WHERE THE FUCK IS MARIO
Treo Ashdown was currently known in the Persona Community as somewhat of a stick in the mud, or possibly even seen as more of a hinderence than an actual help. The Wild Card had lost his temper with the new users and while they had all had this time of using fire magic to light cigarettes or wind magic to make objects float, eventually responsibility won out. To see it all again was something he never wanted. People getting all antsy with their powers is why the Park Incident happened. But none of this mattered at the moment. Because Miyuki had invited him out for a coffee and a chat.

The white haired boy wasn't usually one to answer such invites, but Miyuki had helped him out through thick and thin. Had his back when he collapsed in the ruins and he owed her a few hours of being a normal student. So the guns, the knives, the weapons were all gone. He wore a black waistcoat and purple shirt finished off with a black fedora, which he took off his head as he sat down at the table. The teen had a penchant for being early for basically everything, so chances are he had got there before Miyuki, despite the fact she had arranged it.

Smooth.

Miyuki didn't get out a lot these days. Ever since leaving the persona community, she'd become a lot more invested in the kendo club and, since school was out and she didn't have to worry about another national tournament until the new semester, her part time job as a waitress. Most of the time, she was just working or helping her mother at home, so even if she wanted to, there wasn't a lot of time for her to meet up with old friends and chat. Frequently, she didn't even want to - ever since the social catastrophe that had been her relationship with Satosu, a lot of her former friend group had turned against her. All the stress made her reconsider her priorities in life, which had led to her abandoning Bedlam and the exploration of the ruins; this meant it was difficult for her to reconnect with some of her old persona user friends, as well.

Treo was an exception, though - they'd gotten pretty close in the past, and he'd even stayed in her apartment when he'd been in some very dire straits. Treo, Miyuki knew, could also be really stupid for all of his intelligence: he barely valued his own life, putting his goals of exploring the ruins before everything. Honestly, she'd almost been surprised that he was still alive when she sent him a message to reconnect. But he had replied, and she'd offered him a chance to hang out and just be a regular person again. Two friends, getting a cup of coffee.

Miyuki arrived exactly on time, which meant that she arrived later than Treo. She'd expected it, since Treo was always freakishly early, (maybe it was a foreign thing) but she couldn't help but chuckle as she sat down at the table, offering her friend a wide smile. "Early as ever, I see." Miyuki looked quite a bit different from what Treo would remember - she'd gotten her long hair cut, her bangs cropped and the rest of it only going down to her neck, and her expression was lighter, less weighted than it had been in the past. Her penchant for the color green remained, since she wore an olive jacket over a white t-shirt, with jeans and a small bag at her waist. Her piercing red eyes remained, however, meeting Treo's gaze.

"It's good to see you, Treo," she said. "Have you been taking care of yourself?"

Treo offered a small smile as she sat down. "Mmm. I think I'll be early to my own funeral." The black joke made he chuckled somewhat, but then put the comment to one side as they began to talk. He hadn't seen her in a while and Miyuki had turned her life around, it was kind of inspiring. As Treo stared into her eyes, those piercing red eyes still retained their strength in being really hard to lie against. It wasn't a superpower, or anything so ridiculous as that, but Treo couldn't lie to someone who had saved his life like that.

He scratched his neck but Treo looked... somewhat ropey. Nothing like he had been before, sleep had been a thing Treo had done, but there was no mistaking the hint of a bandage around his neck, peeking through the collar of the shirt. "...I've been... sorta taking care of myself." No, he hadn't. "How about you? You look great, like a weight had been lifted off you or something." He leaned back in the chair. "Everything going ok?" Treo tried to take hold of the conversation, so he could steer it away from himself, as per usual.

She didn't laugh at the joke, and her smile faltered slightly. "I'd rather not see any more funerals any time soon." When Treo answered her question, Miyuki gave him a serious look. Her eyes flitted about, studying his expression, the bandage poking out of his collar, the way he was changing the subject. Miyuki hesitated - she didn't want to push him too hard, since she'd extended the invitation as a chance for both of them to relax, but Treo's self-destructive habits were something that worried her too much to simply avoid. Regardless, she filed the discussion away for another time, deciding to ease into it later.

Miyuki's expression lightened up again, and she smiled radiantly. "Ah, you think so? A lot of people have been telling me I look lighter, or something. Maybe it's the haircut." The waiter took that moment to arrive and ask what they wanted, and Miyuki replied, "Oh, can I get an iced tea? Thanks?"

The waiter would leave after taking Treo's order, and Miyuki turned back to her friend, continuing, "Things have been going well, though, yeah. Life's been a bit more... mundane, but also more relaxing. I have a lot less garbage to deal with, these days." She paused, then ambiguously turned the question back on Treo. "You?"

Treo nodded for an iced tea as well. As she studied his expression, it was very clear to tell she didn't believe him, not that he believed himself. But that wasn't the point right now, the point changing had given her time to express herself. Miyuki did look a lot better. It would be lying if Treo wasn't thinking about what had happened with her own problems, but he wasn't about to ask. After all, this wasn't the time or place. The girl seemed happier though, maybe that was what was important in this situation. Miyuki was more than just an ally. She was his friend.

"I've been alright, school finished so I've had a lot of time to..." No, that wasn't what he was going to bring up. "I've had a lot of time to think about my next steps, to college, I mean. Not anything else. I'm looking into criminology. Other than that I've been doing a lot of research about it. Asking a few people about how hard it would be to be a police officer over here." He paused. The fervent continuation, it definitely looked like changing the subject from what he was going to say. "How about you, where are you going next?" He was curious, to be honest.

Oh, good, he was at least thinking about some normal things. "Criminology, huh?" She paused, pondering. "Hmm, yeah, I mean, I could see you as a police officer." Both from the stick up his butt and the intense lack of self-preservation, Miyuki thought to herself. Treo turned the topic back to her, and Miyuki blinked, pausing. "Me? Uh, I'm still going to be at Taiyoutono. Going into my second year, now." She frowned. "Things might be a little awkward, now. A lot of people don't really like me." Miyuki frowned and shrugged, not looking too bothered. "It's not that big of a problem though. Kendo club went well last year. We went pretty far into nationals, and I did pretty well myself."

She hesitated, then asked, "You're going to Rokujima, right? Or... are you going back overseas or something?"

Treo nodded slowly. "I see... well I still like you, I mean, you put up with me." He chuckled slightly. Kendo club did well and went all the way to nationals? That was pretty interesting. Imagining Miyuki being great at Kendo wasn't something he could think about at first, but then that slowly became more apparent. The girl seemed pretty unfazed by the others not liking her, probably because it didn't matter as much as it initially seemed. "Mmhm. I'm going to keep studying here, I don't really want to move away." He smiled slightly, leaning back.

"After being around everyone for so long, I'm not quite ready to be on my own again, y'know?" He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Not to mention there's not much for me back home. I don't want to leave yet anyway. I don't feel like I..." He fumbled for the words. That was more private than he was willing to admit. So the sentence trailed off, somewhat awkwardly as he coughed and buried the sentence himself. "How about you? Thinking you might go further with Kendo in the future?"

Miyuki couldn't help but chuckle as well as Treo said he still liked her. That was such a... Treo way to put it. Despite being vastly intelligent, he could be pretty awkward, still. At the news that Treo would be studying at Rokujima, Miyuki stifled a sigh of relief and instead nodded her head, smiling radiantly. "Ah, okay, that's... that's good." Honestly, she'd be really sad if Treo went off back to America to study. Plus, she'd be worried, too - it'd be harder to keep in contact with him, make sure he hadn't done anything ridiculous.

She frowned at the abrupt subject change this time - was there something he didn't want to talk about? She decided to not push him again, not wanting to make him uncomfortable, but Miyuki knew they'd have to address the serious matters at some point today. But for the moment, she replied, "Kendo? No, I mean... I love it, and I'm gonna continue throughout my time at Taiyoutono, but... I think I'd want something more stable, you know?" Miyuki sighed. "But I'd totally love to, if I could."

Without warning, Miyuki's eyes flickered back into a serious gaze, and she looked directly at Treo with an expression he'd find familiar. Not giving him time to change the subject, she asked, "So, the bandage?"

Treo nodded his head. "Mm.. makes sense. You wouldn't want to base a career off it." The fact she had mentioned it was a good thing made him oddly pleased. It was nice to feel wanted, he assumed was the reason. Or maybe she was worried he would do something ridiculous overseas. Which was a very large possibility. Then they finally addressed the elephant in the room. Treo's bandaged neck. He pulled his collar up to hide it and looked back at her with a very flat expression. "Yeah I... hurt myself when I was..."

He lowered his head slightly. "When I was exploring the ruins alone, without anyone else." The Wild Card wasn't sure what else to say after that. "I..." He paused again. "I can't let go of it, I don't want to... leave it to anyone else. If I do, I don't know if they'll ever solve this incident." He built a small amount of confidence. "I'm doing this so that it can end. I don't want to abuse these powers, I want to use them to end this. I just wish everyone else would understand that." The waiter brought over the two iced teas and looked at Treo for a moment.

"Method acting. I'm going for a play." The waiter nodded and made his exit.

Miyuki's eyes narrowed when Treo looked back at her flatly - there was no way she'd let him work his way out of this one. Thankfully, he admitted how he'd been hurt without much fuss... unfortunately, it had been from exactly the kind of behavior Miyuki was hoping he wouldn't be doing, still. "Treo, I - " Before she could say anything, the water came over and interrupted the two of them. At Treo's excuse, Miyuki snorted, not even trying to hide it. This led to the waiter lingering for a few seconds longer, but they left soon enough.

Once she was sure no one was eavesdropping, Miyuki raised an eyebrow. "Method acting? Really? Smooth, Treo, smooth." She put on a small grin before taking a sip of her drink. Her somber expression returned once she put the tea back down on the table. "Anyway, I... No, I guess I really can't understand how you feel, huh?" Miyuki gave him a wry smile, looking down at her glass. "As a girl who just up and ran away from everything..."

She was quiet for a moment, then looked back up at him. "I just don't want you getting hurt, Treo, or worse."
