother." |

They had been sweeping now for quite a while. With two of them, they were almost done with the cobbled walkway. 'That must be nice,' Yoshirou responded. 'No father? Maybe siblings?' |

Kaji was starting to become more acquainted with the broom. From the looks of it, the front of the temple would be clean in short order. This time, it was Kaji's turn to falter at Yoshirou's words. He stopped mid-sweep, staring down at the ground. "No," he said simply, leaving it at that. |

The last question had a visible effect on Kaji. That seemed like the best place to start. Yoshirou stopped sweeping as well and lightly leaned on his broom, looking at Kaji. 'I see. I'm sorry to hear that. Would you like to talk about it? We're almost done out here. We could step into the temple and discuss it over tea.' |

No, Kaji thought, not particularly. "... If you insist," was the answer that Kaji came to. He continued sweeping, eyes down, expression tense. Even if he didn't want to, maybe he had to. Maybe it would help, somehow. He waited for the two of them to finish sweeping before looking over at Yoshirou, waiting for the monk to speak first. |

Yoshirou nodded as the young man's demeanor completely changed. He obviously didn't want to talk about it. That was alright. The monk smiled as Kaji looked his way. 'Thank you for helping me with my chores. You don't know how many times a week I have to do this. The less I have to do the better!' He chuckled lightly to himself and waved for Kaji to follow him. He led the boy to a surprisingly modern looking room, with an electric kotatsu and a doorway that led to a somewhat furnished kitchen offshoot. Yoshirou directed Kaji to sit and entered the kitchen section. 'Do you prefer green or black tea?' Whichever Kaji said, Yoshirou prepared. The table had books scattered all over it, with titles like Phenomenology of the Self, Jung and the Tarot, and The Red Book: Liber Novus. Between all the books were sheets of paper covered in barely legible handwriting. A few minutes later, Yoshirou sat down at the kotatsu and poured two cups of tea. 'Careful, it's still hot. I'm sorry about the mess. Research, into this persona business. Whoever named all of these things definitely had a theme in mind.' |

Kaji nodded silently and followed Yoshirou into the temple. The two of them stepped in a room too cozy-looking for Kaji to think it was inside a temple, but here they were. He stood still until Yoshirou gestured for him to sit down, which he did, still not fully relaxing. "Green tea," Kaji answered. It was his mother's favorite, and that had apparently been passed onto him as well. He couldn't help but eye all of the books - persona related, presumably. Yoshirou came back and confirmed as much. Kaji nodded, gratefully accepting the cup of tea. "When all of this started, there was a psychology buff in our ranks who came up with some of the terms we use. He's still an administrator on Bedlam, I believe." |

Yoshirou frowned. 'The way you speak makes it sound like you were among the first to be... affected by the ruins. That's somewhat surprising. I'd assumed this had been going on for much longer, given how old the ruins are. 'In any case, it's a shame that young people like you are included in all of this. You should be focusing on living your life.' He bowed his head. 'As part of the generation likely responsible for creating such a horrible situation, I apologize.' |

Again, Kaji nodded. "As far as we can tell, there were few-to-no other persona users in the ruins before my group awakened." He paused, then rescinded, saying, "Though, we actually did find evidence of a group before ours - some years ago, I believe. If I recall correctly, they... did not survive." Yoshirou's apology came as a surprise. Kaji's eyes widened and he shook his head, bowing in return. "No, you needn't apologize. It certainly wasn't your fault directly, and we've... we've all created some trouble ourselves." He looked up, paused, then asked, "If you don't mind my asking, when did you learn about all this?" |

So the ruins had been a problem for longer than a couple years, but probably no longer than a decade. Yoshirou nodded. 'That would explain why not much is known about the ruins, I suppose. There is very little information on Bedlam; true research into the facility and what happened to it has only really started within the past year.' He shrugged. 'Of course, you already knew that. Just thinking out loud. 'If you're talking about when I was whisked by our mutual friend Philemon, it was only a week or two before I met you in the ruins. It piqued my interest, to say the least, so I've been trying to do research on it.' He motioned to the books. 'It's a bit disappointing that the names for all of these phenomena, apt as they are, weren't given to them by someone working in the labs themselves. It was still interesting to read about, regardless.' |
