[uncomfortable whimpering]

Kiku jolted in her seat when Masako slapped her palm down, suddenly feeling wide awake. Joe clarified, and she gave a little nod in response. Geeze, how many people in town had a Persona? Big cities were strange. She glanced around for a second and responded in a low tone. "I, uh... yes. I have a head... person." That was a weird way of referring to them. Indicating Masako, she asked: "Um... how could you guess?" |

Masako turned back to Joe and frowned. She then said, at completely normal, non-regulated volume, "Of course I know it's a secret! That's why I was whispering. You're the one without a head, person." She turned back to Kiku, immediately more interested in the conversation. "What kind of instrument do you have?" Momo, for her part, had moved away to get Kiku's drink and start preparing the burger. She tried her best to ignore the conversation, but she couldn't help but overhear what they were talking about. Head person...? Momo felt a sudden chill on the back of her neck as a thought crossed her mind: could that be related to what Kotaro had mentioned in the hospital? She shook her head. No, of course not, that was ridiculous. They were probably just talking about some game she didn't know about. She came back with the coffee Kiku had requested, putting it in front of her. "Here you go, Kiku-chan!" She glanced over at Joe and Masako. "What're you guys talking about, anyway?" |

Joe sighed as Masako didn't whisper at all. She was gonna get herself hurt with that big mouth of hers. He sighed again as she mentioned instruments, not even bothering to correct her. Then Momo came back over asking too many questions. 'Dahhh, game!' Joe managed, turning his head away to avoid eye contact. 'Y-you know, like an rpg! Very, uh, popular! ...Right now.' He glanced at the other two, hoping they would help with the lie. He briefly wondered if Momo should know about persona. If she was going to find out, though, it should be through her brother. Better to keep it a secret now. |

As Joe gave an explanation, Kiku remained silent, hoping he could prattle off some excuse. He did, and, when he was finished, Kiku paused. Should she add something to make Joe's lie seem more convincing? She was quiet for a moment before very suddenly taking a swig from her newly-placed coffee, taking a long, long drink - Oh god, that's really hot, she thought to herself - as she kept the mug to her lips to avoid having to add to the conversation for as long as she could manage. |

Well that was a shitty lie, Momo thought to herself. She gave Masako a look, then gave Joe a look, and then gave Kiku a look. She crossed her arms, considering what to say, when Masako slammed the menu shut and handed it to Momo. "I want the squid burger," she said. "... the what?" Momo raised an eyebrow. "What Joe's getting." Momo opened her mouth, as if to say something, then closed it. She shrugged, taking the menu and stepping away. She'd broach the subject again later. Instead of helping, Kiku tried to remove herself from the conversation by destroying her entire mouth with scalding hot coffee. Joe wasn't sure if he should feel betrayed, worried, or impressed. Regardless, this left him and Masako alone to deal with this. And there's no way he could trust Masako to actually help... ...Until she managed to derail the entire conversation. Joe stared at Masako, unable to place if that had been intentional or not. 'Fuckin... good job, Motorhead.' He glanced over at Kiku, his expression less impressed. 'Thanks for the help, Mouse. You should get some milk for that burn.' He leaned back. 'Anyway, that was too close. So let's wait to talk about this until after we leave.' He eyed Masako. 'Got it?' As Momo walked away, Kiku finally slammed the now-empty cup back down on the counter, panting heavily. There was an inferno in her mouth as she tried to use her words, but oh god that was really hot. She'd probably scalded her tongue doing that. She panted out a "...sorry" to Joe as she leaned on the counter, still breathing heavily, before managing to calm herself down a bit and speak normally. "I did... still have one question, though," she added quietly. She swallowed then sat back up straight, looking towards Masako and Joe. "I read on that... forum, I think is the term...? about someone called a Ms. Yellow." A pause. "C-Could either of you tell me wh-what that's all about?" Edited by Reach, Sep 14 2016, 11:43 AM.

"An enigmatic entity," Masako said, speaking quietly for once, to her credit. "One that the community has clashed with multiple times. Recently, she's shown signs of remorse, so a party's been sent out to communicate with her. I didn't go, because I didn't feel like dying; you didn't go, because you didn't know, and Kaburagi didn't go..." Masako paused. "Actually, why didn't you go, Kaburagi? Seems like something you'd want to stick your neck in." |

Joe nodded as Masako rattled off the short explanation of Ms. Yellow. 'Yeah, I met her during that 'signs of remorse' phase. She was just tellin us to fuck off in a nice way. I trust her as far as I can throw her.' Then Masako asked a question he hadn't been expecting. The official reason he hadn't gone was because he didn't agree with the decision. The last time she had shown herself, she told them to never come back. As far as Joe was concerned, that was a final warning before she pulled out the stops. They weren't going to talk to her. They were going to fight her. But... wasn't that even more reason for him to go? If he could be there to help fight, that could mean less people hurt, especially if he assumed a fight would break out. He knew the true reason, of course. The last time he had been on a hair trigger. He knew she could kill them all. He was prepared to jump at her the moment she showed any signs of hostility. So, what if this new group actually had a chance at reasoning with her? If Joe had gone, would he had been able to keep his cool? Or would he have managed to fuck it up and get everybody killed? Of course, Masako and Kiku didn't need to know about this. So he stared at the counter and shrugged. '...Too many cooks, I guess. Besides, they got a bunch of real strong people in that group. No need for overkill.' |

"So she's... a bad guy, then?" Kiku gave out a sigh, looking down at the empty cup in front of her. "I didn't think there would be more to it than those monsters. They're scary, but at least they don't seem organized or capable of planning anything." A pause. "But if there's someone out there who is planning something...." She trailed off and began twiddling with a strand of hair, a gray swirl wrapping around her index finger. "Well, it worries me a bit." |
