Good news: we didn't die, so all of that time I spent last night mentally writing my fucking will was for nothing. Bad news: we didn't find Yamaguchi. Lot of stuff happened, lot of stuff got discussed, and I'm fucking tired and anxious right now, so I'm gonna try and summarize best I can.
We went down into a deep, high level bit of the ruins and Kyo tried to call for Yamaguchi. For whatever fucking reason, Ms. Gold showed up instead, with Kumori on her back. (Kumori's fine, by the way. We just got him dinner.) That Swordsman guy who's usually with her wasn't here this time either. For some reason she never told us, she knew about Ms. Yellow's real name, and said that Ms. Yellow probably knew that we were trying to lure her up with it and wouldn't come just from doing that.
What we did manage to get out of Ms. Gold: She's been gone because she's been really far down in the ruins for a while, trying to figure out what Yamaguchi's up to. She says that stuff gets really fucking weird the further down in the ruins we go. Not sure how much weirder we can get, considering we've already found No Man's Land (which, by the way, she didn't seem to know about).
Apparently that barrier Charles' group ran into was something Yamaguchi can do. She doesn't know why she approached those guys before, though, and told us we should try and avoid her if we can. She didn't know what Qlippoths were either, and couldn't really help with any questions about the ruins' past, because she couldn't remember anything from back then. Convenient amnesia, again.
She said some stuff that implied she could tell when we came into the ruins, something about a "sixth sense", and talked about how it feels like the walls are "throbbing" sometimes. She didn't like Kyo quoting some stuff from some older documents at her. I dunno what to make of that. Got really defensive when I tried pressing her further for info on Ms. Yellow. And then she said we should keep looking for clues. Or, rather, Kyo said that, and Ms. Gold agreed.
I don't know what to think about a lot of this. I don't want to think Ms. Gold's just been fucking with us all this time, but a lot that happened there is bothering me. If anyone else who was there wants to chime in, go ahead. I'm gonna go calm my nerves.

A will isn't much good if you only write it in your brain, you know. That's the thing that dies when you die.
Anyway, I won't pretend I wasn't trying to get a bit of a rise out of Gold, but the only thing I'm really sure about after this is that she doesn't react to things like a normal human being would. That doesn't automatically mean she's lying. If she's some kind of Shadow incarnation of a person, then it might just be that some things set her off and she's subconsciously repressing them. Might be she's also got that annoying tendency our personal Shadows have of being unable to straight-up talk about certain things. She might not even know she's doing it. What looks like convenient amnesia could just be the nature of what she is.
That's the optimistic suspicion I've got. The not-so-optimistic one, I don't have enough to go on to feel comfortable with trumpeting. Gold is harder to read than even the most, um, shall we say questionable of the friends I've made this year? All I can really say for sure is that she's forcing that cheerful attitude, but you know... you try smiling in her situation and see how that works out for ya.
She did give us some information that'll help us if we want to take another crack at finding Yellow, but it involves going pretty deep into the ruins and that's an intimidating prospect even if the best and brightest of us all went in to do it together. I don't think we should try that right away, but I don't think it'd be a good idea to put it off too long, either. My gut says if we find her we can either find out what she's up to or have a chance to convince her to tell us what she's up to, and that'll maybe lead us to a way we can stop more Shadows from appearing.
Here is a link to an audio recording of the conversation.

Yes… I’d sell the souls of all humanity to the devil if I thought it’d get us a happy ending.

Post By: HorrorPrincess97 Date: 2014-XX-04 at 17:30 yeah hi, another one of the unlucky few that made it back alive after that whole night. After hearing what Ms. Gold had to drop on us, I kinda wish we had a fight or something that would have taken our minds off of it. Like, if what Gold said was true then we’ve been killing things inside a place that may or may not be actually alive or something??? I’m fine with hunting Shadows, hell my persona is Ash, but I don’t think willingly walking into the mouth of something to fight its tapeworms is a great plan? i mean I don’t think anyone’s heard a report about it eating someone before but… who’d want to be the first for that anyway? We at least got this Kumori guy out, and Gold looked good (I MEAN FOR A5 SHADOW GHOST PERSON OR WHATEVER) but man this was a crazy night. you guys be careful when you go in there okay? prob best to not go solo for a while until we get some more info on this whole thing. Oh yeah also Ms. Gold is going to get a cell phone or something so I guess time to decide if you want a Shadow in your contact list? Stuff’s weird, yo [Posted from mobile]

Don't get hung up on the "alive" part. Shadows are weird. There's no telling what form they'll take or what their effect will be, but I wouldn't put them in the same category as actual living things. They're more like thought-energy given form. Or something. If they resemble something it's probably because for people in general it has a common enough association with a specific feeling or idea that the symbolism gave it form.
...Not that I'm an expert or anything, but, between my own theories and the stuff on Toru Motou's old laptop, that's the best way I know to describe them. Anyway, don't let the effect they have on the ruins get your undies in a twist. If there's one thing I've learned about Shadows, it's that the form they take is usually just a distraction from the more important question of "how dangerous is this particular Shadow, and exactly what is dangerous about it?"

"Thought energy given form" is a good enough simplification of what they are. Best way to think of it is that Personas and Shadows are two sides of one coin.
I'm not particularly concerned by the note about the ruins somehow being "alive", on that note. All it confirms is something recent events have already suggested: that there is some consciousness that controls the ruins.
As for Ms. Gold, I've personally never trusted her. I won't comment on her other suspicious behavior, but it seems clear to me that she has been lying about not remembering her time in the lab. Why else would she have reacted so strongly to Kyo quoting previous audio logs at her? It may truly have been amnesia, but if she is lying about that, then it puts all of her other information in doubt. Including her statements of Ms. Yellow's guilt.

I can't accept that she's always been our enemy, though, not with how much she's done to help us all. There's something going on, but until I know what, I can't just immediately jump to her having deceived us all this time.
Oh yeah, weren't you and a couple other guys going to look through that CD, Kaerunuma? Did you find anything out?

Nothing that couldn't have already been reasonably inferred.
