Yes… I’d sell the souls of all humanity to the devil if I thought it’d get us a happy ending.

Noriko was working again. Of course she was. Honestly at this point she was happy that she was able to get through a day of work again. Even if it was a few days ago, the memory of... Having a day off was the closest to a waking nightmare as she ever felt. But she managed to put it all behind her and focus on what she liked to do the most. Which was of course working. The noise of the forge chased away the bad memories of not being of the forge, and the feeling of being productive again was the best feeling around. Well, a subjective "best". Her idea of being fine probably wasn't the same as everyone else's. Even still, there was also Hideki still working the front counter again. She still didn't have any control over that either. But as long as he stayed in his section of the shop and she could peacefully stay in hers, then all was well. It gave her more time to concentrate on her work. Alone. Not having to worry about being surrounded by all sorts of people any more... Just going to be a normal, ordinary day. Nothing too special happening, no changes, same old routine. I'm going to work, and it will be good work. The best damn work the customers will ever see, that's for sure. |

"Do I have to wear this?" Meanwhile, back at the front counter, Hideki sat in his chair, his eyes not going away from the thing he was wearing. When Noriko told him he had to wear it, at first he thought it was some sort of weird joke, but that thought was short lived due to the fact that Noriko just does not joke. It was an apron, but not any apron, it was specially designed... For her. It had a pinkish white color, with a sign at the chest that said 'Noriko'. But it didn't just say her name, it was literally written in cursive, spelling out her name with english letters, and around her name, there were a few flower and butterfly imprints. According to her, her mother had it made for her, but she rejected it on the spot. And he could see why, it looked so... Girlish. Can't imagine someone like Noriko wearing such a thing. But still, why him? Of course he protested, but Noriko's death glares eventually won, and now he was stuck wearing the silly thing for the rest of the day. Maybe for the rest of his time working here. With a sign, Hideki merely reclined his chair, waiting of anyone to come by. He could only hope no one he knew would stumble upon him with such a ridiculous outfit. |

Just another day. Some time ago, Trent Proctor had received a business card from someone that was advertising herself as a blacksmith. At the time he didn't think too much about it, but once it had become clear she was also a part of the Nagashima Persona-user community, he considered there may be some merit to using her services. After all, a steel pipe wasn't exactly comfortable to swing around a lot. If he needed to attack something faster and he didn't have access to magic, maybe he needed something else...? He had a rough idea of what he wanted to order, at least. Dressed in a black cloth jacket, dark grey jeans and his usual boots, he looked rather unassuming. A bit dark, but definitely unassuming. It didn't take too long to reach the specific store, and once he did, he entered without considering it twice. He looked around and found the store to be rather empt-- ...is that Tachibana. Or not. The fuck is he wearing. |

Sparks flew with each blow of Noriko's hammer, the loud clanging filling the air as she was hard at work. For most people, it would seem monotonous or even too loud. Luckily they didn't have to bother Noriko with their opinions. This job was everything to her, and she was more than happy to work the forge every single day from morning to night without a single complaint. It was the furthest thing from being boring in her mind. A few more hits finished out one of the newest orders, and Noriko placed it carefully in the quench bucket. She then took a few minutes for a breather as she wiped a few beads of sweat from her forehead and watched the water boil and bubble around the hot steel. "Well that's one down for now. Not a bad pace today either." No sooner than she had said that, the light in the corner of the room went off, which signaled that a new customer had walked into the metalworks through the front door. Normally when she was working by herself, this would have been the time where she had to abandon her rhythm and go and see what that person wanted, but with Hideki there he could just take care of all of that himself. Hmph, maybe he's good for something Noriko thought dismissively as she grabbed a fresh piece of steel and placed it into the furnace. Just maybe |

"Oh god what" Suddenly, the front door opened, as Hideki was caught distracted. Fumbling a bit, he sat upright, and gulped, prepared to greet the newest customer that comes t- "... Trent-san??" Yes, greet the newest customer that comes through, which just so happen to the Trent Proctor. This was already going to be hard to endure. His face showed an expression of surprise, as he came close. His eyes darted across the room, trying to think of a good excuse for him wearing this apron, somehow he believed that if he just told him that it's just 'his newest job uniform', he wouldn't buy it. Or hell, he might. And think something weird is going on in this place. His eyes eventually reached one of the cameras. Right, he was being filmed. He needed to act natural in case Noriko's mom reviewed them. "A-Ah, welcome to Kaneshiro Metalworks, sir." He said, doing a small bow from his chair, as he took the pen and pencil lying next to him to prepare the new order. "W-What order do you wish to do?" It was weird talking to him like he was a stranger, but he needed to be professional! |

"..." Unbelievable. "...snrk." Before Hideki could do anything about it, in a flash Trent pulled out his phone and snapped several pictures of Hideki in his uniform. It was unclear what he intended to do with them, yet quite easy to infer that they were probably going on Bedlam. The young man took a few deep breaths to try and contain his laughter after the event was done. Hideki's face must have been priceless. After he'd managed to calm down, he approached the counter. "...yeah, I'd like to order two things. Two matching trench knives. You know why." Trent looked at the room in the back of the store. Someone was there, right? |

CLANG So the front entrance bell had rung. That meant a new customer. CLANG The light in the forge had come on, pretty much confirming that beyond a shadow of a doubt. CLANG But then minutes passed after that, and the bell hadn't rung again signaling that they had left. Noriko would have taken their order and put it with the others by now, so why hadn't the bell rung? CLANG There was only one answer CLANG Hideki. CLANG Noriko dropped the hot steel onto the anvil and placed her hammer down on the nearest table she could find. "I knew it. Just knew that relying on him to take a simple order would have been too much." The blacksmith grumbled to herself as she pulled off her smithing gloves and placed them to the side as well as she made her way towards the front desk. "If you want something done right... Don't let anyone else do it for you." There was going to have to be some serious talks with her mother at some point. Some way to fix this whole situation that they had now. "Tachibana what's the holdup?" she huffed as she turned the corner and saw Trent at the desk with a perturbed Hideki at the register. Buuuut since she didn't know who the heck Trent was or what his relation to Hideki was, it was just another customer. Another customer that wasn't already out the door with the details of their order right in front of her. "I take it you're here to order something, then?" she then added, addressing Trent. |

For a moment, Trent remained strangely quiet, as he kept observing Hideki. What did he have in mind? Was he thinking about what to order? It was weird for him to think about it right now. But his train of thought was interrupted when Trent suddenly pulled out a phone and started taking photos. "W-W-W-WHAT!?" He said, before trying to cover the embarrassing apron, an effort that was completely in vain, as Trent probably got the money shot already. "T-Trent-san don't do that!" He said, scolding the man for taking such pictures. He knew they were going to end up in Bedlam, and he felt he wasn't going to hear the end of it. The worst part? Noriko was probably going to see them as well, and be confused over what people find so funny. Maybe. Doing a pout, he had no choice but to continue with the order. Picking up the notepad and pen again, he went ahead and began writing it down. "Two trench kni-AH!" Or he would, if it wasn't for Noriko suddenly entering the main hall, just in time to make Hideki feel worse. "A-Ah, Noriko-san! I was just, writing down the order!" He said, right before she went ahead and made the request herself. "N-No worries! I got it covered!" |

Hideki's reaction was priceless, he couldn't lie to himself. However, before long, another person appeared - a woman this time. The very one that had given him the business card that other day at the Hoshiyens... she didn't seem to remember him. Maybe that was for the best. "Yes... two trench knives." Was he forgetting something? "...I can also order sheaths to keep them in here, right?" As he asked the question, he cautiously slipped his phone in his underwear, where it was guaranteed that Hideki wouldn't try to grab it, without anyone noticing. |

Noriko's raised eyebrow was more than enough of a response to Hideki's stammering. Yeah, that sure's the disposition of someone who's got everything under control. What the heck did this customer do to make him freak out so much. Tell him that his taste in movies was bad? "Uh huh, sure" she said sarcastically as she crossed her arms and looked at the two guys. Clearly there was something going on between the two of them, but she couldn't find it in her to care. They were wasting time, and that meant wasting money, and that was something that definitely wasn't going to happen on her watch. "...Trench knives. Alright." It wasn't any of her business why this guy wanted something like that. Honestly, she was just glad he didn't bring in a reference photo that was a screenshot of some crap anime that was all the rage that month. Too many of those already... "Well, have you measured him yet, Tachibana? Don't tell me you've already forgotten how to take orders here." Noriko wasn't about to start working on the order without knowing the exact dimensions of the customer. It'd be slightly difficult to make something custom that worked with the customer in every shape and form if she didn't have that info. Although judging from the way that Hideki seemed to hide behind the counter in front of this guy, it wasn't looking likely that he'd even thought about that. ...And did that guy just shove his phone into his pants? Oh geez, we've got another weird one in here. Just what I need... "Hmm? Oh yeah, we have sheathes here too. Wouldn't be a complete order without it" she told Trent with a slight nod. "It's included in the price, so no extra charges sneaking up on you." |
