Name: Hana Watanabe
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Class: 2-1

Clubs/Occupation: She's interested in the First Aid club.

Personality: Hana is shy, but does her best to overcome this. She is a determined young woman, if only in small ways; one that believes that good deeds are rewarded in kind. One that struggles with the selfishness of such a thought.

At her best, Hana is sweet-natured, open-hearted, and steady. Her worst finds her self-conscious, cagey, defensive -- and biting back a sort of scathing unkindness that she cannot reconcile as part of herself. She can experience anxiety that feels paralysing; it's during these times that she whispers a desire to disappear to herself. To be forgotten. Beneath notice. Completely anonymous.

Hana can barely admit it to herself, but she yearns to be a hero. This yearning is at the core of her, and it dictates her actions, however embarrassing she may find them. She tries as hard as she can to believe that humans are inherently good, but there's a sort of dread in the pit of her soul that insists otherwise. And if she can't believe that other people are good, what hope is there for someone as flawed and selfish as her?

An easy path to heroism would be violence -- vigilantism. But Hana doesn't feel that she has anything to offer in that regard. More than that, violence has often been a catalyst in so many of the world's problems. Surely there's another way. Surely there's something more.

Hana is very sensitive to the feelings of others -- perhaps too much so.

She does try to put her best foot forward. Between her lows are many days and weeks where she is consumed entirely by the minutiae of her life. These periods between lows are slowly lengthening as she grows older... and she's not sure how to feel about that.

History: Hana's life so far is only remarkable for its profound ordinariness. Growing up, Hana always felt close to her mother, a homemaker. Hana's father is a contractor. She's a little vague on the specifics, but understands that his work lies in the engineering field. Her family has moved with each contract, meaning that as much as twice a year, Hana would end up somewhere new and strange. Despite this, she was a very steady child, and had mastered the happy trick of making friends wherever she went -- though rarely close ones.

Hana is not sure what her mother was like or what she did before marriage. Her mother is slightly evasive when it comes to this; her father indulgent of this evasiveness. What matters is that she passed her keen interest in news and current affairs to Hana at a young age, expecting to develop an analytical and worldy child.

To an extent, it worked. Hana, sensitive, smart, and small, saw a little of the world in what she read and watched. She saw suffering, disease, death -- in faraway places, and wondered how others who knew this could even move under its weight. (Her mother quietly put a stop to their discussions of newspapers and television.)

As she grew, Hana began to realise that the things that troubled her weren't just far away. They happened in her country. Her city. Every city and town she lived in. She felt paralysed by it all -- and understood that this paralysis was wrong, was bad. Was something to hide. And something to vanquish. The matter of how to do so wasn't something she could answer -- and it still troubles her. After all, the world's problems are too much for one normal person. Something or someone larger than life, however...

But that's a thought that she can't find the words to express yet.

Her family has moved to Nagashima with the intent of remaining there for some time. Her father, who loved the freedom of contracting work, has taken a permanent position in a company based there. Hana is not unaware of the fact that this is due more than a little to her parent's wish to give her some stability during an important time in her life. While her marks were high enough to gain admission to Taiyoutono, they showed no preference for a particular subject or area of study. She is aware of their concern, but it's a distant thing. The Watanabe family moved to Nagashima during school break, allowing Hana to finish her first year of high school without uprooting her, and giving her time to prepare for her second. She is steeling herself for another first day, another tentative reach for friends, another new beginning... this time, seemingly, with no chance to vanish.

Appearance: She is short and slight in appearance, of an average weight, and 4'10" in height. At a glance, it's easy to write her off as delicate or fragile, but her posture is unyielding, and her hands often steady.

Hana has straight, medium-long brown hair that she often pulls back in a bun or ponytail. Her bangs are growing out, and they are parted evenly and mostly tucked behind her ears. Her eyes are also brown.

The unassuming neatness in her hair extends to her whole appearance. Her lips are full, and the suggestion of a polite smile -- if not one outright -- normally rests on them. Her ears are unpierced and she does not wear jewelry or makeup unless it is a special occasion.

Outside of her school uniform, she dresses in a feminine manner. Hana normally does not wear prints or trend items -- though, like all teenagers, she isn't immune to them -- and prefers simple, classic looks.

Her lack of makeup, style, and ornamentation render her rather plain.

Weapon: Hana is untested in this regard. She'd like to think she could put herself between a person and any immediate danger. It might be a little ridiculous, given her size.

Mask: A sallet helmet with visor. It is a little large for her and leaves the bottom half of her face exposed. Because of its size, Hana has to jostle a little for decent vision when its visor is down.

Persona: Hana's persona is a large figure in a suit of plate armor. It carries a winged spear and a kite shield, as well as an arming sword. Her persona represents a knight errant -- a wandering warrior attempting to display their virtue through knightly deeds. Such forces of altruism sound to good to be true -- and so it is here, as the knight errant is an ideal crystallised in fiction more than recorded in history.

The knight errant's shield is emblazoned with a personal coat of arms: a golden eagle on a white field, with a chevron in blue behind it. In the language of heraldry, this depicts the bearer as a generous and sincere protector of some strength.

She does not know what lies under her persona's hounskull helm -- or if anything is there. There is little in the way of communication between them, but there does exist an understanding.
