Ryuunosuke paused, his face scrunching up in thought. "Uh... I think it was some fancy school in Tokyo. She graduated a while ago, though, so she's been working since. She, uh, just moved here, though, like I mentioned before." Momo still hadn't quite broken to him why she had moved into Nagashima yet. At the very least, she had settled in nicely - she was already in a new job, and they seemed to be giving her some free reign on the menu. Ryuunosuke wasn't biting into the burger quite as voraciously as Joe, but he was still eating; the burger was good and he was hungry.

Having washed her face with some cold water and helped out a co-worker in the back, Momo came back to the two boys, smiling at Ryuunosuke and still not quite looking at Joe. "So, how is it? Taste okay?"

Ryuu said it was a fancy school, but Joe had no idea what he considered 'fancy.' Come to think of it, he had no idea what Ryuu's family's money situation was like. Not that it was any of his business, of course.

Momo showed back up to ask how the meal was and Joe averted his eyes again. Now would be the best time to apologize, but how? He wasn't actually going to get on his knees, that would be ridiculous. But just apologizing while eating the burger she had made seemed really underwhelming. Not that Joe would have cared. If Momo weren't related to Ryuu, he probably wouldn't even say anything. But since that was the case...

'Ah, hell,' Joe muttered as he got off of his stool. He stood at full posture facing Momo. 'This is only cause you're Trippin's sister, got it?' He gave a deep sigh and then bowed at the waist, forming a 90 degree angle. 'I'm deeply sorry for my rudeness earlier. Your actions were justified and my reaction was unwarranted. Also, the food you made is delicious. Thank you for your hospitality.' When he stood back up, Joe avoided eye contact again, this time with a blush across his face, probably the first blush he's had in a year. Joe hated bowing.

he scratched his neck awkwardly. 'So, uhh... we cool?'

Momo almost made a biting comment about the nickname Joe had chosen for her little brother, but she held her tongue, crossed her arms, and remained silent for the duration of his apology. Her sharp expression softened a bit; maybe this kid wasn't so bad after all. Sure, she didn't approve of the way he dressed, the way he spoke, or the fact that he did all these things while potentially influencing her pure, innocent little brother, but at least he seemed like a decent person. Momo shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah, yeah, just don't come into a restaurant like that ever again and we're cool."

She paused. "It is good, though?" Ryuunosuke was halfway through a bite of his burger, so it fell on Joe to reply first.

She didn't hate him! That meant he and Ryuu could keep hanging out and Joe wouldn't have to be a friendless loser! Joe retook his seat and was about to take another bite burger before Momo asked them how it was. Joe grinned at her, apparently having already forgotten that time they were about to fist fight 2 seconds ago.

'Yeah, this burger is fuc--er, great! Trippin says you went to school in Tokyo to be a chef, but that's pretty obvious just eating it! You're talented as hell!' Joe punctuated this by taking another bite.

Momo kept her arms crossed and her expression cool, but a hint of a smile crept its way up her lips. "Thanks," she said, pride coloring her tone. "I was hoping you two would like it! You're in the target audience, after all." She turned to Ryuu and her smile grew wider, a bit more genuine. "Ryuu, you liking it?"

His mouth mostly full of burger, Ryuunosuke just gave a thumbs up. A few seconds of chewing later, he replied, "Y-yeah! It's really good, Momo."

She smiled, then went back to Joe. She glanced between him and Ryuunosuke before asking, "So, not trying to be rude here, but how'd you two become friends? You don't exactly look like the most likely pair."

In hindsight, it was pretty obvious that Momo would ask how they were friends. Joe fit comfortably into very few social circles. This wouldn't be a problem if Joe hadn't met Ryuu in the ruins doing persona-related things. Joe swallowed the piece of burger and began stammering. D'uhhh... we were... training! Er, exercising. And Trippin was, I mean, if you squinted and turned your head sideways, you might consider them push ups? But it was kind of sad to look at--no offense, Trippin--so me and a couple others stepped in to help out.' All of this was true. It just so happened that this had happened in the ruins and afterwards several shadows attacked them.

Joe smirked and looked at Ryuunosuke. 'But, damn, some of that training must have stuck. By the time I came back from traveling, Trippin was fuckin ripped! have you seen his muscles? He had like a Captain America transformation!' Hopefully that was enough of a topic change to keep her away from the how they met.

Did this guy actually just go "D'uhh?" In real life? Momo held a hand up to her face and cleared her throat, stifling a snicker. Then she paused and instinctively took a step to the left, in front of the sink, to wash her hands. Cleanliness.

"Hmm, yeah, I can imagine Ryuu doing something like that." She smiled at her little brother. "And I know, right? God, seriously, Ryuu, I couldn't believe I was looking at you when I first came back!" She was tempted to lean over and smack him on the arm or something, but Momo remembered she had just washed her hands literally two seconds ago, so she decided against it. She looked back at Joe. "Uh, well, thanks for helping him train, then." She paused. "You and a couple others, though? Anyone else I should know about?"

Something changed in the atmosphere - Ryuunosuke froze for a moment, and then continued eating, looking down at the counter. Momo paused and blinked. Had she said something wrong?

Joe frowned and stared off while thinking. 'Who was that again...? I think it was...' Joe's eyes grew wide as he trailed off, but only for a second. His head went down to face his burger. 'A-Ah, yeah, that's right. It was just some random people from school. Hah.' Joe tore another chunk out of the burger. He looked back up at Momo. 'Damn, this is a good burger! Can you make anything taste this good? Like, say, cup ramen?'

Joe elbowed Ryuunosuke. 'Trippin, how many talented siblings you hidin? You don't happen to have a brother who's an awesome bass player, do you?'

Momo's eyes narrowed. The Kaburagi kid made a face for a split second, gave a throwaway answer, and then changed the subject twice in less than ten seconds. Ryuunosuke just didn't say anything, but he wasn't looking at her anymore, either. Something was definitely up. Momo bit her bottom lip and thought about whether or not to pursue the subject. She glanced at Ryuunosuke, who immediately looked away. Her expression softened. The pause had definitely been long enough for Joe to realize that Momo had caught onto something, but she went ahead and replied, "Yeah, we've got two other siblings. Right, Ryuu?"

He blinked, surprised, as if snapping out of a daze, before saying, "Huh? Oh, uh. Yeah." He looked over at Joe. "Our older siblings, Kenji and Keiko. Kenji's the oldest, but they're only a year apart. I, uh... I think they're both doing office jobs or something?" He looked back at Momo, silently asking her to confirm. She nodded.

"Yeah, Kenji's a software engineer at some big company, and Keiko's a lawyer for one of Japan's biggest firms," She said. "It's pretty crazy stuff."

The silence hung thick in the air, making it hard to breathe. She knew something was up. Why didn't he just say it was him? Stupid. This was suppose to be a fun day. How did he keep fucking it up?

When Momo herself changed the subject, Joe blinked in surprise. There's no way she didn't notice something weird, so was she ignoring the situation? Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Joe jumped on the new topic. 'O-Oh, wow! Didn't realize you had such a talented family! Well, damn, what crazy skill are you holding out on us, Trippin? Are you the awesome bassist? Are we about to start a kickass band?! We will be at Budokan by the end of the year! Next stop, American tour!'
