You would think, after losing his grip on reality and trying to kill a bunch of people, that Kaji would have had his fill of awkward reunions with people he'd offended. But no, unfortunately, he had felt the need to angrily deflect the comments of a literal monk and stomp out of the temple. And now, a few weeks later, he cooled down, realized his mistakes, and come face to face with the unfortunate proposition of apologizing. He scratched his head in frustration. As the monk - Yoshirou had been his name - had said, the apology meant nothing if he didn't mean it. And he did mean it, truly, but... he shook his head. Finding answers for his questions were why he was coming back in the first place. He stepped in front of the building he remembered as Iikan-Ji temple, and after a moment of hesitation, stepped inside. Kaji looked around, trying to see if there was anyone there. Maybe Yoshirou would fatefully happen to be sweeping again. |

As if not a single moment had passed since the last time Kaji had been there, Yoshirou was indeed sweeping just a few feet where he had been before, as if it had taken him weeks to clean that small section. The monk looked up from his duties to find Kaji looking around the temple like he had weeks ago. He smiled pleasantly. 'Ah, Okawa-kun. How have you been? How may I help you?' |

Kaji blinked. It was almost surreal, seeing Yoshirou sweeping in the same place he had been the last time Kaji came to the temple. It was like nothing at all had changed since then - thinking about it, nothing really had. Pursing his lips and tightening his expression, Kaji went into a deep bow. "You were correct. There was no reason for you to accept my words if I was not going to fix my behavior. I left hastily, last time." His tone was respectful and quiet, but Kaji's fists were clenched. "I... am not sure how to change myself." He looked back up, meeting Yoshirou's gaze. "I would..." His voice faltered - I would like help. It was such a simple sentence, but so difficult to say. "... ngh. Uh." |

Yoshirou's expression hardly changed as Kaji bowed and explained himself. When Kaji began stammering, he just chuckled softly. Yoshirou briskly approached the young man and presented him the broom. 'Here. I could use some help sweeping. We can talk as we work.' |

Kaji was still in the middle of tripping over his words when Yoshirou handed him a broom. Dumbly, Kaji took the broom and held it in his hands. "Yeah. Sure..." He just stared at it for a few seconds, momentarily dazed by the concept of a broom. This wasn't a vacuum cleaner. What was happening. A moment of silence later, Kaji began to sweep silently, glancing up at Yoshirou. Was this the part where he talked more? Was the monk going to say something? |

Yoshirou quickly retrieved a broom and began sweeping along with Kaji. He let the silence sit in the air for a while, simply listening to the sound of their brooms scratching along the stone. After a few minutes had passed, Yoshirou spoke. 'So, Okawa-kun, how have you been? You look to be the age to be in college. How are classes going? I hope ruins exploration hasn't had any affect on your grades.' |

Using a broom was not quite as straightforward as it appeared. Kaji felt ridiculous even thinking that, like a helpless child who knew nothing, but as he awkwardly fidgeted with the cleaning instrument in his hands, he realized just how lucky he was that his mom owned a vacuum cleaner. Too quickly, and nothing would catch - too slowly, and the grounds would take far too long to become clean. The broom was truly a respectable adversary. Finally, Yoshirou asked a question, and it wasn't quite what Kaji was expecting. He stopped, looking up from his work and over to the monk. "Huh? Oh, well... Yes, I go to Rokujima. It's going well. I had to learn how to balance classwork and ruins exploration in high school, and the transition hasn't changed too much." |

Yoshirou nodded as Kaji spoke. 'Ah, you were a high school student when you awoke? That must have been very difficult. Most young men and women find it hard enough to get through high school without the added threat of monsters. 'What do you study at Rokujima?' |

Kaji straightened his back, relaxing his posture and ceasing the sweeping. "Criminal justice," he replied simply. He didn't elaborate. |

Yoshirou's sweeping faltered for just a second at Kaji's major. A single wave of fear washed over him, one he knew was baseless but that chilled him all the same. The outward effect was barely noticeable, however. 'Is that so?' was all he said. A few seconds passed in silence before he spoke again. 'Do you have family, Okawa-kun? Do you live with them?' |
