"Shit shit shit! Dragon punch hard! Ex combo! Come on!" The latest fighting game just came into Hanamura Arcade. This place was the best hangout for a reason, always getting the best games new and first. All the new arcade boards with faster processing speed. It was like Neuromancer came to life! As cool as that was, the faster processor meant the inputs had to be more precise and- "Fuck!" The CPU just tossed an Ultra combo when Charles threw a lowkick. There goes that round. Featherman Arena was some bullshit. "Continue?" Charles shook his head and stormed off. He was going to tilt if he kept playing this. The screen showed his defeated Featherman slowly losing color as the continue timer ticked down. It aggravated Charles to leave the Pink Featherman like that, but his stomach was growling too loud for him to try fighting again. "Bullshit ass mofucking game." Charles muttered more to himself as he walked to the canteen area of the arcade. The food was always there to cheer him up after he got his ass whooped, both in game and outside game. The cooks had seen Charles walk in bruised up enough to know his favorite dish as he walked in. One of the younger cooks was a man who stood out like a sore thumb. Must've been some chinpira, going from the American-style hair cut and the track suit he had on. "Ayo, same as usual homie?" Charles chuckled. This dude must've been in the kitchen every time he came, or else he would've recognized him. "You know it, bruh." As the man took his order, Charles surveyed the rest of the seats. Almost packed full, but there seemed to be a familiar face somewhere, three seats down. "Ay yo! It's Oliviera, you know me?" |

She never was one for arcades much back home. Mostly because the first time she'd ever been asked to go with some friends, she had them break it down and explain exactly how it worked. Like, for a hundred yen a play, a hundred whole yen, you played at games. Video games, crane games, whatever. The point was that in one way or another most of 'em were set up so you would feed your hard earned allowances and mad money into them. Needless to say, she declined the first and every other time. It's like they had money to burn! Didn't the lot of 'em realize how hard it was to even earn up that pocket change? …so, what was she doing in one, after all? That had something to do with now she was actually earning enough money to actually waste a bit of it. Even still that 'waste' had more to do with the canteen than the pretty lights and loud sounds to convince most to part with their pocket change. She had to say, the prices weren't bad and the food was good too! That…almost seemed like a catch to her, but the karage sandwich spoke for itself. She supposed it made more sense they'd take a loss on the food considering it was 'one stop shop' for a bite to eat and some cheap entertainment. She was kind of musing that when she heard a familiar voice and looked up! Oh! It was him! Charles Olive! Olive Oil? Olly Ossbourne? Ol- Oh! Just like he said! Olivera Well, she was half right at least and that counted for jack-all in the end. When he called out to her, she let the fry she was holding fall back to the plate and smiled as she regarded him with recognition. She waved him over. "Ah, it's th' traceur. How's it goin'?" Sounded like he was cursin' up a blue streak before, so she'd assume that was a couple of thousand yen down the tubes. |

The chatter and noise began to pick up. Something akin to a non-alcoholic videogame happy hour was starting, with cheap food and extra tickets earned for each play. Charles made a move for the seat right besides her, trying to see if he could make it without a Sukukaja. Cheap food and cheap video games made people rush aggressively, if his experiences with Slavic gamers were anything to go by. Nothing like a pro Russian team steam rolling your friends on a rig made out of scrap. "Oh, you know! Pouring money down the drai! Seeing lights flash when you push buttons. You know me, just a monkey like everyone else!" bellowed Charles over the slowly deafening crowd. He quickly slid onto the mounted diner stool, barely edging out a middle-aged man about to sit on the seat backwards. The man nearly fell, using a nearby server's apron to catch his fall. The server without a second glance, quickly grabbed him back, spinning him around back to his feet. Judo club must've been running low on funds. "What are the chances I'd see a pink-haired girl in an arcade called Hanamura?" Edited by RickenbackersAllTheWay, Aug 7 2016, 04:52 AM.

"Nice save!" She complimented the chef, not for the good food but for the bit of prowess in sparing an unwary man a moment of embarrassment and maybe a busted tailbone if luck wasn't with him. She gave that would-be judoka a big thumbs up and shifted her attention back to Charles. See? This is where most people would've said something admonishing like 'you could have hurt someone!' or 'Be careful!' But seeing as how it didn't really affect Hitomi herself inversely it didn't really matter much, did it? So with that smoothed over, she leaned over with one elbow against the table rested her cheek on her knuckle. "I'd say…one in one, seems 'bout right? Maybe a lil' better, haven't looked around. Been burnin' a little change lately?" |

"One in one? Those are some specific odds." said Charles playfully. "I imagine my looks must be a deciding factor." Upon being asked about burning change, he shrugged and shook his head. "Burn is an understatement. More like a wildfire of money trees. At least meeting you saves me a few dollars for a few minutes." The cook arrived with a bowl of pork ramen garnished with different colors of ginger, corresponding to Featherman colors. "Yosh, Tokusatsu Tonkatsu up! Ginger should give you a good kick!" he exclaimed, placing the bowl down in front of Charles. "Did you order yet? They got desserts if you want something light." asked Charles to Hitomi. "They got a nice angel food cake the same color as your hair." Edited by RickenbackersAllTheWay, Sep 22 2016, 01:35 PM.

"Careful now. If you keep at this rate and someone's likely ta accuse you of flirting with me." It wasn't that she wasn't flattered. Charles was plenty pretty in that exotic bad boy way that surely got some girls to go all haywire from the waist down. Hitomi? Eh. Pretty is pretty, but it's not gonna pay the bills or get her over on the next round of exams, was it? Still, it wasn't just obligation why she was smiling like that. "Yeah, I had somethin' to eat. Wouldn't say no to some sugar though." Inwardly, she had to laugh at herself. These lines were fucking ridiculous and the only reason anyone got away with them was that they were waymarkers to some strange. That certainly wasn't what she was setting out to do, but hey when you dance with a partner, you follow their steps, right? That's all she thought she was doing. "Charles? You go t' Taiyoutono too, right? You up to show me around sometimes?" Now see? That? That had real tangible benefits. Getting new information she didn't have before that might be useful. |

Charles smirked at her responses. Second meeting and there was double entendres everywhere. "Yeah, I go to Taiyoutono. I'll be your tour guide, I suppose." Charles continued to scarf down his noodles. Ramen was life right now, fuck those arcade machines. |

He guessed? A guide was great, and all, but she liked to think she warranted more than a 'I suppose I can do that, if I've got the time.' It was just a matter of pride, after all. "Hey, you got yourself a girlfriend, yet?" It didn't matter to her either way, and just asking was not the same thing as signing up for the job herself, but she almost felt duty-bound to double down on the implications after that. Ah, this was gonna be real interestin', that was for sure. Hitomi smiled and rested her folded arms on the table as she watched him scarf down assorted carbs at a prodigious rate. She bit her lower lip and did all that usual 'demure but coy' shit, and all for the build up of a question. "So, how's about now?" …well, no, it wasn't all just because she was impatient. Getting some sort of reaction out of Charles was quickly becoming an important secondary objective to the pink-haired girl. |
