This was the right place, right? She'd been here before, she should know the correct way to get to Momo's restaurant by now. Nagashima still felt like a maze at times, though, and it was never a sure thing she was going where she intended.

Lo and behold, the familiar interior confirmed it was indeed the Peach Grill, which Kiku entered with all the presence of an incredibly stealthy mouse, eyes looking around as she did. The Taiyoutono uniform underneath the too-big jacket was spick-and-span, and her head was topped with the proper bun her hair was tied into.

Slow days were the worst days, at least in Momo's opinion. The crowd that usually came in after school were busy with work or something, because not nearly as many of them had shown up. Even the ones that had ended up ordering the easy items on the menu to make, much to Momo's chagrin. If she were given full creative license on the menu, the three-cheese grilled sandwich would have been taken off just for how obnoxiously simple it was to whip off. It was a popular order, though, so Ichiro had put his foot down on that. Momo huffed and resisted the urge to lean on the counter and nap. No one was even her to talk to her today. Saya, of all people, had shown up a few days ago, and that had been neat, but nothing of interest had happened since.

(She's married, Momo thought to herself dully. She's married, and I can't even remember the last time I got laid.)

Although Kiku's entrance was decidedly stealthy, Momo had already been watching the entrance like a hawk, waiting for someone to come in and give her something to do. "Aoki-chan!" Momo was already grinning widely, gesturing towards the empty seat on the empty counter in front of her. "Come on, sit down! How are you doing? You look - ...?" Momo looked the girl over with a discerning eye, before leaning over and whispering in a concerned voice, "Girl, what's with that jacket? It looks like something that belongs to a... really lame dude. And it's too big for you."

No sooner had Kiku stepped in the door than Momo blared out a greeting and invited her to sit. Well, talking was the real reason she had come here so it was certainly a lot easier with Momo herself inviting it.

Visibly a bit nervous and with a shaky smile, she sat in the offered seat. "Huh? The jacket? I-It was just in the back of my closet, I'm not sure where it-" She reached down to fiddle with the zipper only to notice it was on the wrong side. Wait, why did she have a men's jacket? She glanced down, muttering a confused "Huh".

Momo leaned in closer, humming to herself. "Hmm, hmm..." She noticed the zipper almost immediately, and a sneaky grin made its way onto her face. "Oho, a men's jacket? Aoki-chan, have you found yourself a boyfriend?"

(Oh my god, Momo thought bitterly, I'm even losing to the high schooler. I am going to die alone.)

"You should've brought him in," Momo said, pulling back and crossing her arms, still smiling. "I'd like to see him. You want anything, by the way?"

What? A boyfriend? Kiku would never! A blush crept onto her cheeks after Momo's sudden assumption, and the younger girl shook her head rapidly as she vehemently denied. "N-No, I-I-I don't know where it came from! Honest! N-No boyfriend to bring in."

She laid her hands on the counter, rapidly drumming her fingers on it and not quite meeting Momo's eyes. Her face was still flushed with embarrassment.

The leering grin on Momo's face didn't falter at all at Kiku's vehement denial. "Oooooh, I see. Don't worry, Aoki-san, I don't know what boyfriend you're talking about," she said knowingly, giving the younger girl a wink. It appeared pretty clear that Momo didn't believe her at all.

(She did believe her, of course - she had to, at this point. She's single too, Momo thought, practically weeping with joy inside. We will be comrades in hating men.)

Kiku did look uncomfortable with the joke though, and Momo couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. She pulled out a menu and placed it in front of the other girl, smiling normally again. "Eheh, sorry, Aoki-chan, just teasing. It looks good on you, honest... though we should still go shopping some time. Anyway, tell me what you want! I'll whip up something special for you."

"Ahaha, y-yeah. Teasing...." Kiku tried to laugh the joke off, laying the menu flat on the counter and looking at it silently. Did Momo really think she had a boyfriend? Father would probably kill her if she even thought about it....

She looked back up at Momo after a silent moment. "H-Hey, Makoto-sama? So, uh, how is Senpai doing? I-I haven't really heard from him since... y-you know." She looked away as she finished her sentence, the last couple words a quiet hush.

Momo figured Kiku was thinking about what she wanted rather than anything else, so she started to clear off her workspace. She took a knife, scraping bits and pieces of chopped ingredients off her cutting board and tossing them in the garbage disposal. She was running the utensil under the sink when Kiku spoke up. Momo immediately turned off the sink, her expression growing a tad melancholic. "Oh, Ryuu? I'm sure he's fine. He's a strong kid, but he never talks to anyone - haven't seen him since he got out of the hospital." She blinked. "Aoki-chan, you haven't heard from him either? You two go to the same school, don't you?"

She shook her head. "No. I mean, n-not seeing him at school isn't that weird because we're in different years anyways, b-but he hasn't messaged me or anything. Usually we'll go to those r-". Too much. Time to backpedal. "...We'll, uh, y-you know, just meet up and do homework or... s-something." Was that suspicious?

Fingers started drumming on the countertop again. "I know you a-asked me to try and make sure he stays out of trouble, s-so I just can't help but feel him getting hurt is kind of my fault." A sigh. "And I think I should try calling but, I-I just don't know what to say."

Momo froze and her expression immediately turned into one of concern. She put her knife down on the cutting board and said, "Aoki-chan, it wasn't your fault. Don't say that." She sighed and crossed her arms. "What happened... happened, and it wasn't anyone's fault. You just happened to be there at the time. You even managed to help him!" Momo presented Kiku with a reassuring smile. "Don't blame yourself, okay? That's..." Pause. She was actually about to say 'an awful Ryuunosuke-like thing to do,' but that probably wasn't the most tasteful joke to make at the moment. "That's not gonna help anyone," was what Momo settled on. A bit harsher than she would have liked, but still.

"And if you want to call him, just call him. Or ask to meet up. Tell him you're concerned." She grinned conspiratorially. "If you want, you can bring him over here, and we can talk to him together?"
