She said the info was useless to her, but we might be able to get something out of it. I don't really know what we get out of this, though.

I'd also volunteer if you were all going to go try and talk to her again.

The information is "useless to her?" As in, she needs information at all? I'd say that's a bit telling. What could she be trying to find out that any information in the ruins would be any more or less useful to her than any other?

Everyone who's volunteered, meet me at this entrance to the ruins at 14:00 sharp. The plan is to go in sufficiently deep that the heavy-hitters in our group won't have trouble with the Shadows but we'll be close enough to an escape route and deep enough in that we have a decent enough shot at contacting Yellow. Plan to be there for several hours: if the Reaper shows up, we'll have to bail, wait it out until it floats off somewhere else, and then go back in to try again. Don't worry about the Reaper, that nifty compass I found'll alert us in time for us to skip out before it can fire so much as a shot at us.

*The above post links to a map of Nagashima, on which a dot is posted. It seems to indicate a building near the border between the backstreets and the lower-income apartments of Uptown Nagashima. No indication is given of it, but this is the same building in which Kyo discovered the crippled Kyomu Monto in Finders Keepers. A note typed at the bottom of the map reads: "Best I can figure, the elevation of the land here works out so that the entrance in this building's basement opens up into the fourth or fifth floor, but proximity to the entrance seems to ward off the more powerful Shadows. Just theorycrafting here, but I think distance from the world of the "normies" also affects Shadow development, not just floor depth within the ruins themselves."

okay I just finished reading all that happened, and since the group I was in mostly missed all the Ms. Yellow talk, I do wish to also participate on this second excursion to see what else we can find out about her.

And also to see what's up with that key we got.

I've met them. Treo's met them both more often than I have, though. Kind of glad he's coming along, honestly. Kind of surprising that the other two Glass Eye guys aren't volunteering, though...

We're going to have to be careful, though. Hopefully when we get there, she's in less of a "murder everyone" mood, and more like how she was with the others. If she's in a murdery mode, we need to get out of there ASAP. I think the only ones in our group who could maybe handle her are you, me, and Treo, and even then I don't want to get into an extended fight with her.

To everyone who's going to meet with Ms. Yellow: be careful. Good luck.

In other news, I've finished going through the readable files. There's a good amount of corrupt content in them, so I wasn't able to get a full picture, but I got the gist of it. The grand majority of what's in there is very dense, data-based information, and doesn't mean very much on its own. Looking between the lines, and using the information we know from other documents, though, I feel safe guessing a couple of things about what we know.

The name "Outlier Effect" on those documents that won't open suggests that they were studying how populations in Nagashima differ from the averages in the rest of the country. And we already know they were studying something about probability in Nagashima, because of an earlier document we found: a title page for measurements done on something called the "Nagashima Anomaly". And in that paper, they submitted information regarding chronometer and coin flip tests. I suspect the "outlier effect" described in the documents that won't open is a similar thing, perhaps describing how the Anomaly causes Nagashima to trend away from the top bell curve.

It's strange, though. The concept of what's "normal" in a region is an inherently socialized concept. That's not something that would be affected in changes in physics and probability, like what coin flips and chronometers would be measuring...

...in any case.

@OriginalG: I want to come along if you decide to try this out. If what you say about your ability is true, then maybe we can uncover something else from this disc.

@ShonashRavine: What's this about a key?

@MythosObserver: Sure thing! I'll send a PM to all those that want to come along. But honestly, it shouldn't take too long to do!

@OriginalG: Thank you. I actually want to get a look at the contents of the CD post repair. Not to toot my own horn too much, but I think I might be able to digest the contents of any further information it may hold faster than most of the others on the forum.

Also, it looks like we have a good number of people who aren't particularly aware of the other denizens of the ruins, since they awakened in the post-Reaper days, so I'll go ahead and summarize what we know about them, no backreading needed.

Ms. Yellow appears as a female lab technician with a ponytail and glasses. Real name, age, and motivations are all unknown. Wants everyone dead (or at least out of the ruins), and the documents we've found destroyed.

According to Ms. Gold, she was the head scientist when the lab was running, is the reason our other friends are Shadows, and is completely insane. This information seems to be supported by some of the audio logs we've found, where she can be heard commanding the other scientists. She's far more powerful than anyone we know, and can apparently turn people into Shadows. She also apparently created and controls the Reaper, but as Fujiwara-san pointed out, that doesn't seem to be quite right.

As you can probably surmise, she's very dangerous, which is why her reappearance is concerning, to say the least.

She's aided by Eiji Hachirou, or "The Gunman", a former crooked cop turned security guard, who also became a Shadow. He's capable of turning into a more monstrous shadow form, and really likes his guns.

On the opposite side, we have Ms Gold. She's also chosen not to reveal much about herself, but we do know that she was a test subject in the lab and became a Shadow as a result. She's chosen to ally herself with us so that she can hopefully return to the outside world someday, and is a valuable ally.

Aiding Ms. Gold is a man we've been calling "The Swordsman", a quiet fellow who uses a sword. No one's seen him since he protected a group of us when the Reaper first appeared.

The common thread with everyone is that, since the Reaper's first appearance, the humanoid shadows have been more or less absent. Speculate upon that as you will. In any case, Yellow is back now. That should catch everyone up to speed.

sorry, was called for something. Anyhow @MythosObserver while our team was heading up to the other team, we were stopped by some sort of weird barrier, and then this big shadow appeared! It looked like a grown woman and it didn't attack us immediatelly, and it also had a key with the label "Y. Yamaguchi" ingrained on it. Charles tried to tell it to leave, but it got angry and, did something weird to him. And then it left behind the key!

Does someone know who this Yamaguchi is?

...a big, woman-shaped shadow? Was it transparent as well?

I don't recognize the name on that key, though, and a quick internet search gets me nothing. Too generic of a name, I assume.

I don't know if this is relevant, but the name "Y. Yamaguchi" could possibly refer to Yoko Yamaguchi. She was a fairly well-known pathologist who collaborated on a number of papers up until 2002. After some digging, I came across a picture that might be hers:

Yoko Yamaguchi

She does seem to bear a ressemblance with Ms. Yellow, though this might also be a complete coincidence and I might be wrong. This could be worth exploring.
