This was probably a bad idea. Momo and Joe hadn't exactly started out on the right foot, and he was pretty sure the only reason they hadn't ended up clawing at each other's eyes was because Ryuunosuke had been around. Returning to this restaurant was not a good idea, but Masako had decided here was the place to eat today. Joe wasn't going to turn her down, because hey free food, but it was an ill-advised decision, AT BEST. Out of courtesy, Joe removed all his piercings and kept them in his pocket. There wasn't much he could do about the tattoos since he was wearing a short sleeved shirt, but he hoped the piercing thing would at least make things less antagonizing. As they walked in, Joe actively avoided looking at the kitchen area, instead glancing around the rest of the store. 'Yo, Motorhead. Think maybe we could, uh... sit somewhere towards the back?' |

Kiku was not sitting somewhere towards the back. School was done for the day, she was hungry, and there wasn't anything to make back at the dorm, so stopping at that place Momo worked seemed like a good idea. She hadn't known about the 50% off on Fridays deal until taking notice of one of those garish flyers plastered outside the store and, while it might have been a better idea to just wait until then before spending some money on a restaurant, darn it, she was already here and she was already hungry. Having taken a seat at the counter only a minute or so ago, school bag laying on the counter next to her, she was awaiting service when she looked back and noticed two people she hadn't seen before, looking to be around her age, enter the buildi- no, wait, was that Joe? She couldn't even recognize him without those bits of metal on his face (or the guitar around his waist, for that matter). She couldn't decide whether or not to greet Joe, and as such, simply stared quietly for a second or two as she tried to figure out the proper etiquette in this setting. |

"So I was thinking, right? Like, what if I just drank the water from my head monster thing? Do you think anyone's ever tried that? I couldn't find anything in the like, 30 or whatever pages on that forum website thing. That's crazy! How has no one thought of that, it's ridiculous! Are you even listening to me?" Momo perked up - she'd noticed Kiku sitting at the counter and was about to come over when Joe and Masako walked in. She recognized both of them: Joe was that person who had been with Ryuunosuke on the burger test day, and the other was Masako Kawaguchi. Masako was apparently a regular at the Peach Grill, and workers were ordered to just take her order and serve her food, not to listen to any of the inane garbage that came out of her mouth. Momo snorted. Apparently, the orders were pretty well placed. A head monster? What even was that? Maybe, Momo thought, if she just didn't greet Joe, he would leave and she wouldn't have to deal with this right now. She went over to Kiku and smiled. "Kiku-chan! It's so good to see you! How're you doing?" She pulled a menu out from behind the counter, handing it to the girl. "School going okay?" Meanwhile, Masako adamantly shook her head. "No. The booths are evil. The counter is the only option." A couple nearby, sitting in one of the booths, exchanged uneasy glances. Without offering any explanation, Masako went up to the counter and sat directly next to Kiku. |

Just as he entered the restaurant, a familiar gray-haired girl made eye-contact. Oh, and Momo also showed up and specifically didn't look at him. Also, Masako apparently had superstitions about booth seats and had decided to sit directly next to Kiku. Great. It was the perfect storm of bullshit. Resigned to his fate, Joe dragged his feet over to the counter. Without prompting, he began introductions. 'Hey, Mouse. This is Motorhead. Motorhead, this is Modest Mouse.' He plopped himself down on a seat next to Masako and leaned his head on his hand. 'Motorhead, think you could order me the bacon cheesburger? Pretty sure our server is actively trying to ignore my existence right now.' |

Kiku's head snapped back towards Momo as she was greeted, and she took the menu in her hands with a pleasant smile. "Oh, u-uh. I'm fine, thank you. Just thought I would stop by at some point and... I mean, you know... e-eat something." She scratched the back of her head, suddenly feeling awkward. Her expression turned to one of surprise as the other two suddenly joined her at the counter, quickly grabbing her bag and sliding it away to make room for the girl to sit. "Oh, Kaburagi-san. It's nice to see you again." She glanced from the other girl, trying to decide how best to greet her, and then back to Joe. "I, uh... who's 'Mouse'?" Compared to the last time Momo and Joe had seen her, Kiku looked a little tired. Dark circles were starting to form under her eyes. Edited by Reach, Sep 8 2016, 02:52 PM.

Oh. Oh, was that where he was going to go? Keeping a sickly sweet smile on her face and secretly biting her tongue behind her lips, Momo resisted the urge to kick out Jounichi for his prattling little mouth. How had sweet little Ryuunosuke made friends with a deviant like this? He had taught her little brother to fight or something? Figuring she might actually go for the knives if she looked Joe in the face, Momo made it a point to simply hand two menus to Masako, still smiling. "Go ahead and take a look at the menu! Order whenever you're ready." Momo went back to Kiku next, hoping the child that she actually liked would help to calm her down some. Her tactic worked - the moment Momo noticed the dark circles under Kiku's eyes, all of her frustration immediately melted into concern. "Kiku-chan, you look tired," she said, frowning. "Have you been getting enough sleep?" Masako, who had simply waved once to Kiku, was now flipping through the menu. She hadn't handed Joe's to him, either: she was just holding onto both of them, one underneath the other. She murmured something about 'squids,' eyes rapidly flickering through the text on the laminated pages. |

Yep, this pretty much already sucked. Joe's head sunk to the table as Momo actually ignored him. He was really good at making people hate him. At least she hadn't kicked him out. That was a plus. He waited for a moment for Masako to give him the menu, then snatched it from her hand when she also ignored him. 'No squid burgers,' Joe told her, flipping through the menu. He glanced at Kiku as Momo mentioned how tired she looked. He didn't really know her that well, but she seemed close to Ryuu so he was at least a little worried. 'Burnin the midnight oil, Mouse? Don't push yourself.' He tried to make eye-contact to see if he could determine if it was persona-related. That, at least, was something he could help with. Returning to the menu, he glanced over the options, even though he had technically already decided. Toward the bottom of the burger list, he found what looked like the dish Momo had served him and Ryuunosuke. He dropped the menu on the table and jabbed a finger at the selection. 'Know what? Changed my mind. I want this again.' |

Kiku sat in the same proper position as always - hands folded in lap, sitting up straight - despite the fact her eyes suggested she really wanted to lay her head down right now. She gave an answer to both Joe and Momo, forcing herself to keep a smile on: "I-I'm fine. Just... you know, not used to high school... things. It's just k-keeping me up a little late." She patted her school bag with a hand, forcing out a little chuckle to try and keep things light. Kiku didn't want them to have to worry about her. As she finished speaking, her head turned and her eyes met Joe's for just a few seconds. She looked back towards Momo, still smiling and speaking as pleasantly as she could manage. "Uh, may I just have a coffee for now? Cream and, uh... o-one sugar, please." Another scratch on the back of her head. Kiku didn't seem to have all noticed Momo was avoiding interaction with Joe. |

Masako looked at Joe indignantly as he snatched the second menu out of her hands. "I was going to use that," she said, not bothering to mention why she needed two menus. She huffed. "And they don't have a squid burger here anyway. Or a burrito. It's unfortunate." The conversation then shifted, as apparently the girl to her left - Kicky or whatever - was tired. Masako wasn't interested for all of three seconds, before she blinked and started staring at Kiku intently. Momo gave Masako a strange look, then turned back to Kiku. "Right, right. School stuff." She smiled lightly. "Things'll get easier when you get used to it. Schedule should calm down soon enough." She resisted the urge to reach out and pet Kiku's head, then took the menu from her. "Sure! Let me know if you want anything else." She then turned back to Joe. Almost immediately, her facial expression went stone-cold as she wordlessly took the menu out of his hands, assuming that would be enough achknowledgment for his order. Masako slapped a palm on the counter and asked Kiku, "Do you have a head-person?" |

Joe took Kiku's maintained eye contact to mean that it was Persona related. He'd have to talk to her afterwards just to be sure and see if he could help. When Momo took his menu, he returned her glare back at her only to kick himself when she turned away. Glaring was not a way of making friends, especially when the other person already hated him. He just wished she wouldn't make it so hard to actually want to be friends. And then Masako started making a lot of noise about 'head-people' So Joe's elbow found itself jabbed into her side. Through gritted teeth he muttered to her, 'Do YOU have a head, person? Not so damn loud, it's still a secret.' He glanced around the restaurant to make sure no one was staring before looking over at Kiku. 'She, also... you know,' he said, indicating Masako. Figured he'd clear that up so Kiku wouldn't have to wonder. |
