Yes… I’d sell the souls of all humanity to the devil if I thought it’d get us a happy ending.
Name: Kenta Okawa
Gender: Male
Age: 15

Class: 1-B

Clubs/Occupation: None

Personality: Born with an enormous chip on his shoulder (that he put there himself) Kenta is brash, rude, and generally a nuisance to most people that he meets. Always seeking the easy way out of having to do anything so that he can avoid any real work whenever possible, he would seem like a regular good-for-nothing teen if he didn’t balance his time with acting out rudely as well. With a healthy disdain for authority figures (and the beginnings of a juvie arrest record) Kenta is himself most when he’s being a nuisance.

Even still, he wouldn’t resort to straight up bullying people for money or to be cruel. His more temperament is more suited for spouting off snarky comments and then relying on his size and appearance to dissuade people from trying to do or say anything to act against him. He may be mostly bark, but if he’s ever provoked to bite he’ll be sure to be one that finishes whatever started it.

He doesn’t hate everything, though. Growing up, Kenta heard stories about his family’s long line of Australian ancestry from Grandpa Jamison, and while the family hadn’t set foot in the country in many years, he still filled young Kenta’s head with stories of the almost mythical Outback and its culture which captured his imagination for years, even as a teen.

History: Born from a third-generation Australian/Japanese family, Kenta was brought up by a pair of locally famous baseball players whose stars were rising towards possibly entering the major leagues. Of course, an unplanned pregnancy quickly put such plans on the brakes at first, but neither his father nor mother ever held that against their son. His father actually gave up his own career to help coach his wife back into shape and beyond, where she returned to being the fantastic player that she used to be.

Being born from two up and coming sport stars, one would imagine that Kenta would have a great respect for his parent’s hard work and the amount of effort it would take to balance their careers to raise him to the best of their ability. Unfortunately for the Ogawas, Kenta was not that sort of person. As he grew up, Kenta began to grow a (self-inflicted) chip on his shoulder at his parent’s success, tired of hearing the neighbors and people at his school constantly remind him of their accomplishments in the world of baseball. While his parents never wish to push a life of sports onto their son’s shoulders, only wish that he would pursue what made him happy, Kenta responded the only way that the teen knew how to: acting out.

He rejected sports of all kinds, often refusing to participate in gym class during school. This of course caused problems between him and the faculty and eventually other classmates as his acerbic personality clashed often with people. This meant he got into a lot of fights. Some he won, others he lost. His personality didn’t get any better as he grew older either, and as he got bigger, so did the scale of his acting out. Not participating in gym class turned to playing hooky for long periods of time, his small scuffles between other students turned into fistfights behind the school, and his general disregard for any authority reached its peak when he attempted to hotwire a car with his friends one day. His parents pulled a lot of strings to keep their son out of juvie, but the social damage had been done. Having the son of a popular sports star constantly being brought up in the news wasn’t going to do anything good for the family’s reputation, and so with a heavy heart Kenta’s parents chose to send him to live with a distant uncle in Nagashima as he was to start his first year in high school.

Feeling ‘free’ from being under the shadow of his parents, Kenta eased a bit up on his behaviour, mellowed out by the realization that he know long has their protection from any other potential brush-ups with the law either this far away from their influence. Even still, he wishes to blaze his own trial as himself, in all of his brusque, stubborn ways. New schools were just a new place for first impressions after all. He was going to make sure that they all got a good idea of who he really was.

Appearance: Standing at 5’5”, Kenta has (dyed) blonde messy hair that barely touches the tips of his ears. The most effort he’ll make of combing his hair is running a hand through it after drying himself from the shower, or failing that just shaking it rapidly. He has light-brown eyes and a slight scar above his right eyebrow that he refuses to discuss with anyone that asks about it.

Physically, he’s a little on the hefty size, but he’ll swear up and down that ‘it’s not fat, it’s power’ and can still stand up to most people due to his stature. He’s usually found in jeans and graphic tees when not stuffed into his school uniform, and never goes anywhere without his Great White Shark tooth necklace that his great grandfather swears is totally real and has been passed down through their family for generations.

Current Weapon/Combat Skill: While not trained in any particular martial art or fighting style, Kenta can still hold his own physically by using his large size and street-fighting skills to keep people at bay. And even though he’d never admit it or stoop to using one, is also very familiar with using a baseball bat.

Persona:
Name: Malingee
An Australian Aboriginal spirit, the Malingee is a beast that tries to avoid humans, but if provoked will eliminate them with a stone knife. With its stone knees that knock together and smoldering coal-like eyes, it does what it can to make its presence known so humans can easily avoid it.
