Manabu watched with a frown as Gally's Persona repaired the CD. Once she handed it over to him, he glanced over it, holding it up to the light so he could get a better look at it. After a moment, he handed the CD off to Trent. "Here. Let's pop that in and take a look." Once the CD loaded up, there would indeed be changes to the files available. Several of the garbage files had regained their file names, and a few of them would even open when clicked.

The girl took the CD from Trent's hands. Dispelling a suspicion he didn't even know he had, whatever it is that she does did indeed work on the CD. Magically (hah), some of the worst parts of the damage that it had sustained were gone... Manabu looked at the CD for a bit before handing it to Trent. He had no reason to try examining it, so he simply went over to the computer and popped it in. He had to do a double take as he noticed that not only had the CD physically recovered - some of the information inside had also come back. "There's change." In a few keystrokes, he created a new folder in Gally's desktop, created yet another folder within it called "01" and then copied the contents of the CD to it. If anyone bothered to look they'd notice that the pale young man seemed to be good with computers. After the file duplication was complete, he extracted the CD and gave it to Gally again. |

"Heey, you're pretty good at handling a computer!" Gally says, complimenting Trent on his skills as she looked over his shoulder. Once the file copy was done, Trent handed the CD back to her. "Okay! Time to try again!" Sitting back onto her bed, Gally closed her eyes again and envisioned the CD as its repaired form. This time, however, she envisioned the files they couldn't touch this time. Exhaling softly, she let the warm glow wash over the CD. Crazy Diamond seemed to have a look of concentration on his face while he assisted Gally in the repair. This time, they took it a bit slower, making sure to do a good job instead of just repairing it normally. Little by little, the CD slowly repaired itself. First the outer film was repaired, then a few more of the gouges went away, leaving a few fairly bad scratches. "Okay. That should do it for round 2!" Gally announced as she opens her eyes. She then hands the CD to Manabu for inspection. It certainly looked better, and as far as he could tell, the information hadn't been erased from it either. |

It's not that amazing, Manabu thought, somewhat irritably, as Gally fawned over Trent's computer skills. All he was doing was copying it into another folder. Was that really all that foreign of a concept? He watched with half-lidded eyes as Gally continued to work her magic on the disc. Once again, she handed it over to him, and he held it up to look at it. The label on the front of the disc was now plainly visible. "'Outlier Effect Backup #2'... Whoever authored these files must have wanted to make sure they weren't lost. Or perhaps this was given to someone else," he said. He handed it back over to Trent. When run, the disc would have new files on it, but unfortunately, it was more of the same. More census PDFs, as well as folders containing a PDF reader program and a spreadsheet program. "This may be a bust. Let's go ahead and get it fully repaired," he said. |

While the pretty restoring fireworks were happening, Trent decided to preemptively make another subfolder - predictably titled "02" - to contain their second backup. With that done, he turned to the others and waited to receive the CD again. After a few moments, he received it, and checking the contents again would reveal... not a whole lot. He copied the contents of the CD nonetheless and extracted it from the computer, before handing it to Gally once more. "...I could check if any changes have happened to the corrupted information of the Outlier Effect Report and Summary files if it's necessary." |

"Okay, let's see.." Gally spoke as she nabbed the CD again. "I've a good feeling about this one." As Gally sat back onto her bed, she and Crazy Diamond began to focus again, the warm glow washing over the CD for a third time. This time it appeared to have taking out pretty much all of the scratches now. "Okaaay, aaaaand stop!" Gally commanded Crazy Diamond. She held it up to the light to inspect any signs of erasure, but didn't see any. "Okay, I think this should do it. If anything's not working, I'll try once more, but I doubt it'll be any better." Handing the CD over to Manabu, Gally flashed him a bright smile. "At the very least, I'm glad I was helpful!" She smiles, then blushes as her stomach growls. "Ooops, forgot about the side effect. It burns energy like whoa!" Taking the bowl of snacks, Gally began munching on them while watching the computer screen. "Here's hoping it works!" Gally says, eating a candy bar. "If this works well, we may be able to salvage more information from the ruins!" |

"Go ahead," Manabu said to Trent. "That would save us some time once we're done." He watched carefully as Gally fixed the CD for the last time, and then received the CD from her. As she smiled at him, and her stomach subsequently growled, he watched her with a frown as she started snacking away. "I would recommend resting after this, too. There's no way a skill of this strength would just drain your caloric reserves. It's most likely sapping at your spiritual ones as well." He handed the disc back over to Trent to one last reading. "Here. Go ahead and copy the files over." Once Trent opened up the disc again, though, he'd notice that there were very little obvious changes. There were no more garbage file names, but the remaining files were all matching .pdf's and .xml's to the ones that had been listed for Nagashima. However, there would be one significant change: if Trent was to try and open "Outlier_Effect_Report_10-21_J.pdf" or "OE_Summary.doc", he would not only find that they were opening, but they were readable. Unfortunately, that would probably be as far as Trent (and possibly even Gally) would get... because both documents were written in extremely high level, academic Japanese, with obscure kanji as far as the eye could see. |

"...I once exerted myself so much with my Persona's powers that my nose actually... bled..." His small attempt at conversation was shot down - by himself, no less. "..." Wordlessly, he took the CD from Manabu's hands once more and put it inside the computer. Instinctively, he selected all of the files and copied them to the folder before trying to do anything. He was ready to carry out the analysis he'd promised he would do... when he realized it would not be necessary. "...!" Not only had the files been affected by Gally's magic - they were perfectly readable now. Wasting no time, he opened the one labeled OE_Summary... then stopped. "...what..." His face got closer to the screen. "...what the..." Bumping the zoom function up to max, a single, rare kanji was left on display on the screen, as Trent evidently tried to break it down into parts that he could actually understand. Failing that, he scrolled to the side to see if it made any sense with the phrase that it was part of... before running into yet another, comparably monstrous kanji. "...what the fuck?" He leaned back on his chair as he put the zoom back on a regular level. "I'm--I can't read this. At least we have the files, I... suppose." As the others presumably proceeded to read the file, he pulled out his phone and seemed to be trying to find the unknown character in some sort of reference sheet... |

"Hmmm, you're probably right! I haven't used it this much aside from random tests on things." Gally spoke, tilting her head to the side while crossing her arms. "I guess that drained feeling was the spiritual part as well!" As Trent stuck the CD into the pc and tried to read the remaining files, he seemed to come across some hard to read stuff! Hopping off her bed and leaning over his shoulder, Gally took a look and.. couldn't make much sense of it either! "Uhh.. huh. I have no idea either!" She commented after a few moments of thinking. They'll probably have to get the Persona user community's help on this one! ---- "Heh.. having trouble?" Yoko's voice spoke in her head. "Quiet you." Gally mentally growled back. "It's not like you're in control because you want to be, you do know this, right?" Yoko snickers, "But since I'm being charitable, I'll leave you be for the moment." "Whatever." ---- Frowning, Gally looked to Manabu and wondered if he recognized any of those kanji used in the report. Though she was pretty certain that they'd need to do some research into this to get anywhere with this particular report. |

When the document popped up on the screen, Manabu shot up from his chair and walked over to the computer. As Trent puzzled over the radicals of unfamiliar kanji, Manabu leaned an arm against the back of Trent's chair and squinted down at the screen. "Let me take a look," he said, reaching his arm over Trent and taking hold of the mouse. He scrolled up to the top of the screen, and his gaze ran over the lines, moving down them one by one with a surprising speed. After a moment, he minimized the window, and then opened "Outlier_Effect_Report_10-21_J.pdf". He continued to skim through the document, scrolling down quicker than Trent and Gally would likely get a chance to attempt to read, mumbling to himself all the while. "...'Represents a significant deviation from the distribution of the normal curve...' 'observational studies inconclusive...' 'potential correlation between the spontaneous extropy expelled and the population standard deviation...'" Manabu murmured. He looked up toward Trent and Gally."This is an academic level dissertation on the effects of the Nagashima Anomaly on the population of the city." He continued to scroll down, his gaze focused on the screen. "They were studying something about how the the population of Nagashima differed from those of cities around the country, and how it could potentially relate back to this 'anomaly'. It seems that... they think the deviations had something to do with an 'anomaly' they were studying in the city." Manabu stopped at one section, frowning. He stopped and highlighted a bit. "Look at this, though... 'If true, the behavior exhibited by the anomaly is inconsistent with the information provided within the Kirijo Report. The source of this discrepancy is unknown...'" He stepped back from the computer, looking back toward Trent and Gally. "I can only assume that the 'Kirijo' they're referring to is the Kirijo Group, which begs another question... why would Kirijo's name come up here?"
